- In this video, I am demonstrating and comparing all of the b-flat barrels offered by Backun. These barrels have been an industry staple for decades and are definitely worth a try if you are in the market for a new barrel.
My favorite barrel was the Lumiere Cocobolo barrel (I know, I say in the video that it was the grenadilla, but I've changed my mind since listening back), and the Fat Boy cocobolo barrel was a close second. You can shop all of these barrels and learn about trials at cleverclarineti....
My setup consists of:
Selmer Paris Presence B-flat clarinet
Corbin Traditional Barrel in grenadilla
Behn Epic Mouthpiece in medium
Silverstein HEXA Ligature in rose gold
D'Addario Reserve Classic Reeds 3.5

I bought my Royal Global adjustable barrel from you!! Your customer service is awesome!
those barrels are fantastic!!!I loved the last cocobolo you tested the Lumiere !
How's the resistance feel on them? My R13 with its stock barrel and B45 mouthpiece play great, but it could do with being slightly less resistant. Sound-wise the fat barrel looks interesting.
None of these barrels are particularly resistant. You may want to experiment with barrels and mouthpieces. The B45 is actually a resistant mouthpiece (the more open the tip, the more resistant the piece. It’s counterintuitive, I know). The Corbin Focus barrel is the best resistance reducing barrel that I know of. www.cleverclarinetist.com/product-page/corbin-focus-barrel
Would a level 3 student see an articulation improvement, or is the barrel you use at level 3 a non-issue?
What is a “level 3” student?
