Same here... I was wondering if there ever be a second part, fully satisfied with the first one, but longing for more. A game that revolutionized gaming by starting an indie movement... Truly it desirves more attention

Great editing, storytelling, and voiceovers! Nothing brings a bigger smile to my face than watching a documentary on my favorite game!

so glad to see a world of goo video, loved it as a kid, and replayed it about half a year ago. i thought it was my problem, that i'm weird and get sad for no reason but i guess it was the point of the game all along. you've said what i felt about the game but couldn't make a cohesive sentence out of my feelings, thank you

Comparing undertake to WOG is definitely not like “comparing apples to oranges” they are literally both the same thing. Small indie passion project games made by small developer teams with in conventional gameplay loops. It’s more like comparing one type of apples to another type of apples.

I've probably spent hundreds of hours getting the OCD on every single level. It nearly drove me literally insane. 100% worth it.
My reaction to the trailer of the sequel was about the same lol, I can't wait for WOG 2.

Wanted to share my stance/ memories a bit, don't take this as me dismissing everything the video says, definitely not my intent, just wanted to share stuff from my perspective. That said permit me to be a bit ranty as i share this. Please just chalk this up to improving the algorithm by commenting at worst?
i was 18 when WoG came out... two things: 1. 1337 was dated For the time even, but to my generation- and starting from the 80's, it was THE stereotype of hacker nerd talk. (just added for context) the original usage of it stemming from the 80's, dorks/nerds like myself using it in the 90's (tho for some reason noone told me about the trick for M's and W's that made them look 👌) a nd by the mid 2000's they were overdone as all heck, tho to the original circle i imagine that happened in the 90's 2. meta jokes were common then. as was 4th wall breaking. My favorite game of this nature came out a year after WoF named half minute hero, but admittedly it never thought i'd be in a position where pointing out which games enjoyed meta jokes from back then since at the time you chuckled at it then moved on, i chalk this up to having a different pool of games than you did thanks to age difference but I genuinely don't feel meta humor was rare or new in that time period.
oh and while i respect that you like this soundtrack a ton, my fav soundtrack is the guilty gear sound track (but i'm also not looking for the same things you are in a soundtrack and that's okay.)

God the state of media literacy is so fucking dire.
    26:06
Stop thinking of the story as a mystery to be solved. There arent any answers to these qustions because diagetic answers dont exist. This game was made before the mascot horror content farm era. The logic of the world only makes sense when you consider it in the context of its themes.
The end of act 2 isnt about some company using beauty like oil because there was some post apocalypse that left humanity mutated or whatever.
    Beauty is a metaphor.
Beauty is artificial, plastic. The means one goes to obtain it, injections, plastic surgery, are painful and destructive. But despite the harm it causes, its ephemeral. To stay beautiful, you have to repeat this cycle of self inflicted violence. You are a slave to beauty. And even with this, it is still finite. You cannot hold onto it forever.
Beauty as a power source also functions as an allegory for the burgeoning attention economy. Beauty functions as social capital to generate value for capitalists. Media barons and oil barons are cut from the same cloth. Beauty, and by extension Art, are just as prone to exploitation by the ruling class as the natural world. (The game was made by ex EA devs by the way)
The reason youre confused by them is because you didnt pay attention in english class and instead got brain poisoned by mattpatt, cinemasins, and fnaf lore videos. Once you stop trying to engage with it like a puzzle and start trying to engage with it as a poem, it will make sense.

“Waaaaaah he doesn’t agree with my interpretation waaaaah media literacy is dead waaah” the point of art is to be interpreted differently you goober
