2010s as well..except maybe the Jeremy Lin two weeks. Which makes it all the more funny when people try to claim that CArmelo Anthony carries the Knicks. The only exciting period for the Knicks since he arrived was the 2 weeks that he was injured and the Knicks actually played TEAM basketball.
Not only is this a crazy great play, but Gus Johnson commentary is the greatest thing ever: "Now it has to be a tip....as they throw it AT THE BAAAAAAAAAASKEEEEEEEEET! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" Epic win.
Thanks for posting this. I was reminded today that I went to this game I totally forgot this happened and I was here!I clearly remember Jordan and Amad Rashad being shown in the big screen then a few minutes later they show starks dunk on Jordan and the whole crowd went crazy lol
More like "James Dolan's Knicks." Isiah was just a result of James Dolan's incompetence. But I guess that is to be expected when you have no business or sports knowledge and your daddy buys you Madison Square Garden because you've been a good little boy.
Oh god...you much be a child. One who was never picked in gym class. Not even last. A jackass screaming over every little thing does not make for a good sportscaster. And Gus Johnson does this same exact call whether it is a game winning tip in on an inbounds pass with 0.1 seconds left, or it is a layup in the third quarter of a 27 point game.
atmosphere was intense... the crowd stood up and went nuts for about 5 minutes... we were all in disbelief... even better that it was the only nba game I will ever get to see live.
david lee is the best player on the knicks. This was an unbelievable shot and I dont know how he did it but he always seems to bring excitement to the garden even in a losing season
That was obvious. I think they made a rule change or something because nobody can catch and shoot with .1 on the clock, like Tucker Did. The only way is a tip.
yeah thats so true. i was at the game and i saw him cradle it. i cant believe they counted it...it looks like a tip from that right angle. its still unbelievable. terrible for the bobcats.
that is amazing david lee is the second one in nba history 1st is trent tucker which was on the knicks and bet the bulls that time they had micheal jordan and they still bet them wow two amazing plays for the knicks
I lived in the same apartment building with David Lee at the time. By coincidence, I saw this replay on Sports Center, then walked down the hall and got on the elevator. David was in my elevator. Casually, I said, "Nice tip-in." He smiled broadly.
Beautiful play. The Trent Tucker incident, on the other hand, was complete bullshit. The clock didn't start until the ball was nearly going through the hoop. That is one LONG tenth of a second. I guess that the Knicks got some "home court advantage" that night.
Sorry...but ACTUAL sports fans don't think that screaming like a child makes forget announcing. For every play that actually warrants an enthusiastic call, Johnson screams like an idiot over 20 mundane calls. Great for children who never get picked in gym class, not even last. But not for real sports fans.
I think so too, he's just got to put his mind into it... He used to be my favorite player back when he was with the Nets... If he can get back to this level (~20 pts 8 assists), we could have shades of 2001 ASG...
Dude.....the timekeeper is only human. They're not going to start the clock at the most exact and approximate point he touches the ball. For David Lee to do that was extremely lucky.
one of the greatest, most memorable moments in franchise history maybe. not sure what clyde was on though... he went from saying "the only thing the knicks can do is an alley-oop to the hoop" to "so as we were talking we mentioned that an alley-oop *can't* go..." like... what? lol
The reason why it counts, and SHOULD count is simple....The refs allow for human reaction time by the clock keeper when the blow the whistle to STOP the clock. So they have to allow for his reaction time when he STARTS the clock too. If you go back in this game, Stephon Marbury calls time out and the whistle blows with AT LEAST 0.3 seconds left. It then takes the time keeper a little bit to stop it. Same thing.
knicks can be great, build the franchise around Lee and the young guns like Crawford and Robinson, Lee is so underrated everytime I look at a box score of the knicks or anything like that he always has like 10+ boards, valuable player to have.
No less than 0.3 must expire on the game clock when a player secures possession of an inbounds pass and then attempts a field goal. If less than :0.3 expires in such a situation, the timer will be instructed to deduct at least :0.3 from the game clock. If less than :00.3 remain on the game clock when this situation occurs, the period is over, and the field goal attempt will be disallowed immediately whether successful or unsuccessful.
I agree. It was a true tip, not an alley oop where you hold on to the ball. The tip is the only way to touch the ball and hold it for less than .1 seconds
gwall (and other complaing about hte clock starting late) this is a perfectly legal shot. The reason they made the 0.3 second rule is to allow for human reaction time. Why, you may ask? Because the time keeer has a reaction time for both starting ther clock AND stopping it. If I included the previous couple minutes of this play, you would see than the Knicks called a tiem out with at least 0.4 seconds left but the clock kept running to 0.1 due to reaction time. This play is completely legal.
hey thanks for the official standing on MJ-loving 162bombs...im pretty sure every knick fan i know including myself hated MJ with a passion, BUT, respected him more than any other fans...altho im sure the Cav and Jazz fans arent too far behind
I have no idea what happened to the resolution. This used to be watchable. Maybe when Viacom took ownership of this, they degraded it.
