Well, the AF-D version became less good when the AF-S came out. There is no shame in being superseded with time. I'm actually buying this AF-S version even though I have a full kit Nikon Z, including the razor sharp Z version of this lens, because I'm going to shoot film on a Nikon F100 and it obviously needs a proper F mount lens. The Tamron 85mm F1.8 VC is the better lens with a slight margin in image quality, but I is not compatible with older Nikon bodies.
One of the best values in the Nikon ecosystem. It is surprisingly light and produces wonderful images. Great lens. Sharper than the 1.4g. Some people love the 1.4d… the lens to really lust after is the RF canon 1.2, at 10x the cost of the 1.8g. @@BoostLeekdMedia I have never gotten a used lens, do you think they are still worth it?
@@victorias1209 100% worth it, especially if the lenses are in great condition. Bought all of my Nikon lenses used except for my Nikon Z lenses.
Hey how does this lens works with the z body? The autofocus works good?
Yes it does! I love using this 85 on my Z6!
If you want a pinnacle DSLR of Nikon, you gotta get a D700, you'll sell your D750 and/or stop using it😂 and the CSC AKA mirrorless.

Is it me - or is the totally unnecessary music REALLY distracting? Had to bail out in less than 2 minutes...
I just bought it and no idea wtf I’m doing lol
lol best way to learn with it is to use it. There isnt a "perfect" setting for this lens since it really depends on the amount of light you're working with. If its daylight outside, put the camera in "aperture mode" and put the aperture at F/1.8 and start taking pics. I hope this helps!
RUclips it's your friend.......some times.

Would it work with the Nikon Z50, which has no stabilizer too? Is this a problem?
As long as you have the FTZ adapter, it should work 100% with the Z50.
@@BoostLeekdMedia But ist not stabilized …
@@fraglutz Just make sure your shutter speed is above or faster than 1/250. I wouldn't be afraid to use iso1000-6400 on the Z50 too.
