They have problems on the left, the right, the middle, the front, and the back
At least the center is solid
@@highqualityorangejuice420 it WAS until Southgate decided that he would rather have Trent there than Wharton or Mainoo
@@F1megafan33 Not very good choices either way
The right of the left side is a problem too
Also the left of center
Add to there the left of the right side too
Other than that it is perfect
This made me laugh 🤣🤣🤣
Bit simplified. The balance of the team is wrong playing good players rather than the right players to have a good team
Facts, he's just trying to play the best players possible rather than playing the players that will fit best together
Agreed, Trent isn't giving the team what they need and they need a more dynamic 8 next to Rice to play in a more box to box role. The front 4 feel very separated from the rest of the team and we can see it from bad passes and how attackers seem so isolated
It’s like the 2000s when the manager tired to fit Gerard, Lampard and Scholes into midfield when really it should’ve been 2 of the 3
@eddwincedeno5387 waffle... trent is exactly what we need. The issue is NO ONE RUNS IN BEHIND. And the few times someone does run in behind he gets ignored and the ball gets passed sideways
@@hebisty4163 Yes we do need Trent in RB. Walker RCB for cover when Trent goes forward. Bring Jude back where Trent was beside Rice. Bring in Either Gordon or Eze on the LW and put Foden in the 10 Role.
I finally become old enough to see two england golden generations got screwed by their tactless coaches.
In summary: Southgate has royally screwed this up
💯
Not his fault... his left backs are injured, his right backs are deffensive.
@adilyricist1388 Then why dosent he play trent right back
@@Somethingrandom_yt his deffending sucks i guess? I dont know though
@@adilyricist1388 you will never know if you dont give him a chance

@@EhtesamUddinPrince I think that makes it 1 more every 50 attacks, how am I wrong?
@@EhtesamUddinPrinceit’s never going to be perfectly matched 😂
@@42stekcomparing a rw/cam to a natural number 8? Really now
Bruh the way y’all are tripping over yourselves to get an excuse for Foden’s play is getting kind of silly. Bench Foden and play Gordon. Have Foden come in as a sub for Jude then you’ll have more balance.
Makes it even worse
Trippier will have to invert cuz Gordon wants to hug the touchline
Trent still remains deep which will then force Rice into the left half space where Bellingham is
Causing the same problem but in a different way
England problems are just bigger than that mate! Tactics is an important aspect of the team and England doesn't have that🙂
@@mumindanmallamtrippier inverting would be preferable he's right footed so cutting in allows him to use his right foot for passes conventional wisdom says a wrong footed full back should be inverted. However I do agree the answer isn't bench foden. It's dropping jude Bellingham back into the role trent is currently playing, playing foden as the 10 as a midfield of rice, Bellingham and foden is well balanced and then you bring Gordon or eze in as left winger and maybe even switch trent with trippier (this is much more debatable) who's probably a better inverted wing back than trippier tbh
@@oliverparrish5470 the problem with him inverting is the same with Trent playing in midfield
@@oliverparrish5470 Bench trippier for a left footed fullback
All these mind-numbing friendlies, only for Southgate to start experimenting when the tournament comes around 😂
Ya. England against Denmark looked devoid of any ideas to score goals
Start Gomez at LB, he can stay back and function as a 3rd CB in transition, this would then free Walker to stay higher up
Or switch up the system slightly so it's more like our 2018 side, Trent at RWB and Walker at RCB, Rice and Wharton/Mainoo/Gallagher at CM, and two of Foden, Jude and Saka in behind Kane
Kane has been the biggest issue for England. You actually don't need to change anything other then Kane out of the system and have someone that makes runs in behind, creating more space for Foden and Jude and giving an outlet to Trent since no one else in the team is willing to make runs.
If you have someone as skilled as Trent in midfield, you need to have wide players that stretch the defence and a 9 that makes runs in behind.
Playing Trent at RB or RWB will solve nothing since he'd still have no output for his passes.