I WAS AT THIS GAME!!!! the only basketball game i have ever seen and my fiirst trip to the USA, purely epic!!!!!
Patrick Ewing and MJ looking like two mob bosses
Literally the only highlight of the 2000s Knicks
2010s as well..except maybe the Jeremy Lin two weeks. Which makes it all the more funny when people try to claim that CArmelo Anthony carries the Knicks. The only exciting period for the Knicks since he arrived was the 2 weeks that he was injured and the Knicks actually played TEAM basketball.
KnickKnack07 2012 season?
I remember this, the Eddy Curry buzzer beater, and Nate Robinson blocking Yao Ming.
@@KnickKnack07 I know this comment is old as hell, but you clearly didn’t see Melos 2 buzzer beating 3’s against the Bulls on Easter.
Not only is this a crazy great play, but Gus Johnson commentary is the greatest thing ever: "Now it has to be a tip....as they throw it AT THE BAAAAAAAAAASKEEEEEEEEET! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"
Epic win.
as they throw it out the baskeeEEEET OHHHH DAVID LEE, TIPS IT IN OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!
This is amazing. I love the way David Lee plays. i cant believe he never made over 40+. The d8 for this was december 20 2006.
gus john sons reaction tho lmfao
Thanks for posting this. I was reminded today that I went to this game I totally forgot this happened and I was here!I clearly remember Jordan and Amad Rashad being shown in the big screen then a few minutes later they show starks dunk on Jordan and the whole crowd went crazy lol
we travelled all the way from australia and only got to see one NY Knicks game and this is the one we saw... brilliant!
isiah's Knicks. oh what a team.
More like "James Dolan's Knicks." Isiah was just a result of James Dolan's incompetence.
But I guess that is to be expected when you have no business or sports knowledge and your daddy buys you Madison Square Garden because you've been a good little boy.
its isiah's knicks stfu
Bruh the Knicks had Mike Breen and the main broadcaster and Gus Johnson as the backup at one point. That’s elite
This was the first Knick game I ever went to. Pretty sure it was destiny for me to be a fan after this, no matter how terrible they are, haha.
kinda cool how the knicks bench just erupted when the shot as made
now jordan knows what it feels like to lose by a buzzer beater
david lee is the best player on the knicks. This was an unbelievable shot and I dont know how he did it but he always seems to bring excitement to the garden even in a losing season
Thumbs up if you think that in the Trent Tucker flashback, the guy pressed the button a full second too late?
That was obvious. I think they made a rule change or something because nobody can catch and shoot with .1 on the clock, like Tucker Did. The only way is a tip.
yeah thats so true. i was at the game and i saw him cradle it. i cant believe they counted it...it looks like a tip from that right angle. its still unbelievable. terrible for the bobcats.
The garden went crazy!!!
Gus makes every game he announces a classic
that is amazing david lee is the second one in nba history 1st is trent tucker which was on the knicks and bet the bulls that time they had micheal jordan and they still bet them wow two amazing plays for the knicks
david lee rocks and roll, that night when they said david's shot won the game I started to cry.
Woww. In front of MJ and Pat Ewing? LEGENDARY. XD
that was their first win of the season
love the taunting of MJ
This proves that not just every second counts, but even tenths of seconds count in basketball. This game came down to .1 seconds.
It is amazing! The Garden holds a little under 20,000 but according to the comments on this video, at least 50,000 people were at that game live!
man crazy play one of the best game winners ever
This was on of the best knicks finishes.
I lived in the same apartment building with David Lee at the time. By coincidence, I saw this replay on Sports Center, then walked down the hall and got on the elevator. David was in my elevator. Casually, I said, "Nice tip-in." He smiled broadly.
It was a great play no question, but it being in front of MJ made it all the more special
Gus Johnson rocks. Dont even know why he doesnt do Knicks games anymore
the rules say it has to be a tip in in under
00.3 seconds so it wouldve counted
David Lee's a rising star
i live in england went over to the states for christmas and saw this game, was my first ever bball game was amazing!!!!!!!
good to see Jordan and Ewing back at the Garden
great tip by d-lee, but how about the tremendous pass by jamal crawford?
Beautiful play. The Trent Tucker incident, on the other hand, was complete bullshit. The clock didn't start until the ball was nearly going through the hoop. That is one LONG tenth of a second. I guess that the Knicks got some "home court advantage" that night.
im gonna miss Gus Johnson..he was awesome man
Gus Johnson should have been made the main Knicks announcer. With all due respect to Mike Breen, who is more of a national announcer now.
