It is very destructive to let your battery run down to zero volts.
A battery cut off switch only costs about $15 and can save you time and money.
Installing an RV Battery Cutoff Switch on a Coleman LT 17B.
Needing a new battery can cost you $100s and be a terrible inconvenience on the road.
It is also nice to have power in your unit if you need it, without needing to hooking it up.
Amazon, has several to choose from.
Over 95% of what we buy for the RV comes from Amazon. The other 5% is mostly Walmart.
We are traveling in a one of a kind Coleman 17B. The 17B is the lowest priced RV in the market for its size. I tend to think of the 17B as a starter kit that owners can personalize to fit their own needs and tastes. Virtually every one is a “one of a kind” project. We have completed over 50 upgrades or modifications on ours.
Thanks for this video! I am planning how I will install a cut-off switch on my camper. I appreciate seeing how you did it.
Thanks for telling us. That is why we do it. I think that having a battery cut off switch is very important.
Good morning am going out right now to install this that’s you so much for your time to help us save money really appreciate it
Thank you for your comment.
Comments like yours are what we do it.
Appreciate the video good sir. Thanks for taking the time to put this video together. I am going to be doing this because the fridge in ours runs and i dont want it to kill the battery while we store it

That is the same, main, reason we installed our switch. Even if I turned the fridge down all the way, it would drain the battery down to nothing in a day or two.
Do you really leave the fridge running while storing your rig? Turn it off and prop the doors open to ventilate. That way you will save your expensive LPG, reduce the power loss from your battery, and prevent mold growth in the fridge.
Great video, just got my 17b and this is one of the first things I want to do
You won't regret it.
Or rather, "If you don't get one, you will probably regret it."
There are several other things you will probably like.
We just went on a trip, last week with our new front scissor stabilizer jacks, for the first time. The difference was very noticeable.
sir you are a very sharp man i like how you set this cutoff switch thankyou!
Thank you. I feel that this switch is important.
It saves wear and tear on your battery.
New sub here... I believe #994.
Thanks for showing the process unstead of just talking about it.

Give me 15 minutes for this one.
Right on, thank you! That’s worth a like and subscribe from me!
@@loganbeard9423 Cool! Thanks.
I would put red and green felt battery washers 😊
Probably not a bad idea.
This is good to know.. Thank you!!
Can you put the details on the cut-off switch and cable and where purchased.
No problem. You are not the first person to ask. Amazon has several of them.
I put the link in the description, but perhaps I will put it on the first line so people can more easily see it.

Hi i have the same cut off switch and it tells me to add it to the N. I see you have added the switch to the P. I am fitting solar and i am fitting the cut off switch so i can work on the system later on.
That is probably the way to go. If, or when, we go to solar, we will probably change that.
@@funinourrv Thank you for letting me know. I will wire up my 10 batteries and bus bars now.
If you look at Grainger and McMaster-Carr battery cut-off switches, they are all designed for the NEGATIVE polarity.
What part number is that
I have no idea.
Over 90% of what we buy for our RV comes from Amazon.
If you go to Amazon and search "RV Battery disconnect switch" you will find dozens of choices. Most of them will be under $18 and look exactly the same.
Thanks for your question.
