Those baskets are called "bushel baskets" for apple or veggies. A bushel holds around 40lbs of picked apples. I worked at an apple orchard for many years. You could possibly use them on the porch to corral those new pillows you are gonna make from the grain sacks. The garage sale had some really nice finds. I really liked all the milk glass pieces. Hope you get out to a few more sales so we can come along with you.
PS your hair looks lovely up!

Kristen - I am a newer follower because of Pine and Prospect collab - but since I found you - I have binge-watched so much of your channel. I just love the quality you have brought to your home through thrifting, which I love! (I too, am on a tight budget and you inspire me so much!) But also your realness - and your humor!! Your ability to laugh at yourself, laugh through rough stuff, and share so much of yourself has made you land as one of my very favorite channels! You have real quality and class to all you do! So excited to see new content when it comes out and so thrilled for you that Cami over at Tidbits also gave you a mention! You deserve it!!

@@christineschmidt4337Those people who don’t price their items and then when you ask for the price, they hem and haw and say, I paid x amount for this so I am going to have to have y. Sometimes they stand there and can’t even come up with a price! You’re having the garage sale! You don’t have a price in mind?!?

Kristen, I just love watching you and your hauls! You are so down to earth about things and we need more influencers such as you! I love garage sells and thrifting too! I live in SE Alabama and my Aunt and I love to go " junking" as we call it! Someone else's trash is always someone else's treasures!

I put a plug in candle under my cheese grater on a shelf . It give my kitchen a cozy feel. I also have 3 lamps in my kitchen. I agree souch with you on using the stuff handed down because it ends up either dry rotting or no one else wants it . I think the feed sacks would be great pillow cases. Great finds

Keep the four sided grater...much more versatile than the one sided. And try bleaching the sacks. The stains might come out. Or you could soak them in cold tea, if you wanted them to take on a vintage/aged look, while covering the stains.

Ok, those flour sack towels.. you can cover the stains w embroidery or patches, decals, etc.
& They have 'candles' w LED lights for your chandelier. So you don't have to worry about wiring it or having wax drip on you.. or burn your gazebo down. 😊
& That measuring stick is indeed called a yard stick. Growing up all teachers had them on the chalk ledge in front of the chalkboard. 😊

The apple baskets are my favorite Kristen, and I would definitely keep the sweatshirt. It looks thick and comfy; you'll wear it a lot in the fall/winter, I'm sure. There is a little string of a rainbow to your left coming in the window! Have a great week!!

  • @deniseborchardt4491

I didn't read the other comments, but keep both graters. I have seen the box crater hung upside down to hold a kitchen towel. That would look darling in your kitchen. I bought the flat one at a craft fair. It is decorated with a sprig of holly, berries and ribbon. I hang it up at Christmas time. So, use them both for decor! I have 2 sets of measuring cups. You could keep one set in the cannisters. Cute glass milk bottle. Such pretty platters-great scores!

  • @patriotmama
    @patriotmama Год назад +2

I have one of those graters like you--the flat one and they are really old. You can't hardly find one anymore. The box grater is very common in the size you have and I also have a bigger one which I love b/c I got that for my wedding shower (55 Yrs. ago). This bigger one grates stuff a lot faster. I would keep the flat one if I were you.
Cut those grain sack pieces in half and make some big outdoor pillows out of them. Spray them with fabric protector to keep rain off if you happen to not be able to get them in the house right away.
The baskets are bushel baskets that years ago, potatoes, apples, and other big fruit would come in. Don't leave them out in the rain. They will deteriorate in a hurry. Great finds!!

Our girls grew up being pulled to the farmer's market in a wooden Radio Flyer wagon, and one Christmas they got mini radio flyer wagons in their stockings. They named the tiny ones "Helpful Wagon", and used them for sooooo much play with their stuffed animals and dolls. When they got older the tiny wagons held their lip balm and perfume! Now I have them tucked away with all the special toys I can't part with❤

I was debating whether to buy a perfect sized white tablecloth with ten matching napkins at a sale because of the stains. A lady standing next to me said to try a hot water soak in OXY Clean and my detergent for an hour and then wash as usual. Most of the things that people were selling were pure junk and way too expensive. A few weeks ago my husband and I went to a garage sale and the prices were insane. Love the grain sacks. I collect vintage tablecloths. I have good luck soaking them in Biz or oxyclean for 8 to 24 hours to remove stains. If you have a clothesline the sunshine also helps to remove stains. I also lay wet linens on grass, there is a reaction with the chlorophyll that helps whiten linens. The chandelier will be beautiful.

Also “white revive” by oxiclean with Dawn Dishwashing liquid. Greased Lightening is also good on items that have already been washed. I had to get red clay out of white baseball uniforms. We (baseball moms and dads) agreed Greased Lightening and Dawn worked best.

Great finds❣️ I am now on the hunt for measuring cups like the ones you found I love those. I think you have a great idea using the grain sacks as pillow covers❣️

@@KristenHoffman I have never learned to sew and it’s one thing that I wished I could do.
