Maghe Sankranti is also a main Nepali festival observed on the first of Magh in the B.S. Maghe Sankranti is celebrated across the country and in Kathmandu as well. It is celebrated especially by the Tharu and Magar communities. The Tharu community celebrates Maghe Sankranti on the 1st of Magh month as the New Year by bathing, donating, eating, and having fun. Today in Tudikhel, Tharu and Magar communities celebrated the Maghe Sankranti festival by organizing various programs.
