This sounds much like a "Sturm and Drang" style concerto. I hear many resemblances to C P E Bach. Very dramatic and well written. I wish we could hear more from this composer.
The picture: "Atelier scene", with a self-portrait of the painter and her palette sitting at the little table (1808) by Marie-Gabrielle Capet (1761, Lyon - 1818, Paris). Oil on canvas; h 69.0 x w 83.5 cm; Neue Pinakothek, Munich, Germany.
Thank you for this newly discovered composer, very enjoyable oboe and orchestra. Im examining Hertel's works now. So pleasant. Mr. Dilfeng, your contributions are simply amazing, so much enjoyment to so many. I cannot express.
I have a recording of this same concerto played by Burkhard Glaetzer and the New Bach Collegium Musicum. The style and intrepretation of the music here is completely different from that of the album I have. The New Bach Collegium Musicum plays this concerto like it is typical Baroque. Main-Barockorchester Frankfurt plays it here like it is early classical and very similar in style to C P E Bach. It is amazing what a difference interpretation of music makes! I think the interpretation of the Main-Barockorchester Frankfurt is the right one.

A few months ago I was comparing different players on the Scarlatti sonatas. Who did I like best ? Emil Gilels. But other players made me think. So delicate and sweet in some cases... It was like the same notes but completely different music!

Exceptionally well written. I am a fan of JW Hertel. Great performance too.

What a fine concerto, at times sounding like CPE Bach. And a very good performance too, lots of drive and drama.
Beautiful ! Thanks for sharing :)

Interesting observation. - But, what is the point of publishing the same text twice?
Very nice. Thanks for posting. Is this from a commercially available recording?
