Stagger Lee is a true murder story.Lots of artists have sung about this 1895 murder (The black keys, James Brown, even Elvis Presley !,and many others),but Nick Cave 's revisited is terrifying, gorgeous, chilling spendid,...I will never get tired of his texts and his body expressions ... the whole album "Murder Ballads" is awesome!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Thank you for this reaction !!!🔥
i just love how when he hits "in come the devil.." and outta nowhere the red headed woman appprears with outstretched arms looking like she's about to devour his mind body and soul lol it's just such a perfect moment!! thank you rory ♡
Loved this performance, iconic. Nick and band in their 50s mesmerise an audience of a much younger demographic. They even know every word. And yes that girl is sitting on her bf's shoulders and only has eyes for Nick! Oh and Stagger Lee may be gay but more likely it's a power/dominance thing imo.
Bob Dylan did a version on World Gone Wrong This version is true to original Possible best version is Mississippi John Hurts version Murder Ballads is an amazing Album O “ Malleys Bar
🔥 Your expressions were priceless 😄 *This epic performance really must be seen* --> ruclips.net/video/SPP4fSUeUBw/видео.html This is Nick's remake of a folk song that's been covered hundreds of times. He put his own special spin on it 😂 It's one thing to do a performance like this in a nightclub. It's another thing altogether to do it in a bigass festival setting...with a ton of people in the audience who had no idea what they were in for 😄 *LEGEND* 🔥 (Nick had more than a dozen songs featured in Peaky Blinders. PJ Harvey had a bunch as well.)
Yes - The Bad Seeds and Warren Ellis' manic violin in the song certainly take it to another level. You will not be disappointed the further you go down this rabbit hole. I have seen him live a number of times over decades and even as recently as last year he never disappoints live - every minute keeps you enthralled. So many to choose - '15 feet of pure white snow' great mantra , 'Papa won't leave you Henry' similar feel to Stagger Lee (live version is always great). 'Mercy Seat' - just a classic I could go on and on - just so many. ruclips.net/video/bTirB6ggE70/видео.html&ab_channel=casimin
No, look, listen to me! This live version is all very well; I wouldn't quibble with any full-throated recommendation of it. But I think that the original 'official' video is where you really should head next if you like this song: ruclips.net/video/Nbe5RERDh4k/видео.html (Incidentally, seeing you discovering my two all-time favs - Nick Cave and Pixies - in parallel is interesting for me. Both domain-changingly brilliant.)

Nick Cave lets it all hang out here - grotesque but enthralling.
