Hi Lamont, I've been watching your videos for a long time and logged on today and saw the intro pic of the Dealership and overpass beside, I immediately recognized it. I am from Sherman Texas and have experienced the VERY SAME thing as you at that same dealership. They are the worst example of a service department "ANYWHERE". I bought a new Ford truck from another dealership that was out of town, near Dallas. yet I lived in Sherman. The engine was shaking and missing really bad. It was under warrantee, so I took it to Bob Utter. A piston had gone bad quickly and the engine needed to be removed and the cylinders reboard out. I wasn't told that while I sat there for an entire day, waiting on the diagnosis. I was very much aware of how they operate throughout an entire shift, since I was there for one. It wasn't until the end of that day, that I was told what needed to be done. It took a week and a half to get it done. I worked in Dallas and drove it down to Dallas that morning. When I was 20 miles from Dallas, It broke down again with the same problem. I called the dealership service department and the service manager told me that the problem was my fault and that nothing was wrong with the truck when I picked it up. Now get this, He stated that he personally test drove the truck to make sure it was done right. lol, That's a big a** lie. During the full day that I sat there, the service manager only walks down the ramp from his office, to get service orders to enter into the computer, and walks back and fourth all day. He never gets into a serviced vehicle. I called him out on it. I even tried to speak with the owner, Bob Utter and they shielded him from all public contact. With no resolve, I had to keep paying on the high loan amount each month and keep it parked in the driveway until I parted ways with it down the road. I have never been treated so bad before.
They should, but they don't unless you throw a temper tantrum. I've insisted on continued work to be done and I made it clear I'd pay not one penny for it, but it took a lot of "conversing" to finally get them to do it. That's an old saying that goes back to the 70s, maybe even longer. There was a time when Ford did make a lot of crap cars in the 70s and even later. Another one is Ford = Fix or Repair Daily.
Dealerships have a minimum set fee for any vehicle brought in. Even if your repair is minor league they will upcharge on other things to reach their minimum shop fee.
Just subscribed. I'll drive my 2004 Ford Ranger until the end. The paint still looks good and runs perfectly. I've put about $2000 in it. It's been in the shop once in the shop once for a shifter cable. I bought it used in 2011. Daily driver. 18 mpg city, 109,000 original miles. New car junk, no thanks. Mine was made in the USA.
Chevy/Gmc full size vans are the best. I have a 92 GMC Vandura -- 129500 miles - still runs smooth - no problems - just regular replacement parts - tires brakes and fix stuff men like to do on Saturday. 2nd owner - going on 22 years now.
Never screw around with bad tires. I had baldies on the front of a Dodge Ram pick up one summer. I drove into a heavy downpour and went into a skid like it was a snow storm. That made me a believer in good tires!
Listen, LAMONT, Sweetie, listen up: My Late Husband always said " Look at it THIS WAY, in THIS life, you are either going to have car repairs OR car payments !
inner and outer tie rods are easy to do as are drop links did you get the wheel alighnment done any steering issues parts replaced you need wheel alighnment
Parts at a parts house are about three or four times cheaper than from a dealership. Therefore most of the time, there's no good reason to let a dealership do repairs on your vehicle unless it's under a warranty.
Now you know what it's like to tour in a band! E-series vans always have some degree of slop in the steering. The drive trains are solid - aside from the spark plug ejection issue, but the rest of the vehicle is pretty junky... especially these days when the newest one is still pretty old. Rust is catastrophic. You can't buy them from the midwest. Recently had one where the frame rusted out where the steering box is attached. The two bottom bolts were attached to nothing and the box was rocking on the top two. Terrifying. Junked it in Texas, had to finish the tour in a Uhaul. Had another one where the rear end ate itself while in between Portland and Seattle. Wasted three days, canceled three shows. Learned you shouldn't use E150's for anything close to the rated capacity.
Speaking of vehicle issues. Lamont, I've been through it since 6/20/24. I was charged $1,500 for the repairs and just picked up my truck today. I appreciate my brothers help taking me around when I needed him❤

The best mechanics no longer exist. My neighbor was an old school mechanic and I had an issue with my Mercury Grand Marquis was a 1984 with a hesitation. Take it to the dealer they put their diagnostic on it and found nothing. Take it to my neighbor retired mechanic sits in the car and reeves it up and knew what the problem was right there. This all happened back in 1994. Today they can only hook up a computer and that’s it.
Hey Lamont with them gorgeous eyes! I had left a comment earlier today, but for some reason it was deleted… I had wished you a good rest of your day ✌️
You might want to have the frame checked by a body shop to see if something is messed up some where...has it ever been in a accident? I've had several f150s and they all drove different, the newer one not as stable as the older ones
There could be other mechanical issues on your vehicle. But the rough ride might be because of the heavier duty tires on the van. Your mini van used passenger car rated tires, that's why the ride was smoother. The tires on the big van are much heavier, have thicker side walls(less give) and the vehicle will feel very squirrely on the road.
Be positive, you have new shocks and a rim plus a new front end minus the CV Joints they are expensive, but I would feel the way, you are out some money that you could have used elsewhere but could have cost you more. I miss the Shade Tree Mechanics they could fix stuff as long as you had cash, Puff-Puff.