Something that would instantly make England more dangerous with Trent on the pitch(position doesn't matter) is by benching Foden and Kane and play Gordon and Watkins.
The players are all wrong because no one benefits from another's speciality and they get in each others way. But the biggest issue is that the system isn't built to take advantage of the creativity available in the team. And that's simply down to an inept manager.
put trent at rb then
Then Tripper a defensive inverted leftback, Left winger on a touch line Trent will hold width on the right, but Saka also wants to hold width, but can play in the half spaces so it could work
@@BreezeElna-gi6dishaw left back when fit, gordon for foden, trent right back and mainoo in for trent and this team is so balanced
@@ryan_lmaoGordon???? Swap Jude and Foden around
@@Schlesticle gordon provides width and drives at centre backs, and if kane decides to drop deep can provide runs in behind
And Gomez at leftback.
Why is bro coaching like any of this information isn't available to him, there's a huge sample size of how best to use these players to win games at the highest level and he's still set in his ways
Foden inverting and Trippier not making runs are denying Trent the opportunity for long passes. Gordon would unlock that. Also please just play Gomez instead of Trippier.
play shaw
@@cowcool201 Even Southgate isn't daft enough to leave out Shaw. He's injured bud.
Clever way to say drop Trent😅
Exactly, if we're too defensive on the right cause trent and walker are both sitting then just bring in a more balanced 8 like Mainoo or bring Jude back to the 8, foden to the 10 and we can bring in Gordon on the left. Gordon would also benefit Kane as he plays a similar profile as Sterling did for England which was a great duo for us
Not gonna make any difference whatsoever, there’s bigger problems in the team which won’t be solved with Southgate in charge
@@ffbear8078 Indeed. The Trent experiment is an insult to the Euros. If he doesn’t learn and change things in the next game, he is indeed an incompetent manager.
Trent created the most big chances and the most through ball for England despite being subbed off around 55 min marker. I don’t think he played well but neither did anyone bar saka.
However, if Southgate wants to stick to this braindead defensive football, then yes, Trent doesn't work.@@QTC1688
Englands problem is southgate… I am not English and I really don’t understand why he has been the coach for so long.
Lol. England are fun.
Is Foden not capable of holding width? Can he not follow that instruction?
You will be wasting his talent, he obviously wants to play with the ball, that's why he comes inside
@@BreezeElna-gi6di then he should not start. If the team needs the LW to stretch the play and occupy the LW space, Gordon should start. Being good in that City Team doesn’t automatically mean he has to start. This is Lampard, Scholes, Gerrard all over again
its just not his natural position tho. He’s a natural 10, since academy level, imo jude is not creative enough to play that role, hes naturally an 8 and we saw that beautiful pass to watkins from the 8 position earlier today. play foden as a 10, with jude as an 8 and allow stones to drift into midfield with gordon providing width and pace.
Oh so basically all our hopes are on Shaws fitness
Long life to Southgate! Keep him on the bench until at least 2026 so yall will keep playing like crap and the rest of the world will have it easier
My thoughts on this is everything can be solved by moving some players around.
Saka on the left, Foden on the right, Walker as the LB and Trippier as the RB (Hear me out please!)
Saka can act as a norminal winger on the left besides he has a decent right foot, this in turn allows Bellingham to occupy the left half-space.
Foden on the right allows him to drift in on his very strong left foot occupying the right half space which allows for an overlapping fullback, in comes Trippier to deliver dangerous crosses and hold the width on tge right.
Walker should be able to replicate his defensive know-how on the left as an auxillary centre back which in turn lets Guehi become the central centre back and stones the right centre back.
With the above tactical adjustments a double pivot of Trent and Rice might work.
These sound great!
Initially I was put off by the suggestion of having Saka moved out of the right side where he excels, but it’s well worth it if it lets both Bellingham and Foden roam into central areas. (As you explain)
This is the best alternative if Southgate wants to keep the same XI. Well thought out, excellent
@@yoyoyodaboy Thanks
@@hitthurdeaux Thanks
so no actual left back?
