      When something harmless is judged the same as ACTUAL harmful extremes, it frequently encourages what would be harmless behavior to become harmful out of cognitive dissonance. It was the negative attitude towards homosexuality that killed him. If he could have still value himself during his love life, he might of cared enough about himself to keep it safe.

    • @frisco21
      @frisco21 7 лет назад +72

      Richard Smith...It wasn't a "negative attitude toward homosexuality" that killed LIberace, it was AIDS. This is just a fact, like it or not. I think it's a shame that this stellar entertainer has become defined by his sexuality, which really was his own business, and which he never openly flaunted to his adoring fans. Personally, I think the guy was a class act and don't really feel the fact that he was gay is relevant to his value as a beloved celebrity.

    You never saw Liberace without that amazing dimpled smile and loving what he did best! I saw him on, “What’s my line” a looooong time ago and the panel figure out who he was very quickly.
    Not too many back then could play like he did and receive wild receptions wherever he appeared.

    Today, 2019, Liberace is long dead, but finding this video reminded me of what a really great entertainer he was, supposedly the greatest piano player whoever lived, definitely a very handsome man with a likeable personality. and Liberace was the most flamboyant entertainer whoever took stage...anywhere. Today, I enjoy watching Liberace perform, the same way I did back in the day, but even more so now...thanks to RUclips, I get to replay this video until my hand cramps and I'm totally exhausted.

      ...and the only reasons he didn't take it 32 to the bar was because... well...
      1. No composers could write the music FAST enough.
      2. The friction in the mechanics of the piano would have been a FIRE HAZARD.
      3. He was only HUMAN.

    5++ Million views says it all. Just from a sheer talent standpoint, you can sit around and hope, but you well never see talent like this again. When you think of the crap that is called entertainment today, it's sickening. Here is someone who practiced for years and countless hours to perfect his craft. People didn't go to see Liberace for his clothes or jewelry or his behavior, they went to see him because he was a world class musician and entertainer. Period.

    I am totally amazed at how awesome of an entertainer Liberace was. In the same category as Michael Jackson, Elvis and the Beatles in my book. I wish I had the chance to see one of his shows, but I was only 12yo when he passed. Never will we see such amazing music giants like this ever again. So sad that he is gone along with his museum. A true legend of entertainment.

    My mother was from Menasha WI. She said Liberace had relation he visited up there. She said he was a kind and sweet person. Interestingly Menasha at that time was a deeply christian community. It was no secret the Lee was gay. Yet according to my mother and grandparents Liberace was very well liked and respected in that town. These towns people would definitely be considered fundamentalist christians now. I knew many of them. This leads to a question to be considered. When did Christianity really get on the gay hatred wagon? Because apparently this socially conservative town took to liberace very well and thought highly of him. Yet Menasha was a town where the church ruled to the point where you couldn't even buy condoms there back then. Somewhere along the line I think many Christians forgot Christ's lessons about love.

      Listen pal, perhaps the Catholic Church attacks homosexuals, but as a Christian, I've never met one Christian that truly hated gays. EVER !!!
      You see, there have been homosexuals, since long before any religion.
      In fact it was likely religion that turned people against gays in the first place.
