    Additional pros of a campground:
    - Fresh water is readily available so you don't have to worry about how much you are using.
    - On-site trash bins so you don't have to pack it out.
    - Bathrooms so you don't have to dig a hole.
    - Option to reserve ahead so concerns about whether you'll be able to find a campsite that isn't already taken.
    - Firewood available on-site.
    - The campground may be more convenient to the destination. For example, if you are visiting a national park.
I mostly use campgrounds for the reasons above and because it allows me to more confidently put together my trip plans knowing where I'll be each night. It can be a negative however. Last summer, the road we were taking to our campground was blocked, and it was a 3 hour drive to circle around. We didn't get to our campsite until 11p.

All great points! I definitely can agree with those thoughts. Bummer about the blocked road, that never crossed my mind.

Great topic, well done. Like you said some places its an awesome option or the only option. Great for base camping and learning new areas, finding and pinning the good dispersed sites n trails for next time. Testing new gear for a night or 2. Just chillin. Getting family n dogs out. Break after few nights of dispersed. Its all good. I've learned so much from RV ers, backpackers, Car campers, day hikers, mountain bikers, van lifers, enduro bikers, Prius drivers, camp Mom's, Boy scouts etc etc. Done a few of those over the years too. We can all get along. No need for stereo types or pigeon holes. Overlander, Off road car camper, lazy backpacker., vehicle based adventurer, mall crawler, etc Just labels. ha ha . I do love having a bathroom nearby sometimes. In black bear country I prefer campgrounds, even still sleep in truck sometimes with window mesh ...cuz...at night...sleeping...bears... LOL

Love the "lazy backpacker" title 😂 and the point you make about bears is sooooo true.

Great video, very educational! I definitely have grown to use them interchangeable. As much as I prefer dispersed camping sometimes the areas you travel don’t have dispersed sites but have national forest/state park campgrounds that feel “dispersed” and are usually not that expensive.

Yes absolutely! When you find a campground that feels dispersed its a win-win for sure!

We prefer a little bit of both on trips. Mainly stopping at established campgrounds to get a refresh.

Thats what we found during our travels too. Campgrounds act like a good middle ground between dispersed camping or hotels lol you're still camping but might be able to use a real lavatory and shower

Dogs and toddlers as well as alcohol, assholes and potheads make campgrounds SUCK. But more than any of that, people are what makes campgrounds suck.

There are some places like in Kentucky that you almost have to campground camp because alot times rhe dispersed camping spots are already taken
