  • North Perry is a medium sized general aviation airport located in Hollywood, Florida. It is located six miles southwest of Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood International (FLL) and six miles northeast of Miami -Opa Locka Executive (OPF) airports. It has non-standard Class Delta airspace as a result and underlies the Miami Class Bravo. It also is adjacent to the inner core of the Ft Lauderdale Class Charlie.
1:09 - The runway configuration consists of two sets of parallel runways with slightly staggered thresholds labeled 10-28 left and right and 1-19 left and right. As with any airport with similar configuration, the risk of wrong surface landings and departures does exist.
2:00 - There are two areas of concern for pilots arriving HWO for the first time. From the southeast pilots will encounter a large antenna farm clearly depicted on the VFR Sectional chart.
2:15 - When arriving from the west, extra vigilance for training flights operating below the Miami Class Bravo and west of the HWO Class Delta should be maintained.
3:10 - All of the Hot Spots at HWO concern the same thing, aircraft entering a runway without appropriate clearance.
3:19 - Hot Spot #1 is located at the intersection of taxiways Delta and Papa. Aircraft taxiing south on Delta with instructions to turn left or right on Papa, have missed their turn and crossed runway 10L-28R.
3:42 - Hot Spot #2 is located at the intersection of taxiway Lima and runway 1L.
4:00 - Hot Spot #3 is located at the intersection of taxiway Lima and runway 1R. Even after reading back hold short instructions, pilots have taxied across the approach end of runway 1R.
The FAA's From the Flight Deck video series uses aircraft-mounted cameras to capture runway and taxiway footage and combines them with diagrams and visual graphics to clearly identify hot spots and other safety-sensitive items. Learn more at www.faa.gov/FromTheFlightDeck.
This video is informational only and does not replace the pilot’s responsibility to conduct required pre-flight planning in accordance with FAR 91.103.

Not to mention the several flight schools and heavy volume of Banner towing traffic. Many students tend to overshoot final. I’m very surprised there was no mention of the Sheridan/shoreline Departure procedure?

This doesn’t even scratch the surface of local features and rules

Yes, but these videos appear to be targeting prevention of runway incursions which is a high priority. And considering what almost happened recently at JFK, this emphasis is really needed.
