Katy Perry is a complete entertainer.
Her performances have some of the most elaborate stage sets I’ve seen along with some pretty impressive wardrobes not to be outdone by her catchy tunes.
Katy Perry was actually born Katheryn Hudson and changed her name later in life to avoid being confused with the actor Kate Hudson.
She actually got her start in gospel music. After singing in church through her childhood she was discovered by Nashville producers when singing in her church choir at the age of 15.
After heading to Nashville to develop her song-writing skills and learn guitar, she was signed to a label and released her first studio album at 17.
When her record label dissolved she moved to Los Angeles and ventured into secular music. She was signed and dropped by both Island Def Jam and Columbia Records before signing with Capitol Records in 2007.
A year later, she released her second album which catapulted her to fame. Her third album Teenage Dream was also a huge success and had five No. 1 singles, which is tied with Michael Jackson’s “Bad.”for the most ever on an album.
Katy has gone on to become one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 18 million albums and 125 million singles globally throughout her career.
In addition to her successful singing career she has acted and been a judge on American Idol since 2018.
Today I’ll be reacting to a few of her live performances including her songs “Roar” and “Dark Horse”

Dark Horse was absolutely NOT "one of her first claims to fame," though lol. At all. "I Kissed a Girl" "Hot n Cold" "Waking Up in Vegas" "California Gurls" "Teenage Dream" "Firework" "Last Friday Night" "E.T." "The One That Got Away" "Part of Me" "Roar" "Wide Awake" and "Unconditionally" ALL came out before "Dark Horse." She was already a fixture on the map. She'd be here with or without "Dark Horse."
*Our music industry has advanced so much that it is a big deal to watch someone actually singing live 😂*

Go back to the 60s and you realize a lot of artist's back then lip synced too. When you think about it, there was so much money at stake.
I think she can actually sing but has off days. People are way too harsh on her
Helix Moore I think she’s really good and has deserved a Grammy that she never got because she was always up against Lady Gaga and Lady Gaga would swipe all of the Grammys. Katy sings during all of her shows and that’s one thing I like about her on top of putting on this big production. Her inspiration was Freddie Mercury and it’s probably why some of her stuff has been a little over the top.
Oh no no no. You have to hear her since 2017. Her vocals are GREAT now.
I didn't used to really like Katy Perry, but after watching her on A.I. I just love her. She's super funny and fun, giving and has a big heart. Once in while she sings on there and it is always a big production even on there. Now I think she's really cool. :)
Katy Perry also works in her tour visuals, so you might know that the outfits, the inteludes, concepts, the remix of the songs, and also the stage structure are all produced by her principally.
also: those are not live vocals that made justice to her lol, she's has a way better vocals, she's always improving so...

I was basically beavis and butthead growing up raised on dio Van Halen old school Metallica slayer megadeath and I’m a Katy Perry fan. She’s got it all. Amazing.
I have a 20-year-old daughter who is heavy into "Cosplay" and anime and yes, it is all about costumes. The young kids are learning to sew again and the craftmanship that goes into these kinds of costumes, so perhaps that is part of the attraction in these concerts.

What I like about your videos is that their so informative. I've been scrolling on RUclips and suddenly there are a bunch of vocal coaches there I've never heard of.
I watched a few of their videos and I felt like it was on a level where I personally could just call myself a vocal coach and react to someone by giving my opinion about it. Which is something I would never do.
So. What I'm saying is that. You know what your doing.

Katy can sing a little bit and she does have some catchy songs and lyrics, but the productions are so over the top the music gets lost.
Now please do KZ's Rolling in the Deep from the singer, amazing stage presence with a world class band behind her and I need to know how much is the sound technician, I know the intro is, but what about the rest. BTW, it might be an Adele song, but it was never like this.

Since you’ve been saying that christina aguilera has been losing her voice , you should react to one of her recent “Twice” performances in the xperience or the xtour .
I would recommend that you react to Katy's new presentations, as well as the old ones. You should know that singers can also improve their vocal technique and she has done very well.
I recommend watching Katy's presentation for the David Lynch Foundation, it was great!

They both came out the exact same year, so I don't think Brave was released yet for her to copy. It's not like Halo by Beyoncé and Already Gone by Kelly Clarkson where they had the same co-writer, so I really think it's just a coincidence.

If you haven’t seen it, You should see “ California girl’s” video. 😂😂😂 she put out that song “ I kissed a girl”.. it was popular but you can only imagine the riffraff that it got when it was released from some of the ultra conservative people. Haaha !! I love a lot of her work but probably my most modern day favorite singer has to be Amy Lee from evanescence❤️❤️

I think the girl's got some "rockability."
The Dark Horse stage was really over the top. You'd think it was for some Broadway musical rather than a pop concert. As for the 2.8M lawsuit settlement, that's chump change to her being worth about 350M. Also, Shake it Off came out in 2014 so it was after Firework which came out in 2010 I believe. Can't say I'm a fan of either artist, though I was growing up when both went big, so I know many of their songs.

Am I the only that looks at the number of people on stage & thinks how much bigger her cut of the gate would be if they weren’t there? Each of these people gets paid after all 😝
Btw I watched a bootleg of one of the Spice Girls comeback gigs, the warmup was about 40 mins & they were on for about 1hr 40m. If you take out costume changes they were probably only on stage for half of the gig.
I was tempted to dip into pitch correction, compression & the death of dynamic range in a lot of music today, but what would be the point? If people buy it like that: they’ll keep mixing it like that.

Hi Ken! This is pretty obscure, but there is an American Idol winner from years ago named David Cook. Since his win, he's released albums and has toured extensively. If you ever get bored, look him up. I think he's great, and would be interested to hear your opinions about him.

Lovro TaylorSwift oh yeah!! This girl has been huge in the USA since she was 16 and now she’s 30. I remember the first year she was out, she won best new artist as well as best performer or performer of the year award at the CMAs. Wow!! Her last four albums have gone straight to number one even in the UK. She used to do a lot more country pop work and then her music doll started to change around 2013-14 & it’s probably good that it did because her albums got to the top in the UK.
Have you ever heard of a vocalist Jan Werner? I highly suggest you listen to “all by myself” and “anthem” they are both live. You don’t have to do a video on him but you should def check him out in your spare time. An incredible vocalist that unfortunately is gone way too soon.
