- We are so excited to share with you guys step-by-step how we transformed our balcony into an amazing, beautiful and functional space that we can use! We (mostly Chris haha) DIYed pretty much everything, so we were able to make our space beautiful on a budget. We hope that this inspires you! Enjoy!

That's awesome. We are planning on building something similar and our balcony space is pretty much the same size. What type of material was the bench cushion ? I'm worry about the constant rain during the summer.

Hi I really love this balcony did a wonderful job I want to do it myself I'm sure the wall I could do easily the bench I'm not sure lol any tips advice on what materials I need and measurements?
love this just moved to an apartment with a balcony for the 1st time! will adopt your amazing transformation.. will follow your channel thank you both. good luck. do have a question what is the height on your bench am thinking of making one little alteration by placing hinges so the dead space under neath the seats can be used as storage
Hey Michelle thank you so much. The height is 45 cm (18 inch). We sat on a few benches at a store to figure out our perfect height.
Also such a great idea with the storage, we talked about that but then we came to the conclusion that we don't really have anything to store out there :)
Love this transformation. What brand and color of stain did you use for the wood wall and did you buy cedar for the planks? Are they 1x3?

Lovely job you two. Those herbs though. Not going to do well at all in those pots with no drainage. They’re pretty stuffed in there too! One more thing, because they’re hung so high they are not going to get proper lighting to thrive and you will notice (if they live long enough without drainage) that they’re going to stretch and reach for sun light. My recommendation is to put some shade loving annuals in pots with drainage and take them out of these to water and once drained put back inside the hanging pots until next watering. Get a nice large pottery container and plant all your herbs together in that one container (again, you need to make sure there is drainage in the pot) and you’ll have a cute kitchen herb garden in one big pot. Or even a couple of larger pots. This is just my recommendation from experience. Herbs aren’t the easiest to grow in small pots. That’s how they start them in the greenhouse. They should go into containers or the ground. Good luck with your new home. You can change the annuals up on the wall by season. You get a new look every quarter. 💚
Thank you for your comment! We are still learning as we go, so we appreciate the advice! The herbs ended up doing really well and lasted throughout the summer. Those pots have an elevated bottom, which allows drainage.

Thank you so much. Yes sometimes the cushions get a tiny bit wet but the good thing is they are weather proof :)

We just used normal outdoor paint. It is silicon based because the water based one isn't good for outdoor with rain etc.
