Hi pal, first thanks for subscribing to my little channel I appreciate it . It's always a chore to wire up and bring a heavy vac to a small room... The noise of the drill and vac will make your Mrs. scream.. so this tube collector is more handy...btw do watch my video on guitar cum music stand 🎸
A big shout out to all the DIY enthusiast here. I would love to know your opinion on this product that effectively extracts dust during drilling without the need of a vacuum cleaner, weighs less than 100 grams and firmly attaches to the drilling machine during drilling so you don't have to hold anything else during the already laborious task of drilling. sid07designs.com/drill-duster/ (The videos are made with the first preliminary prototype)
To "Sid07design" , your spring design is truly unique. I have never come across it before. However, there is a great problem of knowing the right tension for the spring. If the tension is loose, the dust receptical will fall off, and the contact with the job is not firm result in dust escape. If the tension is too high, it causes resistance to the drilling thrust force. Some RC concrete are notoriously hard to penetrate even for SDS drills, so the spring will reduce the drilling efficiency. I am still struggling after many years to figure out the most perfect solution which remains elusive. P.s. Do see all my other videos at humbleideas.com
@@HumbleIdeas The spring rate has been successfully optimized and physically tested for standard drill bits ranging from 4mm to 10mm diameters. The spring allows for applications using hammer drill too since it acts as a flexible coupling. For application involving larger drill bits and diameters, additional springs shall be provided to simply attach to the Drill Duster.
@@SID07Designs Noted. The idea you have seems very promising and saleable. It is a refreshing change from.thr commercially available vacuum based recepticles which sticks to the wall as a battery draws vacuums. I never liked those things as I have phobia the battery will die and the receptical will drop straight down spilling all the dust. Your spring design is truly interesting, is it your intention that it may be made from scrap material for common folk , if so your video should explain how to choose the right spring,? Because the success of the device is very sensitive to the quality and the gauge of the spring, it's not so easy.. perhaps that is where you earn your patent rights. Regards, humbleideas.com
@@rexhds9929 Thanks for the appreciation Rex. The user need not worry about choosing the right spring as we shall provide springs for non standard bits as well. The one off spring that will be a part of the Drill Duster package is compatible for standard drill bits that are generally used for regular DIY projects domestically.(ranging from 4 to 10 mm diameters)

Hi pal. Philosophically , the making of a lasting good tool require some effort... The dust collector here is definitely more complicated than those usual suggestions on RUclips, however it is very efficient, I use it frequently. If you have a factory, everything can be moulded in one plastic piece (no need the metallic support then) and can sell very cheaply I believe. Perhaps I should patent it....
Just tape an envelope to the wall and use both hands - simples
Parafinn Lamp, Hi, the envelope method is extremely inefficient. Because the high speed drill creates a wind draft which scatters the dust. The envelope collects only 70% of the dust I estimate. Therefore it is necessary to completely enclose the drill area using some method like mine. Do not use my method on non SDS drills. Normal hammer drills do not have the pneumatic function of SDS drill, and is very difficult to penetrate bricks, and require 2 hands for safety.
using a catch bag taped on the wall is best
The bag method has a problem coz it's hard to open fully the mouth of the bag, and the dust, 50% will miss the opening of the bag due to the wind created by fast moving drill. I would prefer sweeping off the dirt.
The problem is that the dirt is spread over a rather wide area because the drill create a tailwind. So it is better to enclose the surrounding area, otherwise it is difficult to sweep. Also the dust is very fine and tiny and it is quite difficult to sweep.

Over complicated and makes you have to drill one handed! Think I will stick to my folder and taped piece of paper! Works just as well!
Hi, I agree that it needs some care for one handed drilling. Therefore the power of the SDS drill and weight, should not be too high. It is important to note too, Non SDS drills CANNOT drill concrete, despite numerous fake advertisings. Even a 800W hammer drill non-SDS will encounter lots of resists, so much that it is not safe to do single hand drilling. Always use SDS DRILL. They are partly pneumatic driven, a 500w SDS drill is lighter, and much more powerful than any 800w non SDS hammer drill!!!!. Cost of SDS drill, has fallen considerably, it is a must have tool for every home diy guy worth his salt. Btw, if you use paper method, you can catch maybe 60% of dust only. The scatter from the cloud can only be trapped using method like in the video.

Quite true, however, the first step is the starter "hole" , once that is established accurately，as long as the drill is kept at right angles to the wall, the rest of the hole will be accurate. A transparent strong tube would work better, but I can only find white PVC pipes in my junk box. Hahaha