I purchased a Chevy from a Ford Dealership, to get my self financed, they pressured a warranty and T-Bone insurance, the warranty didn't cover anything do to the mileage on the parts?, the T - Bone was covered under my regular insurance, I had no choice, my lincoln blew a heater core and I was stuck, I was given a whopping grand for my used trade in. Never again...I was charged a extra 1950.00 on top of the used car. what a rip off.
I have experienced the death wobble many many years ago on an old car. The steering wheel would shake back and forth extremely rapidly and there was no way to tighten your grip and control the steering wheel. It was extremely scary as I was going over a bridge at the time at 4 mph with nowhere to pull over. I hit the emergency flasher and slowly came to a stop with the steering wheel continuously shaking. This situation would be absent most of the days and weeks you normally would drive. All of a sudden it would happen for no known reason. I took the car into a shop I worked at and gave it a full inspection. All of the suspension bushings and joints were in good condition. The wheels and tires were not damaged in any way. There was nothing obvious and no other technician more experienced than I could explain it. If I had a proper power steering oil pressure gauge I would have installed it but duplicating the problem was too hard. I believe that the steering box might have been defective internally. I ended up selling the car and the following owner who I knew said he never had a problem but he only took short commutes. I don’t see any other steering item being at fault.
You've put so much money into it, you really should go ahead & keep it. My 2 oldest girls were born in Wilson n Jones there in Sherman. Lived there many years ago
My power steering broke and I drove it 1 cc hr and 20 min to my dealer crazy once I got there it started shaking and macanic checked it yep power steering broken so I told my macanic this suv is going to kill me and I truly believe that
They missed the problem. If it's not the shocks it's the ball joints. The balls joints are notorious in Ford trucks and vans. I have to replace the upper and lower ball joints every 2 years in my farm truck. All the joints in the front end are problems in Fords. I've become an expert at doing them all in my truck over the years. The truck was won in a race otherwise I'd never own a Ford and I definitely wouldn't pay for one. Edit notes: I shouldn't have commented until the video was over but glad you got it fixed. I knew I was right. Since it was the shocks, your net problem is going to be the lower ball joints, followed by the uppers. If the lowers go out you might as well do the uppers while it's all apart.
.As a woman, I'm glad I have a great mechanic I can trust. He is honest and reasonable with his prices. I won't buy anything but a Toyota. Last year I gave my grandson my 2004 Camry. My mechanic said it's still a great running car and it has over 310,000 miles. I'm faithful with oil changes, transmission flushes, etc. I now have a 2021 Corolla with 62,000 miles.

When I first got into the automotive business at age 18 I already had years of experience. I did my first engine overhaul when I was 12 years old. Shops used to be filled with mechanics that started working on cars at a very young age. You have to understand the things have changed. The modern "technician" today starts out with little experience. Their previous job was pushing a broom and their job before that was picking cantaloupes. The automotive industry has worked themselves into a corner that's going to be very painful to get out of. Your experience is not unusual and pretty much nationwide today.
Do you have a written estimate? If so & the problem wasn't fixed, here in Illinois you can get your money back. @@cutehumor I bought 2 new vehicles there , take them in for service, also a used truck, extremely honest, my mom's car had a rattle sound, I thought probably the exhaust system, This is so funny, her great grandson had unlatched the backseat, it was rattling, they didn't charge me, they could have said it was the exhaust system as the car was 15 years old.
@@monsterglo Where the heck is Paris Tennessee?
If it's in the middle of nowhere that's why it's $65 an hour
@@StayingBack71 A friend of mine lives in Paris, TN , it is Not in the middle of nowhere lol , surprised you didn't Google it 🤔 I live in Northern CA , definitely located in the middle of nowhere, nearest dealership is 65 miles from my residence, rates are 135.00 hr. Quite reasonable for CA
FYI there are 4 Auto dealerships within a 35 mile radius of Paris TN definitely not in the middle of nowhere, seriously prices are quite reasonable in Northwest, TN
I couldn't live there because it's very hot and humid 🤒 Take care 💙
The most versatile tool in any mechanics toolbox is the customers wallet.
Im just glad you bought a damn new van, you remind me of myself but I do that when I need a new pack of hanes shirts.
I am saddened that you had to go through this experience. Take Care
The shop that actually did the repair was absolutely correct. It is called high road force and it usually comes from very cheap tires.
High road force, road dieting, wtf is up w/the English language nowadays???
Long story short and you helped us with the answer. Buy used vehicles with an open mind plus start replacing from the tires. Thanks.
FORD STANDS FOR FOUND ON ROAD DEAD
Dumb.
Found on Road Driven.
First on Race Day.
Ford is wonderful. I'm heading towards 200,000 miles, and never a single problem.
That's an old saying that goes back to the 70s, maybe even longer. There was a time when Ford did make a lot of crap cars in the 70s and even later. Another one is Ford = Fix or Repair Daily.
F O R D. Fucked. Over. Rebuilt. Dodge
Your Mini Van thought it was a Jeep 😂😂😂😂
I will never buy a car from that Ford scammer dealership ever!🤬🤬🤬
Sounds like you got scammed over buddy.