The most pressing concern is sorting Southgate out. How are we gonna compete for the trophy if we can't even beat Denmark
The problem is Kane, just ask Bayern. 😅
How are we gonna win the world cup if we lose to Saudi 😂😂😂
Well, they don't have Messi or FIFA's backing, if you are a salty Ronaldo's fan.
Denmark are a good B-tier team just like England and the Netherlands. Hell they've actually won the Euros.
But it's rare for a team in that tier to win a trophy. They're not A-tier like Spain, France or Germany.
It's funny how the English always blame the current tactic or the current coach, when no coach and no tactic has ever won them the Euros.
England is a small country compared to Germany and France, and it doesn't have the climate like Spain, Italy and Portugal that's also conducive for kids to play all year on the cheap without indoor facilities and upkeep. The kind of facilities the Danes loves investing in.
You either field a British team including Welsh, Scottish and Irish players alongside the English to make up for the German and French numbers advantage. Larger pool, bigger chance of talent like a Gareth Bale.
Or you can invest more heavily in publically supported and funded sports and youth programs like the Danes. It's a funny quirk but half our sports victories are essentially down to having had our versions Jeremy Corbyn a generation back making sure there were after school sports available for anyone.
Tiny country. World class footballers, Tour de France winners, Grand Slam tennis players etc.
The third option is wait for climate change to kick in and give the UK a Portuguese climate.
But that's what England lacks. Not a tactic but a logistical change increasing the pool of viable players to the same pool Germany, Spain or France can draw from.
Or you boost the attack 10% and loose something in the defense 10%, boost the left wing 10% and lose something on the right 10%, just an eternal seesaw.
@@FirstnameLastname-kn5sw Uruguay has the same issues yet produces half of the world's best football. And there is no way your climate is worse than Croatia and Germany from autumn until the next summer.
Your problem is you never leave your country, and you feed too much on our own hype. English players who leave learn a lot of humility and then become sensational. But you do you. It's been how many years again since the fluke in 1966? Exactly.
Maybe they'll learn after 100 years.
Grealish watching all these while eating a steak and chilling by the pool 😅😂😂, sh*t decision from GS to not include him.
This is how you criticize england manager politely
Couldn’t be simpler. Bellingham at 8 where he belongs and Palmer at 10.
The English, always blaming the current coach or tactic when no coach and no tactic has ever won them the Euros.
England are a good B-tier team like the Nederlands, Denmark or Belgium.
You don't have the quality or pool of players like France, Germany or Spain. This is down to size of population of little England versus larger France and Germany, or and in the case of Spain/Portugal/Italy it's down to climate conducive to affordable all year play and kids picking up the game.
Cheap tactics won't win you anything. A change in logistics is needed. Either field a British team including Welsh, Scot and Irish players to get the French/German numbers, or elect a last century Scandinavian type labour PM that'll invest heavily in public sports programs and big public facilities, 15 years down the line you'll suddenly have a much larger pool of players and talent relative to population. (See also Denmark).
Or you can keep eternally seesawing between tactics and wonder why countries that have a bigger population in total or just a bigger ratio of kids playing the game somehow turn out teams that win tournaments.
Amateurs discuss tactics, professionals discuss logistics.
When it's pretty obvious Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham haven't been firing for various reasons to try and spin it as the rights been just as bad is just weird. Saka has consistently looked the most dangerous player in a crap England team and should be praised Southgate needs to own up to being absolutely dog at the brains part of being a manager and anyone with half a brain about football can see it. The teams he selects, choice of formation, tactics, individual player instructions. It's all just plain horrible and the sooner he and the media realise this the better it will be for this generation long term.
Foden is not a left winger, simple as that
Southgate plays Trent for his passing abilities but then plays a system where the forwards constantly come short to receive the ball 🤯
England Saka is so so so overrated, hes a club merchant.
