- The Icaro flight school owner is speaking out after the pilot involved in a fatal plane crash at North Perry Airport was identified.
Condolences to their families. Rest in peace.
three passengers, C172, and high pitch on takeoff.... Yeah, sounds like a stall and a out of CG situation.
Wreckage shows the elevator trim tab is full up. That would be all it takes to cause this accident.
"The elevator trim was found in the nearly full up (nose down) position." How does that explain the high angle of attack on takeoff? Looks like the pilot was trying to get the nose down.
Too bad the reporter can't speak English...
That's what happens with CHEAP
dated AIRCRAFT that nobody wants to
PROPERTY maintenance
Rest in peace.
The aircraft pitching up after take-off means the passenger in the back was too heavy.
Sorry, this crash was 100% the pilot's fault due to not doing weight and balance calculations.
Not true I took off multiple times in c172 with 3 adults
As a former full-time CFI, I have too taken off tons of times with a student in the back , to observe...but the rear pax was well under 200 pounds, and the aircraft was within CG limits.
With full fuel, a C172 can only take about 500 pounds of people and cargo.
Of note, the small cargo area can only about 100 pounds before the aircraft will have a CG too far aft.
Was something too heavy stored there?
I've had to leave a passenger / only fly w me and 1 person, due to just 1 heavy toolbox in baggage hold a few times when ferrying a mechanic to the Bahamas for this reason.
Well my friend, we'll see what the NTSB concludes.
Had more than 1 would be renter fail his check out due to very, very flawed weight and balance by the way.
Sadly, this has happened even at a regional airline years ago...load master loaded a regional jet incorrectly, leading to a CG too far aft.
RIP.

Where did they say there were passengers in the back?
3 pax, in 4 seat aircraft.
So, at least one pax in backseat.
Rest In Peace.
So sad, and I really suspect after the NTSB report, unnecessary due to 100% pilot error.