He beat the red light, that's all that matters.
Whose here after RJ buzzer beater?
wow the knicks accomplished somthing...
Nah, loudest cheer at MSG was the LJ four point play in '99.
best buzzer beater....EVER
Impossible tip-in
credits to Crawford for the pass
My bad well I on TV I usually catch Mike Breen. Does Johnson do radio?
only knicks game i went to that season...AWESOME
I never quit trying. I never felt that I didn't have a chance to win. I had a buzzer beater once too!! What a feeling!
damn, MJ felt crunchy after that play
he was probably too amazed on how lee got that insane shot lol
First as a player with the Bulls in 1990 and with the Bobcats as a co-owner in this game! WOW!
I think so too, he's just got to put his mind into it...
He used to be my favorite player back when he was with the Nets... If he can get back to this level (~20 pts 8 assists), we could have shades of 2001 ASG...
I like how the commentator yells uncontrollably (thanks for the headphone warning)
that was a pretty good pass from crawford also
ohh man i remeber this game.. David Lee should be an all star..
@S1RCHARL3S I am pretty sure Marbury's was first. But they were back to back.
anyone know that motown song playing during the timeout
Best quality ever
whats a trend tucker rule? can you explain it to me?
I was there!!!!
mark my words....2010....The start in the Rise of the New York Knickerbockers.....
GO NY GO NY GO NY GOOOO!!!!!
lmao @ isiah walks off like "yea I called that shit..."
Dude.....the timekeeper is only human. They're not going to start the clock at the most exact and approximate point he touches the ball. For David Lee to do that was extremely lucky.
Michael Jordan was having flashbacks of Trent Tucker again!
@S1RCHARL3S wrong. i was at both games. marbury's game winner was 1 or 2 days beforehand.
childhood memories
Word up❗️
IT COUNTS
what day and year was this
Wasnt this game on a previous Christmas?
one of the greatest, most memorable moments in franchise history maybe. not sure what clyde was on though... he went from saying "the only thing the knicks can do is an alley-oop to the hoop" to "so as we were talking we mentioned that an alley-oop *can't* go..." like... what? lol
what date did this happen
amazing play
Whats with the dudes harassing MJ? Are you serious? I'm a Jazz fan, no MJ fan. But you have no right to even touch the man ;)
0:52 People are saying to Jordan, "You never did that!"
Same thing.
simply awesome..
yea and when the do trade him, he's going to a team that wins a title. that's what happened with Ariza.
How that hell do you go to double ot with the BOBCATS?!
@dwadefan4lyfe2 hows this statement looking now? amare is a top-5 mvp candidate and getting tons of rebounds.
David Lee's my favorite knick!
He's a human sweater-vest
knicks can be great, build the franchise around Lee and the young guns like Crawford and Robinson, Lee is so underrated everytime I look at a box score of the knicks or anything like that he always has like 10+ boards, valuable player to have.
lmao isiah was like " fuck that shit, im out" :DD
i swear that year there had to be about 5 buzzer beaters maybe more.. damn knicks never makes anything easy.. i was listening to this on 1050.
Gus Johnson is the man
Who inbounded the ball?
i think this is the greatest buzzer beater i've ever seen. d. lee should carry the knicks to the playoffs.****
i looked all over youtube 4 dis video....i live in ny and saw dis live
@hypnoticluv oh wow. you're a BALTIMORE BULLET fan from the 1970's , right ?
No less than 0.3 must expire on the game clock when a player secures possession of an inbounds pass and then attempts a field goal. If less than :00.3 remain on the game clock when this situation occurs, the period is over, and the field goal attempt will be disallowed immediately whether successful or unsuccessful.
Marbury, Balkman, Curry, Isaiah...the good old days
I know... That's why I said "SOME of these players"... I mostly meant Randolph and Marbury...
I agree. It was a true tip, not an alley oop where you hold on to the ball. The tip is the only way to touch the ball and hold it for less than .1 seconds
Bangin in the bay!!! Glad your on the Dubs now!
is that jordan??
gwall (and other complaing about hte clock starting late) this is a perfectly legal shot. The reason they made the 0.3 second rule is to allow for human reaction time. Why, you may ask? 0:53 i love how jordan says to fans "bullshit" :D
hey thanks for the official standing on MJ-loving 162bombs...im pretty sure every knick fan i know including myself hated MJ with a passion, BUT, respected him more than any other fans...altho im sure the Cav and Jazz fans arent too far behind
What were the Bobcats doing gaurding Eddy Curry and Marbury all the way out there? lol. Bad coaching...
