My teenage daughter spent a couple nights in the hospital this year. She thanked her nurse after giving her an IV, after waking her up in the night, etc. It was a bittersweet moment as a mother, watching how kind my daughter was to the nurses caring for her, even if they had to draw blood and all.
I thank myself today for things I did yesterday. It gives me great satisfaction when I pull a meal out of the freezer that I prepared a while back...and it's DELICIOUS! Waiting for someone else to love me right, gives too much power away. When I act with kindness to someone else, it's because that's who I am, not for what I expect in return.
Thank you for reminding me to thank myself for the efforts I’ve made to get me where I am now. Even when things are tough, if I hadn’t taken the time to care for myself - even in small ways - as things fell apart around me, things would be much, much tougher. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I love your idea! That's awesome .. I'm going to do that too.. thank you 🙏 Since we are all energy frequency and vibration, when you love yourself "right", people magically show up and do the same thing... It's law of Attraction 😉
I’m a nurse, and I give 110% to my job, I work with the elderly, in hospice, dementia, and all end stage diseases. Families and patients expression of gratitude makes it worth it. My supervisors and coworkers expression of gratitude makes it easier to show up everyday. I just returned to work after 2 weeks off, one patient was quite ill, his wife was on the phone with their daughter, and the first thing she said, ‘Jamie’s back’ with the biggest smile and confidence. It made my heart happy. Them my confused ill patient expressed his gratitude of his family, which he included me in. Being gone for 2 weeks makes me understand how much they really appreciate me. I did have to promise to go thru vacation pictures on a different night. Everyone understood. Great post here. It resonates with me in a time of depression (I believe a chemical depression bc I do not have any reason to be depressed) and I’m working on creating a different thought pattern. Oddly enough this came up while I searched something completely different. Lol
Now I understand why it’s said if you are feeling down, the best way to bring yourself up is to make someone else happy! Big Aha moment! Thank you 🙏🏼☮️
“I thank myself for taking care of my self and going to work even when I really didn’t want to . I thank myself for making sure I’m making money by going to work in order to take care of my needs “
Wow! I literally just recieved gratitude at work, 5 mins back. It made me feel so good. Then I open youtube and this is the first video that pops up. I am mind blown.
This is why I often thank myself many times during the day. Like 'thank u for giving me water ,I really appreciate that sis ' or 'thank u for stretching my neck,it feels divine' or ' thank u for applying sunscreen queen,my skin feels protected ' it really helps with the self love, cuz I tend to run on the anxiously attached side
I can tell this is so true. I pointed a women met in a store, after we spoke a few minutes to a food bank that I passed earlier that day. She thanked me so much. This made me feel so good
This is sweet and encouraging of one to do things to receive gratitude. That said, it would keep me running around to get my gratitude supply and in my experience when someone says “thank you”, I’m typically like “no big deal” but I can feel gratitude for things as simple as a breath. I live in gratitude and am indeed very happy. Gratitude is a loving of what is. Love = happiness
I am a student nurse and I had a family member of a patient who wasn't even mine stop me and thank myself and my classmates who were with me for doing what we do. It nearly brought us all to tears. We get so caught up in trying to get good grades and just make it through school and feeling like the dumbest person in the room at clinicals that we forget that what we do even as students matters.
As soon as your body connects with the feeling of something high vibrational, it brings more high vibrational things to it... The most powerful way you can shift your life is through your thoughts
I strongly believe you can. There is always something to be thankful for. regardless how small it is. Waking up, sunset/sunrise, food everyday etc. I have no clue what you're going through but, even if life treats you bad, dont blame it on life. Even if everything around you is misery, try to have peace within you. Your thoughts are powerful. What you think translates to how you feel. Do you feel bad? You're thinking bad. Do you feel sad and hopeless? You're thinking sad and hopeless. I am not saying that you're solely responsible for all your bad feelings. Of course not, bad things happen to us. But, you can change those feelings when they come up.
