The real benefit of electronic shifting is you install once and forget about it, no more fiddling barrel adjusters and all that every so often once a cable goes slack. Perfect shifting 100% of the time. It's also way more easier to pack and easier to shift when your hands are cold. Not critical to have by any means but certainly a quality of life improvement upgrade.
Those who don't think a 1x1 ratio is necessary for gravel bikes just don't know and don't live in a place with truly brutal climbs. I live in SoCal too, where the gravel climbs are always steep, and even with my ex-Category 3 road racing fitness I couldn't live without my 34-40 ratio.
Good to see you riding in my backyard! That spot you came down is for sure steep. The road section leading up to it is at least 20%. Those hills are unforgiving with the grades. Really make you earn the view.
Good to see you pair back on your bikes!. Not been there but it looks brill for gravel, glad to see you enjoying yourself's. Anyway back to our cold and damp England!. Keep em coming!!
So good to see you riding again! I’m torn between enjoying the new variety of music while also missing the same tunes from all the videos several months ago/year ago. Path less pedaled had a “supple soundtrack” in my mind with its same couple songs every time.
That’s a lot of climbing, I know I’ve done that climb for years. Now I enter those mountains from East side and transverse across to that same peak. It’s actually really nice that way but still steep with a longer traverse across the top. Enjoy the So Cal weather!
I have a friend who just moved to LA and this is exactly what I want to get out there to do. (especially since it is 33 and raining here in Ohio today).
Loops are always better than out and backs, even if you have to ride some pavement to make the loop. Good call carrying onward once you got to the tree o' life.
Look at you both getting around in tank tops! I just might move. Could save a lot on clothing! How can you talk while your climbing these hills! This showing of what has become if these wildfire areas is good to see. Great vlog. Thanks.
California fire roads and access to those electronic sites, where mountain biking began. Angelenos must be so desperate for hiking and biking trails after watching you and Laura having to thread your way through the throngs of walkers.
I am very interested in a Titanium gravel bike...Frame an fork first.I have Ultagra disc components from a Scott aluminum..Moving from California(Hills..Placerville) to New Zealand(North Island). Most roads are gravel in my neighborhood(in NZ).Need something comfortable..not like my Sarto road bike..getting older(60)..out of all the Titanium bikes..which stand out and why

The thing I don't like is I can't quickly downshift two gears. Apparently I do this a lot as it really annoys me that I can't.

By the numbers: 24km, 670m, and a balmy 23°C.
Translated for those living in the Great White North, eh. 😉
Gotta throw the metric up on the screen Russ!

Nice ride! Hope you can tell something about the differences in riding-quality of titanium compared to a steel or aluminium frame in a future vid.
Glad to see the two of you back on your bikes, you're always an encouragement.

Yay, LA! Go visit Brad and Ester and all the crew at Road Runner Bags in Downtown!
If not for the rain, you should have tried riding in the Oakland hills when you were in town. There is some real climbing and nice vistas.
I'll be finishing off a full video of the Old Ridge Route soon, including the whole loop. ruclips.net/video/oXPa_VOAHRc/видео.html
Awesome bike and thanks for sharing your adventure!! I like my 2X setup. I know 1X is all the rage and looks COOL, but....low gears rule.
Good to see both riding again, nothing better than escaping to warm weather for a bike ride...

Ah. You're in So Cal. Welcome back. You picked a nice day to shoot the video. Hope to see you out there.
Grew up near this area. Live in Seattle now. Seattle winters are a bit dark and gloomy so I really enjoyed seeing this, thanks.

Generally agree with that, but hard when the out and back has the promise of a hamburger.
Yes!! More rides!!
I’m all about low gears on my bike. 20 gear inches or lower. Nice riding you guys.

Thank you Graptos !
Makes way more sense to us European’s in metric . Well those of us staying in EU appreciate it 🇮🇪😄🙏
Looks like a great trail, I'll have to try it the next time that I am in L.A. Thanks for sharing ;
Very nice ride. Glad the new bike is working out.Still on the trainer here in Vermont. No burritos? Take care and enjoy the sun, Al
Russ, that top was on point!
Ah, back at La Tuna Canyon, eh Russ? Much better day to ride than the last time you rode there. :-)
That looks amazing
Love your new music❤️
Dang. We just missed y'all. Got home two days ago from the sunny south. Back to the rain. :)
Just got around to checking this out, you were in Brian Wagner territory!(SAFA)
Keep on pedaling!
Dressed bright and breezy to match the weather 😀😀
Still need to ride these trails.
So jealous of that weather. Our temperature in the south of the UK hasn't got into double figures (Celsius) for ages.
Ours are in the double digits - negative😄
@@monty2078 ours have dipped below zero a few times, but only by a few degrees.
Double digit below doesn't sound like fun!
You always have the best shirts
You guys looked so happy to be back in some sun and warmth! Happy for you. Is it permanent?
Still 40 degrees and raining in Missoula... hurry home!
I'm gonna miss California. Time to get a new bike though and see where those Irish boreens will take me.
Did you guys break down the bikes and pack them to fly, or did you drive? Jealous of the sun. Seattle hasn’t seen it for months! ; )
What shorts does Laura have on? Interested in shorter riding shorts.
Always nice to ride in good weather. Nice views too. I got to ask you Russ what watch are you wearing?
I did that ride last week but started from the side you ended. Will you be doing Point Mugu trail or Coral Canyon backbone trail climb?
What is Laura's front rack? I just did a 3 day bike packing ride and it would have been great!
I can see y’all climbed up Hostetter. What was the road you descended?
Hi, thanks for the video. I couldn't make out the brand and model of your helmet. Would you mind sharing that info with me/us?
Giro and Specialized
So sorry you had to endure our harsh winter weather here in LA. Haha
what road does everyone normally park? Is there strava/ride with gps link to this?
The tree of life appears to be dead.

Cool music
What is name of your brown handle bag? Thanks
Swift Zeitgeist
Homesick now! But thanks for sharing.
I haven't seen a proper review of Laura's Breadwinner. Have you guys filmed it yet?
Not yet.
When you do your rides Russ,do you try to keep to a time or schedule?
No.
Comment of the day goes to Laura: "I think my gearing was more prepared for that climb than I was..."
Are you guys on Strava? Would love to check out the route for this ride!
Yes "fog"
Did you end up by Glenoks Blvd...
Yep
@@PathLessPedaledTV i used to bomb that hill on my BMX when i was 14 your right in my back yard

Is that a mirror on your helmet?.
