I can definitely see the inspiration from TOG (i.e. girl with mysterious background living in a castle, a guard and a prince/king who she flirts with, solving mysteries to why she's there, etc) though I wouldn't say Trial of the Sun Queen hit the emotional impact that TOG did quite as well, unfortunately
Honestly, to me it was more like Hunger games meets bachelor meets Throne of glass. (Throne of glass is where she got the plot of the whole book)
