Thanks for taking the time to watch & comment my friends... it's very much appreciated! -John P.S. Give the thumbs up button on the video a click for ol' Kado... it makes him smile ;)
2 quick things: 1) the lower you mount the bolt, the more cord you can fit; 2) for faster winding, clamp the threaded end of the bolt in your drill chuck and give it a spin. Winds cordage stupid fast. Great video tip, keep up the good work!!
That works but I've been using a system that's less expensive, lighter weight, easier, more efficient and packs to a proportionally smaller package. Just grab a ziplock bag, cram paracord in there without tangling it (it just needs to flow freely), but leave a little tail hanging out. Finally zip it up till only the tail of paracord is hanging out. Done. Now when you need paracord, just pull the tail to the desired length, cut, then burn the end to prevent fraying. Use different size bags for different amounts of paracord. Try it.
Just heard about you and am really impressed with your ideas - have learned many useful tips from you so far - want to say thank you and be careful out there
Dang That was a good'n John & Kado; Guess I now have a New use 4 them Tic-Tac rigs. Thanks 4 this tip Friends..........................................ATB " T ".................God Bless
+Odood19 That's some pretty clever thinking right there my friend. You could definitely add a few items in the container along with the paracord, and have yourself a nice little all-around survival kit. Thanks for passing along that add-on tip :) All the best.... -John
Here's my twist: What about ditching the bolt and just cramming it in there like it's a stuft sack? Since it's not wound, it should dispense w/o tangling if you have packed it correctly; plus you would utilize the entire space of the package that way. Lighter and more packable without the wingnut on the side. Simply dispense as needed.
Great tip, One thing I thought of that might help is cut the head of bolt off with hack saw and put another wing nut on one side and super glue it. That would give extra leverage when winding cordage up, especially if fingers are cold or wearing gloves.
yet another brilliantly simple yet effective and best of all free gadget tip, thanks for sharing them John, and good to see you getting back on here more regularly, you were missed when you were absent my friend, cheers, Dave
they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but Kado is proof that's a myth. notice how he sits and looks at john then right on cue John picks up the stick and throws it, Kado is a good teacher.
Right on man! I forgot I even made this particular vid, lol. I figured you'd go with something fire related though, haha 🔥 Either way... have fun with it buddy 👍 Thanks for the kind words by the way bro!
Hey @IntenseAngler, how did you wind up the cord so it doesn't start bursting out the edges of the Tic-Tac container? I'm having some trouble winding the cord without it getting stuck in there and unable to pull out.
Nice! I'm sometimes too lazy to store cordage properly and this will make that chore easier. Btw I had never seen the big Tic Tac boxes before but it looks like I can get them on Amazon.
Pretty cool! Once I saw the tic tac type I told my wife to make sure she doesn't throw it away!! Very ingenuitive indeed. Love these kind of videos, especially being on a budget. Thank you!
Hmm.. that's odd :/ I wonder if they're just here in the U.S. Either way, thank you very much for taking the time to watch and comment... I really appreciate it my friend.

Just heard about you and am really impressed with your ideas - have learned many useful tips from you so far - want to say thank you and be careful out there

Neat project John. OTOH learning the figure eight method is simple, easy, and one can carry more cord in a smaller package, much, much more...
Great idea! Thanks!
Would a bic mini and a box cutter blade fit in the bottom area (or cap)? If not, some fish hooks would fit in the bottom.

Exactly what I thought... I guess if you wind the cord up tightly you could get in more. We should test it out I guess.
+Atimatik Army I thought the same thing. Plus, rewinding onto the bolt after use may be a pain. Stuffing may be the way to go here.
+shouldibehere But it has a screw head on the bolt so with a drill it will go on very fast when you need to refill after an adventure.
Cool idea John. A thumbscrew bolt would make winding or re-winding easy but the unit may not be as packable.
;-) crasy dog ? Non ! Lovely ! ;-) Thanks for vidéo (nice for me who don't understand english...)
nice tip and Kado is looking great..have a super week my friend.. TW

Nice DIY john thanks for the share!
That was awesome...=) Thanks man for sharing..! And take care...
Thanks for the posting. I'll make several of the paracord dispensers this weekend
Nifty. I expect you'll see a variety of tinkering with the bolt set-up as folks try this out.
Thank you very much, its very useful invent for bushcraft & survival, its a great idea, I will put it into practice
Had one of these containers the other day and thought, I should be able to use this for something. Leave it up to John to figure it out. Thanks!
Where do you come up with these great ideas? Really nice video.
I didn't know Tic Tacs came in such a large size......hmmm.
Nice video though I've never seen Tic Tac that big a size. Love your dog!
Great idea. Great video as always............
+Grant Jones Thanks Grant... much appreciated my friend.
Another great , simple idea. Thanks, and scratch behind Kado's ears for me.
Perfecr will add more space in my bag, thank you. God bless.
John, perhaps the addition of a 1/4 " flat washer may help retain the wingnut. Cheers, Mate.
That's a great idea, pity I cannot get the tic tac container here in the UK, but would work with something similar I am sure
awesome. I'm going to use this to carry around paracord to pull up a gun or bow for my tree stands
thats so awesome, i'm definitely gonna try it. Thanks for sharing it with us :-)
they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but Kado is proof that's a myth. notice how he sits and looks at john then right on cue John picks up the stick and throws it, Kado is a good teacher.
This looks like something that would go great attached to your pack via a carabiner. What a great idea!
so awesome I have tons of 20-30 foot sections In multiple colors all tangled up.
Nice John...really good to see your channel up and at it again
I never thought a paracord vid could make me tear up. Kado reminds me of a border collie mix that I used to have.
This is awesome, gonna make one soon!
Looking into one of your videos to redo as u suggested.... I'll have to keep my eye out for a large Tic tac container as such!... This is incredible!
Right on man! I forgot I even made this particular vid, lol. I figured you'd go with something fire related though, haha 🔥
Either way... have fun with it buddy 👍
Thanks for the kind words by the way bro!
squirrel... @ 13 seconds. he he
thanks for the video
Great video as always John, keep it up ;)
Good to see Kato again.
You could also duct tape a razor or other small cutting tool on the side. Good for a bug out bag. You have the tape already too
Makes me wonder what other containers would work with this idea...
Very cool, thanks for sharing. :)
thanks i think ill stick with the para-doughnut
Nice tip. Thanks for sharing.
This is a great idea! Thank you for sharing it.
What a great idea. I will certainly make on of these!
Use a drawer knob instead of a wing nut.
nice diy project, thinking out of the box,or in this case in the box ;-)

You can pt the razor at the end of the cap to cut it
hope you do more videos I miss watching them
Very cool, really love the DIY projects.
That is just so awesome, John!
Hey @IntenseAngler, how did you wind up the cord so it doesn't start bursting out the edges of the Tic-Tac container? I'm having some trouble winding the cord without it getting stuck in there and unable to pull out.
Also, I made a mod to your design. I drilled a small hole in top and put in an eye hook so it can hang from a carabiner.
Nice! I'm sometimes too lazy to store cordage properly and this will make that chore easier.
Btw I had never seen the big Tic Tac boxes before but it looks like I can get them on Amazon.
Or just buy one at a gas station........
Excellent. Nice neat little storage pack.
That is great idea! Thanks for posting this.
kido looks like he saw a squirrel at 0:13 with his eyes like that.
Great idea. Thanks to you both.
Use "cordless" drill to wind it up on the screw