Yess! receiving gratitude can indeed have a powerful impact. It not only acknowledges your contributions but also strengthens positive connections and can lead to a more positive and fulfilling experience 🥰💓
I thank God for the life he has given me...i thank God for making me a strong person and for my health that I can be there for my children. God please change my brain circuits to healthy thoughts and gratitude and joy. Thankyou Dr huberman for the amazing work you do
I’ve always just been the kind of person to give gratitude and thanks for what I have and what I can do for my friends and I love the way I feel when I have help someone else so I’d agree with this because I’m a happy person for the most part even though I lost my husband and two brothers and a sister and my best friend within a little over three years and I’m still blessed
Indeed, feeling appreciated can have a significant and positive impact on your well-being and relationships. It's a powerful motivator and source of happiness! 🙌🌟
Yeah I practice gratitude both ways.. the best way to practice this type of gratitude is to be helpful to others and practicing generosity.. want to know what it feels like receiving gratitude? Be worthy of it.. in 12 step programs the basic daily practice of being helpful and being of service is what keeps people sober and moving forward. The first 12 step program was created by men who spent their entire lives (from the day they stopped drinking) actively trying to help others get sober by teaching them to help others.. lots of gratitude constantly being received.. its very true that this type of gratitude practice is extraordinarily powerful
For you to receive gratitude you must act consciously and with kindness. If you give gratitude you'll receive it as well in return. It's a virtual circle
In a good surrounding yes. Sometimes ppl do not express gratitude- because they are not aware enough. But hopefully one is in a circle of good souls mature and humble enough to be conscious of it. God bless 🙏🏻
Thank you!!! It's right on point :) I've just made the connection how in Indonesian (my native language) we say "terima kasih" which means "(I) receive love". The same as in Malay. In any case, I guess we got it quite right! Never thought of it this way.
I try to always say thank you, and I appreciate you. Even just at a checkout. I also say it to myself/ universe when things happen through the day. Something as trivial as catching a light or even getting one. Seeing something random and beautiful. Always be thankful. Thank you!❤
Wow! That is powerful and that is the first time I have heard of a receiving gratitude practice but I tried it just now and it did fill me with a lot of good energy. And I can feel the increase in motivation immediately. Thank you
That is so true... A good way to actually magnify the results is to be open to receive it and be present. When someone says thank you tap three time on the chest to let it in. That is the same for saying thank you. Thank you just for politeness is empty and you barely feel it or get the benefits.
this makes sense. i worked for a short while as customer service. and all the amazing feedback from me helping slightly changed me as a person to be more happy and caring. now i developed some sort of sleep issue wjere every night i stop breathing and i wake up in panic. to the point of being up 3-4 days without sleep. i pray im gonna be ok
That makes sense cuz when I think of a toddler or young child beaming after doing a favor for a parent or teacher ect. & The parent shows genuine gratitude, the child receives the feeling of gratitude. Hard for me to put into words but I'd imagine that would be an example of what he's describing in the video.
GREAT perspective.. now, to align myself with those who are grateful and also give thanks. learning to "receive" Thanks will be helpful too because I don't usually put into practice saying, "you're welcome".. so I don't do it with people.
You know if it comes from the heart it's better. Life is a silver lining kinda thing. You feel it you Thank God from the heart. What you are saying is exactly opposite of what should be done according to me
I’m very happy to do things for others that make them happy but I don’t agree with the sentiment here. It’s enough when someone just says ‘thanks’ (I’ll admit to being annoyed if they don’t say this basic thing) but excessive gratitude from someone just gets annoying. I wouldn’t have helped if I didn’t want to. I’m always grateful for the OPPORTUNITY TO HELP SOMEONE. I get far more satisfaction from being able to express gratitude than from receiving it.
And the reverse is also true. Huge negative shift when someone doesn't show gratitude to that person for that person doing something helpful. So the person not receiving gratitude is a bad emotional experience. Give meaningful thanks to those who deserve it so they can receive it.
Sounds absolutely right. However, most people tend not to express thankfulness. So relying on that would probably a mistake. We can have control over our perspective on things though, and appreciate what we have.
Never looked at it in this way. In my last job I was always on the receiving end of gratification. Hopefully in this new role I can generate the same level even though I no longer provide a service anymore.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏 My love buckets are full to overflowing... I love both giving and receiving...the flow of gratitude Arigato in...Arigato out...the flow of money with thanks What I appreciate, appreciates...as it flows, so it grows 🐛🦋💡🕊🌿💓🚀💓🌍💓🚀💓🧚🏻♀️🔮🦄🌈 🌠
Learning how to receive gratitude, I guess is just as important as learning how to give it. Sometimes there may be subtle feelings of fear or worry that come up with gratitude. For example, I have concerns that showing too much gratitude for someone might somehow make them feel like I don't value myself enough, which isn't the case. When I've shown others appreciation before, sometimes the other person acted surprised or uncomfortable. But genuine compliments are not an attempt at manipulating someone into doing something they don't want to do. Nor are they necessarily an invitation into something deeper. Sometimes they're just friendly gestures. It's about boundaries and finding balance

As a nurse, it always makes me feel good when a patient thanks me for my care. Good to know.
It really does. I had an older black lady who was a nurse yesterday and she told me I was a great nurse and as a new grad it was amazing to hear

I’m a nurse and I often receive gratitude from patients and families, it really makes my job worth it!
Same here only where I am, most days, it’s a thankless job so when you truly receive, you’re absolutely correct, it’s beyond worth it!🤩💜
