    Set this stage up, with the rigging crew in Munich! Now days it's all much easier! In the 80's we had to build the bloody stages from the ground up with scaffolding! We worked with less people, and set a World record in Munich! We were THE BEST STAGE CREW till the mid 90's! Them most the crew left for the States, and then there were only 5 of the original "Stage Slaves" left over! Now they use 80-100 stage hands when we were using 40-60!
    Past glories!! Last gig I set up was "Pink" in 2010.
    Game over!!

    @gogzy, I spoke today with the tour's lighting designer. The slowest load out for the full package of sound, lights, and stage (not including the claw and false floor) was 15 hours from the first date, with the speed record being a little over 3 hours. The claw took another two days to get out after that.

    I agree with JonnyTRex99: At Wembley Bono or Edge did not face the seats at the end of the field to the rear of the stage.

    yes, at the start of the tour though it took even longer, because it was the first proper time dismantling it as fast as they can where as the test build lasted 3 weeks.
    the quickest they ever got the stage down and last truck away was 13 hours. my mate was one of the riggers on that tour and i was one of those drivers in the film in the black trucks.

    Not having this huge claw would make a way bigger difference than altering their mode of transportation. That being said, flying on a commercial airliner would be better than a private jet.
    I vote they leg it/sail around the world ;D (just kidding....obviously)

    QUESTION: 55 trucks for "ZOO TV", 120 trucks for "360deg". I have not been to 360 yet but from what I've seen, this doesn't seem to even come close to ZOO TV! What do you think?

    Actually, ticket prices have been affordable with a range of prices from $30 to $500 and auctions running $250 to $500.
    Right now! You can get a ticket into see the Dallas Show for $18.
    When was the last time you saw band deliver those prices for a show like this? Roger Waters?

    I saw Roger Waters in Omaha and then in Dallas either show was more moving than the U2 show I saw in Norman. A couple who flew in from Chicago to see U2 for the second time in Norman said the Norman show was better. I would pay to see Waters or Gilmore again but not $100 to see U2 again.

    Amazing!! So how many of these setups are there? Assuming they do a gig every other night and each rig takes 8 days to build?
    Also, they had the black material hanging from the ceiling in Cardiff too - are they supposed to be baffles for sound??

    U2s CO2 emissions on this tour are the equivalent of the waste created by 6,500 average British or Irish people in an entire year, or equal to leaving a standard 100 watt lightbulb on for 159,000 years.
    Their also traveling 70,000 air miles for a 100-date tour on their private jet. If you're telling me that doesn't "make a difference", you're barking, man.
    On a side note, I'm not a hippy, nor do I hug trees....

    Ya you take out the big stage in the back and stick a little one in the middle...more space made for people=more tickets made for people. They didn't want to be different and new...they wanted more money.

    To offset this years carbon emissions, U2 would need to plant 20,118 trees....
    Also, carbon offsets are ridiculous. It's trying to make up for something that doesn't need to have happened in the first place.

    Not one million each - about 15 million stg each for the metal structure. Still they are giving them away at the end. Apparently all the gear cost about 90m including the lights and speakers and stuff

  • @martyg565
    @martyg565 12 лет назад

    8 days work is justified, if you can get 80,000 people to pay £60/£70 each to come see you for 2 hours. those were estimates, but that gig alone would gross £5,600,000 (£5.6 million). taking wages for labour, venue hire etc out of that, i think you will find they still make a fair amount. It isn't a question of time, or how green it is, it is a question of money, big gigs always are.

    @pglee the only venue that i know of in Colorado that the union does is redrocks, which i hear sucks, also they are offering medical and while i do think that unions are a good thing, they are not right for everyone and every purpose. it is just as ignorant to blatantly say don't go with this one company as it would to say don't go with a union. also sometimes unions can become bloated and overly bureaucratic entities that they once stood against. also i think any company that is creating jobs

    This whole claw thing completely invalidates any stance of environmental activism that U2 has taken or will take in future.
    Gigantic waste of money and resources.
    Also, IMO, it looks daft and fugly.

  • @bartolo25
    @bartolo25 15 лет назад

    Considering the quality of the last two albums, U2 is becoming a rubbish band. Only their fame save them, not their music. There are young bands quite more interesting than U2 today.

  • @GAK_Clips
    @GAK_Clips 14 лет назад

    This band's becoming musically more and more irrelevant so they compensate that by constructing an environmentally disastrous stage setup and then preach love and peace. And people are buying that! The only thing Bono and his brothers in crime are trustworthy in would be in teaching how to save taxes.
