I have the illumibowl and I actually really like it. I'm legally blind(20/900 vision) and have astigmatism as well as exophoria so seeing in the dark at night is incredibly difficult and can sometimes get a little scary ( trip hazards and a black dog) I like having the light for my jack and jill bathroom because it gives off enough light that I don't have to use an overhead light(and wake up my husband) and I can get back to bed without running into anything.

James, I own 2 GloBowl lights that I purchased online. For all intents and purposes, it is completely interchangeable with either of your tested products. After living with one for about a year, I don't think I could be without one. As far as it being in the bowl, it stays surprisingly clean. I usually remove it when swabbing out the bowl, and wipe it down with a Clorox or Lysol disinfectant wipe.
I just wanted to mention that once you install the Bowl Brite on your toilet lid, you will have to slide the cover in the direction it indicates to change the batteries!
2 tricks i did with mines 1. Wrap the thing in cling Wrap to keep bodily fluid away from it and making it easy to clean. 2. If putting it directly on the bowl doesn’t work for you then puttng on top of the toilet bowl is better because it will never get dirty.

the alternative is looking with a sunlight imitation or other bright white light. In which case just about any color light is a better. Think about it.
I think it's in the correct orientation... because once it's attached to the lid, you can only slide the larger part. Is it uncomfortable on your back when you sit?
One thing I think you didn't cover about Bowl Brite: I'm guessing it cannot detect motion and turn on when the top lid is closed. If that's the case, it's not very helpful finding the toilet in the dark. (Or does it "see" through the cracks when the lid is closed?) Also, doesn't it light up the room too much, shining down on the toilet seat like that? In the end, I see this product more as a fun novelty, and you give up aesthetics to use it. That is, it's a bit unsightly and distracting, both inside and outside the bowl. A simple, mundane (or clever) nightlight strategically put will be the better choice for me.
I have 2 young sons and for whatever reason they don't turn on the light when they get up to go in the middle of the night. these would be a great solution to my problem
The arrow is printed on the piece that your meant to slide. Just hold the back and slide the front piece to the arrow...........technically they were correct.

Not really. Placement in the bowl means light is minimized, and yet still provides light in an even circle around the toilet. Dim, yet evenly dispersed.

Regular lights really are blindingly bright, and much more likely to disturb those in nearby rooms, and it can be a problem for guests turning on the switch (especially nephews, grandchildren and other youngsters) This is a legitimate problem solved (I'm guessing by a bunch of smart Chinese marketers)
They must be offering these at special two units pricing, because I'm finding these (usually in unopened packages) have been donated to thrift stores. I bought an illumibowl for a dollar and gave it as a gag gift for a friend. I cannot imagine actually using something like these. Even the one that mounts on the upper lid is going to be a sanitation problem. Mist from flushing is going to touch it. So, no-thanks, I'll continue to rely on my nightlight.

I know this is old. I dealt with illumibowl before they were in stores. I went through 4 of these. Three company rep was very easy to deal with. Very cooperative. The problem is their suction cups. Within a few weeks they'll start to pop off the toilet. The rubber used won't retain is shape. They flatten out and no longer stick. I really wanted to like it. I liked being able to lock in on one color of you want but the suction cup issue makes it unusable. Unfortunately.

The part you slid in the begining is attached to the lid and therefore it is not a moving part. The directions tell you which way to slide the moving part.

the unlock slider arrow is pointing the correct way because the rear of it is fixed to the toilet lid and the front slides that way to unlock.
