  • Writer's review - Mysterious Disappearances Episode 9
The story continues to evolve as newer and even more powerful Curiosities encroach upon Sumireko and her growing harem. A VTuber's silly avatar takes on a life all its own once it's been abandoned and begins destroying the lives of those who loved her the most. It's an interesting twist on old spiritual beliefs. However, there are some issues to this episode that need to be pointed out and discussed, as well as the potential in the storytelling being done here!

The anime is Mysterious Disappearances. The manga is called Mysteries, Maidens, and Mysterious Disappearances.

Damn Algorithm not letting me know when this is up......
    Anyway.
I've made my peace that this show despite being marketing as a horror isn't a horror (But the Manga!!!) SHUDDUP MANGABRO!!!
Anyway I wonder if the anime staff involved even want to do a horror they put more into the Karaoke performance of blondie and Cat Girl Twerking than another episode of a different show the same week where performance is the main hook of the show and Karaoke was a major plot point.
As a parent I think I'd not let my younger children watch Vtubers, they can be very lewd and blondie is way to eager to flash her panties, especially for her age.
I know girls aren't as "pure" as we like to make them out to be, but I think its also pretty unrealistic that all of Oko's friends are all weirdos.
Anyway the Private Tutor looked straight out of Doujin.
As for the episode itself, I think they conveyed the heart of the episode and the pressure but like you said not really the horror, if it was more episodes long we could play on it slowly driving her mad like you said.
I do find it odd you claim forgiveness is never about the person doing the forgiving, maybe we just have been consuming different media but the ones I consume its more often about the person doing the forgiving than receiving the forgiveness. Or at least those are the ones I remember.
I know this episode was slim picking, maybe you are tired or more focused on other video projects but this episode felt a little phoned in discussion and writing advice wise.