Post game analysis of important matches like before
4-2-3-1 is wrong formation. they should play 4-3-3
It's not coming home. It's never coming home. Give up today. 💀
The issue is the midfield. We’re letting teams come onto us and pin us back because there’s no one in midfield who is comfortable enough on the half turn receiving it from the backline. (Jude is playing further forward) It’s just constantly getting recycled out wide, then back to Pickford, then kicked long. Having to rely on individual quality from out wide as opposed to building from the back as a team. That’s why Wharton needs to be starting. You NEED that Spanish type midfielder who pieces it all together and is comfortable receiving the ball to feet with their back to goal, instantly on the half turn looking for forward passes. That’s clearly what he’s tried to do with Trent because of his phenomenal passing range but he’s not comfortable receiving it with his back to goal, same with Declan rice and we’ve nearly conceded stupid goals because of it. It’s an absolute waste if Wharton doesn’t start the Slovenia game. It would drastically change the tempo of our game and control we have in possession as other players would bounce off of him. You saw it in his brief cameo vs Bosnia . If you started Wharton in there I promise you we’d be so much better with the ball and no, I’m not a palace fan. I would happily be ridiculed if it went terribly wrong but I honestly believe he is the answer.
Totally agree, it's a risk given he's so inexperienced but he fits the profile perfectly and would liberate Rice to play his more natural role as a high-pressing box to box midfielder, rather than being trapped in front of the back four like he currently is.
Luke Shaw, i think you should suggest this to Southgate
Isn't he injured until the knockout stages?
Did he say "attack against Serbia"? 😂
Just say you have a problem with Trent
Switch Saka and Foden. Have Saka hug the LW, let Foden cut into the right half space where he is most dangerous with Trent overlapping. Play Gomez as a defensive LB and have Stones stepping up with Dec when in possession.
Ypu basically said that southgate has no tactics
"he looks like a drug dealer from Surrey & his manager looks like the baddie from The Curse of the Were-Rabbit"
saved you 60 seconds, you're welcome.
The biggest issue is people outside the pitch 😂
Can they use Trent as an inverted LB like Cancelo used to do at City and swap Anthony Gordon in the LW?
trent stones guehi gomez
rice bellingham
saka foden gordon
kane
Saka and Palmer should be alternating... Foden and Bellingham in the CAM role... Southgate should have brought Madison along... The team is too stiff...
They have a major problem on the dug out .... Looking for a replacement of Kelvin Phillips..... 😶😶😶
It’s not even that hard just tell Jude that he won’t be playing higher up the field next season for Real Madrid
With Mbappe endrick Arda guler
Jude Bellingham is a number 8 ffs 🤦♂️
Just play foden as the 10
Cole palmer on the right
Anthony Gordon on the left
Drop trent
Rice as the 6 Jude as the 8
Kane looks sluggish upfront play Ollie Watkins or Ivan toney
Anyone else notice how weak all European international teams have gotten? What happened to the star players and teams? Teams are relying on aging star players, players who are playing in Saudi Arabia or players who can’t even get into their club teams! For. Instance Netherlands with Depay, Italy Scamacca, Spain Morata and Ayoze, Portugal Ronaldo and Pepe, Germany Gündoğan and Kroos, France Kante and Griezmann these are just a few examples and clearly the standards have dropped drastically! What happened to the real power house teams and players that we remember?
No bs but imagine England with the 3 2 2 3 xavi system with Gordon as a Winger who defends (Raphinha) and TAA as a wing back who is basically a winger (Balde). Solves the missing left back problem as well by making joe gomez a lb who becomes the 3rd cb
Play a 3-4-3 already
Bellingham Kane Foden
Foden Rice Mainoo Tripps
Guehi Stones Walker
What happens when you try to play all your good players rather than a team that fits together and have great chemistry.
