I do remember the "hospital privileges " question on the CAQH & Other insurance applications but what i dont remember is: Who is responsible in getting or applying for those privileges? Their Practice ir Hospital Managers/Admin or the Credentialing Specialist? Cause I believe I would ask all my MD's upfront if they had any hospital privileges and if so, which ones, hospital tax ID, addr, etc.
Yes, it all depends on if the provider worked elsewhere and someone already did it for them, or if they did it for themselves. Everyone is different. In my experience, either the practice manager or provider (or combination of both) work on the hospital privileges. That does not mean a credentialing specialist would not be able to do it. They would just need to be asked to see if they would do it for the provider.
