I have most of these, but I also use a luggage cover to prevent scratches or damage. I also take photos of my suitcase and contents before I leave the house. If I need to file a claim or police report, it speeds up the process. As a solo traveler most of the time, it's up to me to protect myself and my belongings. All valuables stay in my personal item bag or on me. If I have to leave my seat, I take them with me.

I never have anything of value in my carryon bag. You never know when you might be made to check your carryon due to full aircraft. My valuables are in my personal bag and pockets.

    My 2 cents.
If you have seat A/B/C, put your luggage above D/E/F (and vice versa)
This way you can always see your luggage.

@@Hippy2021 your Boarding pass set A You're supposed to sit on A and put your things on A for Security, if they want to check it be easy to find and if everyone put like that don't you think the airline would have done that. People doing that only if their been taken, the air host would tell you its ok to put your luggage in the opposite side or find a space anywhere !!!

If I can, I will place my bag in the luggage hold for the row in front of me.

I use a non TSA combo padlock on my carry on. Works well in your hotel room too. You don't need a TSA approved lock if you are carrying on your luggage. Pack an extra TSA approved lock just in case you have to check your carry on.

Thieves are welcome to take my clean or dirty sox from my bag in the overhead bin. Anything valuable I put in a tiny backpack which goes under the seat. Need to go to the lavatory - take your backpack with you.

When i fly, i always wear a safari jacket, which has a few pockets on the outside and 2 horisontal ones inside on both sides in front. All my documents, money, keys an valuables are on me.
Even if i would fall asleep, they would have to wake me up to reach them.

I travel Solo, my only valuables at my seat are my noise cancelling headphones, my phone and a tablet. When leaving my seat I wear my headphones, put my cell phone in my pocket and carry the tablet. If you are seated in a row with strangers you never know who you can trust. I have a combo lock strap around my clam shell hard side carryon and a combo TSA lock on the bag. During the flight thieves need to move quickly, they usually won't take the time to mess with both of those.

We are told not to lock our bags. I use tie straps. I carry extra ones in case check in staff wants to open bags. I put them on carry on, too. I always travel solo. I should get one of those waist bags for my next trip.

Exactly. Also, it's not like anyone else is on your travel schedule, have the same budget or even have the same days off. Besides, I prefer solo travel anyway; no itinerary headaches or having to check on someone else. I like my space and can meet people spontaneously while traveling.

My suitcase had a very bright strap round my suitcase and a lock on it. Got back yo my home airport and went to the ladies, only noticed my strap was missing and lock gone. Only thing they took which was annoying, was my fav back pac. Nothing of value in the case.

Take a scissors security not allow sharp object on you or in bag ,so no point taking zip tie 😅 and if you sit in A B or C your supposed to put your belonging in the same Bin that your sitting in and not the opposite side so you can keep an eye on your property !!!

Zip ties are nor allowed by TSA and security at the airport, also scissors are not allowed.
As a cameraman, sometimes I travel alone, I can not take my camera with me to the toilet, so I have to leave my camera at my seat when I going to the toilet.

I’ve never had any problem taking little mini scissors with me. Also my last trip to Asia from North America, I also traveled with bandage scissors in my first aid kit, and was allowed to keep them in the kit. Regular size pointy scissors would not be allowed.
I always travel carry on only. 21 litre Minaal Daily bag, and little Tomtoc crossbody sling.