Do we think Argentina played all their best players during their WC journey? Nope. Dybala is a Messi clone, is still very good, but plays the exact same positions as Messi. He does the exact same things so instead of trying to fit both, dybala sat on the bench and would come on late in games, or for penalties.
Still useful since he is a great player, and he did score his Pen in the WC final shootout. But he didn’t play. It maintained the confidence of other players and they played really well together. This is also the case for lauturo Martinez. -one of the best strikers for the last 3 years. Even was the reason why they won’t be Copa America in 2021. However he struggled during the first group stage game and second group stage game, so he was dropped for Alvarez. Who turned out to be an amazing player and was in contention for the most goals scored between messi and mbappe.
They say Martinez who is one of the most clinical strikers and even helped them win a Copa America only a season prior. And it worked.
England seem to have amazing talent, but an absolutely useless coach. Maybe they gotta find their own Scaloni. Someone who isn’t afraid to experiment, and even make in game tactical changes.
If you’ve got two games in a row won’t change something for the last game, then England will not win the euros. Guaranteed. They are struggling to make real chances even tho they have Kane who is extremely talented and in form, and Bellingham who is also in form.
Play a left winger that compliments the team, and play a left back who can actually cross with their left foot. Wtf are they doing with Harry Kane who is an aerial threat and someone who can get on to crosses.
It’s actually silly how England haven’t been able to find any success with this much talent.
How in all of England could they not muster up a left footed LB is beyond me. Should have brought Grealish or Rashford to play left wing 🤦♂️ Foden should either be understudy to Saka or left sided mid in a 4-3-3 so he can drift in from the right
Probably not a popular view, but I think Foden should be dropped. Without a left footer overlapping, he's been totally ineffective. Would love to see Gordon and Wharton start v Slovenia. We can't repeat the 00s mistake of forcing our best players onto the pitch if the resultant XI doesn't function properly.
I don’t understand why phil phoden starting on the left over Gordon who was the exceptional winger who can score, dribble and assist. I think Trent Arnold should be benched and jude should play as 8 while phil Poden playing number 10
Tbh, im kinda glad GS is still England's manager. Glad because if a manager like Deschamps or ZZ handles that team, it'll endless trophies and we definitely wouldn't get a break from the english media. Look how quiet their media is right now.
They attacked more from the left he said, bro it’s 37% and 39%… It’s almost the exact same thing😂, they basically attacked from the left one more time😂😂😂
Englamd's Biggest Problem is the state of our political system. I was going to say the Conservative and UnioNisT party, but none of the other big parties are different on policy in any meaningful way.
Was rooting for england after my own country, but after watching their 2 games they can honestly go f themselves. 😅
To make a game look so dull and to show such a lack of motivation with that much talent (I think they're probably the second/third best team at the tournament) should be considered a crime.
The problem isn't any one player or side of the pitch, it's the coach who has some of the best individuals players around playing like they're an underdogs. Zero idea for how to progress the ball and zero ambition to put pressure on the opponent after scoring 1 goal. Southgate was a good transition away form the national psychological trauma of historically underperforming, but his sell by date expired years ago. At this point he is at risk of recreating the trauma he overcame by wasting perhaps the best golden generation England has ever had.
Don’t get why Trent doesn’t drift out to the right. Walker forms a back 2 and Saka drift into the half space.
I suppose then Bellingham drops deeper?
Harry Maguire would solve all of these problems. Without the GOAT, they are cooked. Get healthy soon Harry!
they need to fix the midfield. TAA is good when they play with soft team. Against better team and in a real midfield battle, he will not met his expectation because he is a defender who cannot defend. Controlling the game as a midfielder is very far from that. If Rice and Maddison were in the midfield, Bellingham will have more space...
southgate sucks. idk why they kept him. pep does magic with foden, ancelotti do magic with bellingham. he has the best players in the world, england weakness is clearly tactical.
