Congratulations on the little one! One question for cool season lawn what month would you suggest to start killing things off? I'm working with around 1000sqft and will not be trying to level. Our weather is so funny here in Va. that if I wait too long never know if we will have a early winter or sumer until December 😂. I was thinking maybe second or third week of July because of the steps to take. Do you think around the time I mention is to early or should I wait just alittle longer. I'm following your steps from one of your overseeding videos. BTW your dad's lawn looks very nice! Thank you for any feedback!

The earliest I would start is the 1st weekend in August. That gives you time for 2 applications of non-selective herbicide 2 weeks apart and be ready to seed by labor day. Or a 3rd application if necessary. The challenge is its still going to be pretty hot in VA at that time so water/irrigation is a must! I would probably wait to start mid August and seeding mid September.
