Most "fake Lego" is not trying to be "Lego", but rather their own brand, so calling them fake is misleading. Not to mention that brands like CaDa or Cobi are often cheaper and better.

Lot's of "fake lego" are just websites that steal designs from non lego designers and resell them online with lackluster instructions and pieces

If it’s doing its own thing then that’s fine. And has the license to use the Star Wars branding then I don’t see any problem with it. if not then it’s still a fake and ripping off some sort of branding.

The way I see it, is that if a company makes their bricks LEGO compatible, they are making fake LEGO. Even if they have their own designs of sets and cars etc. that are unique to them, and even if their product is better.

I know that sounds kinda ridiculous but maybe buying on TEMU was not the best idea in terms of getting a legit MK product. As you pointed out £85 for this set is extremely cheap. To my experience MK and other brands that use GoBricks have a brick quality that is very comparable (sometimes IMHO even better) to BigL from Denmark.
For the odd building techniques: The MOCs on ReBrickable of that size - especially if they are display pieces - will likely have similarly wild building techniques. Often enough MouldKing and other brands just steal the sets of ReBrickable (not is this case as far as I can see).
For you price estimate: The chance that an official Lego set this size would cost £250-£300 is exactly zero. Similarly sized (piece count) Star War sets for comparison (price corrected for inflation, if set is retired): Death Star sets (10188, 10143, 75159) ~£450 - closest in size; UCS Gun Ship (75309) & Mos Eisley Cantina (75290) ~£350 (500pcs less)

LEGO are not the best, they are just the most expensive. Mattel's MEGA is on par. COBI, Pantasy, Panlos, CaDa and others are better in quality and price and they make their own stuff. LEGO even copied the 1x5 plate from COBI and/or CaDa and try to pretend, they came up with it.
Stop calling them fake companys. Also, the warping does happen with LEGO, you just don't see it often, because they use as little pieces as possible.

It is a good thing that these third party companies are making these products. Lego is lazy so they will never make anything like this, and they shouldn't. Whether it's Star Wars, LOTR, etc, making large structures is something Lego just doesn't know how to or is willing to do well. Rebrickable has instructions for anything you would want to make, that's because of talented AFOL's. If you wait for the mothership to make something "you" want, don't waste your time. Buy some parts and build it yourself.

The minifigs aren't different to be cheap, they have to be due to lego's patents

Great video, Jim! For what that is, it's a really nice looking set. It's just weird that it doesn't have a foundation and looks unfinished in some places. But like you said, that's probably cost cutting reasons. But it still looks like a great display piece!

Cool set, I'm interested in getting this at some point. For my first set I went with a replica of the UCS Imperial Shuttle. I wouldn't be spending the $600/$700 the official set goes for these days, so fake set from temu for $75 sounded good to me. I think replicas of long retired sets with high aftermarket prices are a good niche for fake lego companies to cater to. Not everyone had the chance to get sets when they were on shelves 10, 15 years ago.

    • @FulcrumForce

That's a great point! I actually didn't think of that, but now you mention it you're right that's a great way to get older sets!!

    • @MrUltranuman

Agree. I was looking for a retired set last year. It was a small set and no way was I paying over $660 for a 'rare' kit when there were 70-odd on Ebay alone. Found a perfectly good off-brand for around $20 and totally happy with it. I think this is one of the reasons secondary sellers get the huff with the off-brands, as it hits their profit margins. As for Lego itself, the off-brand copies of retired sets pose no issues.

@nicksoapdish157 as it stands Mould King, the company this set is actually from is a brick company independent of Temu, you can go to their website and buy this exact set without going through Temu, so as a set it's not terrible, but as I say everyone has their own opinions on Temu and I did this vid so people can make their own minds up rather than outlay their money on something they're not sure about

By the way i still have the original star wars lego sets (i contacted you awhile on IG about it) if its something you might still be interested in