Same solution as the other one. Bellingham right sided 8 just like at the world cup. Foden to the middle. Gordon on the left. Rice stay as 6.
England FA should sack Southgate at this very moment , he's a well simple minded person , who in the right frame of mind ever had the stupid idea of appointing him as the manager .
He'll be the death of England hopes n he has been multiple times
Shoulda bought Grealish. He is great for fit. They need to play Bellingham deeper (cause he can) and make space for foden and others
The % of attacks doesn’t tell the full story. When they attack left they look lacking in any pace or penetration, so they are just too easy to defend against. On the right at least Saka causes some concern for defenders, and Walker injects even more pace at times.
The biggest problem is a head coach with the tactical IQ of a 4 year old cat. He's got this far by individual moments if brilliance.
I watched the game with my eyes I saw where most of their treating attacks came from and that was the right. The issue they had was a lack of width on the left and foden and bellingham basically both playing as 10s on the same side.
Well, easy solution is to sit Walker, play TAA. Swap Saka with Palmer. And let Jude be Jude
Put bellingham next to rice and foden in the ten, bellingham is class but hes not better then phil in those spaces, hes better at winning the ball back and quick counter attacks, makes more sense for him to be alil deeper allows kane to stay up the field insread of coming for the ball that foden should be getting to pass to kane
Can we also discuss Declan Rice and how he might as well have been wearing a Danish shirt with some of those passes and moments he lost the ball? I would be looking at him for attempted match fixing he was that poor
Trent is a quarterback and we’ve got no runners in behind. Kane is obsessed with dropping deep. Foden is a system player and can’t adapt. So we’ve basically got an isolated Saka and that’s it’s.
What's a quarterback when discussing England?
Play Foden as CAM and Bellingham as RCM. Take TAA out. Bring Palmer in at LWM
England have been involved in the two worst quality games of this tournament so far. Expect a draw vs Slovenia at best
Don't post Foden then. Also, don't post Trent in midfield. Get wingers running in behind. Sorted.
feels like a kid that just started watching football making tactics
Southgate is living off his British passport
Here’s the simple problem… we have 3 right backs playing at the same time, and none of them are doing what they’re good at.
Its actually quite easy to fix, off with Walker take bellingham as a 8 foden 10 and then Gordon on the left and taa as rb
We have the talent that bring skills to the table but unfortunately the head off the table doesn't know how to assembly these skills into a unstoppable force.
They have no balance players should be chosen according to tactics but here all the star players are thrown on the pitch creating problems and bad performances
Kane's inability to press is the real problem...
It's almost as if the manager doesn't know what he is doing and is just throwing players out there and hoping for the best.
i think they should try the box midfield just like city plays adding in cole palmer and playing walker as a rcb
Imagine if they had Ben White. You could easily have Walker play in a back 3.
Honestly I knew what he wanted to say before he said it. England are screwed, their coach is dumb
Why not just switch Trippier and Walker and then play a LW that can go past players or cross with their left well
pickford
walker stones guehi
Trent rice tripier
foden bellingham
saka watkins
Solution: Trent out, Palmer in move Bellingham to box to box midfield
Southgate putting stayback while attacking on everybody
i swear gareth southgate has been controlling us for years making sure we don't realise how bad of a coach he is
Whats your qualifications for your analysis?? Or ard you just an armchair critic?
in short, Southgate has excellent individuals and makes the same mistake as the golden generation
Solution = Play Trent Rb and Fukin palmer on foden possition
Funny thing is… Will Southgate have the balls to change it? NO!!!
Someone send this to southgate
Actually nvm what would be the point he'd still lose
simply get rid of southgate and kane, and england will win tournament.
i got that jumper from TK Max and I count it among my worst jumpers
Nothing works with this England team. Clumsy mess.
343.. Saka and Trent wing backs, Walker RCB
If they start palmer and Gordon on the wings these issues no longer exist
The only problem is that Southgate's still in charge
England will not qualify from the group stages