Dealerships have a minimum set fee for any vehicle brought in. Even if your repair is minor league they will upcharge on other things to reach
their minimum shop fee.
Happy you got it all sorted out!
I call them STEALERSHIPS
Dealerships are a scam. Less you're under warranty never go to one.
On the bright side it was not a rimm job
A rimm job is waaay better any day.
Well it kinda was as one wheel (rim) had a hop in it or see they say
Glad you got the van fixed 😊
Time is precious, time is money for you!!! 😅
It took me 3 mechanics and over two years to repair my AC. It’s still not perfect but I can rely on it now. I’m in the inland empire, it gets HOT.
Very hot and steamy out there
08:37 "not to steal Ford's motto"
That's Chevy
Listen, LAMONT, Sweetie, listen up: My Late Husband always said " Look at it THIS WAY, in THIS life, you are either going to have car repairs OR car payments !
This is so true, other than buying a Toyota, which definitely cost more, and they definitely don’t have a body on frame van
Be careful Lamont on the road! 😊 Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸😊🇺🇸😊🇺🇸
inner and outer tie rods are easy to do as are drop links did you get the wheel alighnment done any steering issues parts replaced you need wheel alighnment
Damn, I remember Utter Ford in Denton. Not sure if it's still there. They had "Utterly Affordable" billboards.
Dam that's messed up. Sorry for that. Idiots everywhere. Thank you Lamont. Good luck
Speaking of vehicle issues. Lamont, I've been through it since 6/20/24. I was charged $1,500 for the repairs and just picked up my truck today. I appreciate my brothers help taking me around when I needed him❤
I'll be mad somebody take all my money like that I've been turning bolts on vehicles most of my life my father was mechanic taught me don't rip off the public my father worked working automotive for over 40 years before he retired you fixed the problem nowadays everybody's out for a damn dollar won't fix your s***I still work on vehicles a little bit I'm retired due to sickness I do small brake jobs troubleshooting on cars and if I find something else wrong with the vehicle I'll let them know the whole world has been turned into a bunch of thieves anyway I love your stuff send me more be careful who you deal with fixing your ride 😁👍
Ball joints ,stabilizer,?Wow shocks and tires, hmm.
They didn't care what the trouble with his van was. They just wanted to sell him some parts, a charge him the most they could get.
If the problem isn’t resolved then you shouldn’t have to pay. It’s not your fault they can’t do their job.
I had left a comment earlier today, but for some reason it was deleted…
I had wished you a good rest of your day ✌️
You drive a Ford Lamont, nuff said 😂
Dumb.
You might want to have the frame checked by a body shop to see if something is messed up some where...has it ever been in a accident? I've had several f150s and they all drove different, the newer one not as stable as the older ones
If I had to drive it, I wouldn't have a ford as a gift.
Best comment on this video! I totally concur!
@@LWalks64me as well.
Lamont is a Homie I never met.
My alternator on my truck just went out again.. I’ve been through 2 in the past year and a new battery
Solid as a rock ! Is Chevy not fail I mean ford 😂
My power steering broke and I drove it 1 cc hr and 20 min to my dealer crazy once I got there it started shaking and macanic checked it yep power steering broken so I told my macanic this suv is going to kill me and I truly believe that
Like a rock is Chevy NOT Ford lmao😅
That’s why I don’t trust mechanic shops, all they want is to rip you off. Glad your van is fixed
👋 👋 hello from the uk 🇬🇧
Hey Lamont. I'm subbed to your channel, and the RUclips algorithm is being an ass again. Like I never get any of your notifications. This is crazy. Like this video has been up almost 24 hrs. and I am just seeing this video. Crazy!
A real mechanic, is a true detective , you found the truth at the end , buddy ! ! !
Auto places are always running it up on ppl, touchin thing's that don't need fixing and trying to run up a bill !
They should be ashamed.. smh
I bought brand new name brand tires and come to find out the tires were defective cause they sat in the rack for a while and the weather kept getting hot cold cold hot
They could have fixed road force by moving the tyre on the rim using the machine to mark the tyre
Do you have a written estimate? If so & the problem wasn't fixed, here in Illinois you can get your money back. Happened to me so i contacted the Attorney General & within 3 weeks i had a check & a letter of apology from repair shop.
That much money & they didnt fix it? You better believe i'd have a complaint form already filled out & sent
Lamont never ever buy a used vehicle without getting an A-1 mechanic to inspect it! Period. 350 Ford van. That sucker drinks gas like fish does water. With the money you put in it. Drive it a year. Cross fingers it lasts before something else happens & trade it away!😅
Sounds like Bob needs a talking too. I'm from Canada I wouldn't put up that, it would be Walking tall the movie all over again.
20 yrs ago, Got 4 new tires on my Ford Explorer. Next day take off with my kids to FL , hitting the highway,,, OMG,, vibrations wobble etc, over 60 mph. So I drive to FL (Slow.) Over the next year I had all kinds of work done,,, no help. Finally take it to a Ford Dealership, they say ya need new tires,,, I go no way! But I buy em and , ta-da issues all gone. Go Figure...
