Ok so we are back with our back to the future breakdowns. As always I'm your host Paul and welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show.
theres that word heavy again
So like...the spoilers are heavy...but like...they don't...weigh anything...look you don't care. What you do care about is out trek through this time travelling classic. In it we're gonna be breaking down the easter eggs, making of trivia and everything you need to know about the film and it's legacy.
If you missed our first one then that's on screen right now and in it we touched up the success that it was. Spending 3 months at the top of the box office a sequel was put into production faster than 88 mph with both Fox and Lloyd signing on instantly.
According to IMDB trivia, Fox saw the to be continued which was added to the VHS of the first one and immediately rang his agent to make sure he was included. That has now since been removed but it teased at the studios confidence in the franchise. You have to remember, this was a time before studios announced 800 movies in a shared universe before theyd even made the first one and thus this was a big thing for fans of the film.
Meeting back up with Screenwriter Bob Gale, Robert Zemeckis hit the ground running but instantly they were filled with regret.

Thanks for this breakdown bro. I’d really like if u would do Blade 1&2. 👍🏻
Doc did not use the Postal Service to send that letter to Marty from 1885. The guy clearly says right in the movie that he's from Western Union, which is not the Postal Service. That's just one of a handful of things you got wrong but overall, pretty good video.
Did we spot ‘The World Is Yours’ water feature as taken from the film Scarface? 👀
@@jasonrogers1576 Thats a cultural miss though. OUtside the US their reupation is mostly in their modern financial service products. If you don't know the repuation that makes them a staple of US time travel films, i'm not surprised our narrarator instead focused on this great post office/weather forshadowing, which does still land, as Doc brown after complaining of the unreliability of the US Post, chooses a more reliable option.
I have a simpler solution to why BTTF 2024 is different from our 2024. BTTF Earth is in a parallel universe. Doc explains it in BTTF2. Remember the chalkboard.?
Doc Brown didn't use US Postal Service to deliver the letter to Marty in 1955,he used Western Union.
Facts
This is such an obvious fact .-. What’s going on over there? LmFAO
He's Australian 🤷♂
That’s what I came here to say.
Good point, was also a great scene if I remember correctly. Can you imagine something like that happening in real life and it all plays out as some hundred something year old telegraph says it will??? Lol
The insane amount of detail they put into BTTF2 still blows my mind. Production put so much care and thought into all the little things in the background, the headlines, the shops, etc. And this was back when people were not analyzing movies frame-by-frame on the internet, so they never really expected a lot of people to notice this stuff. In other words, they didn't have to go this hard, but they did it for us. And I, for one, am grateful.
This was the age of the cinema where $$$ mattered, but weren't the only thing that mattered. Back then movies were made with passion and care, not soulles like today, for the most part.
people have been analyzing movies since movies began mate... also people who attempt to analyze art are fucking dickheads... its equivalent to dancing to architecture.
What if Marvel hired the BTTF story writers to make sure everything ties together?...it would make sense to how detailed Marvel has been tying movies and stories together.
This movie was ahead of its time for it going back in time to the future
🤔🤪....where people TODAY have been noticing those little details🧐....😁💯
This is what makes this movie so great !
The two wristwatches wasn't just cuz he's obsessed with time. He often has something from the timeline he's going to or came from, to make sure he's on track even in another time.
If he sees one watch disappear he knows he messed up or is falling behind, it's like a miner's canary and you don't let your canary die.
Or, if you are named Sting.
You Sing an underrated, awesome song about it!
I always wondered about the canary. There was an episode on The Simpsons where Homer and most of the town of Springfield were digging deep to rescue Bart from the well. Apu discovered a dead canary, and all the men evacuated. After Dr. Hibbert confirmed that the canary died of natural causes, everyone went back to the hole!
@@melissacooper8724 That was an old miners trick. The canary was brought along because it was more sensitive to toxic gasses than the miners were..it it died, the miners knew to be very careful or evacuate.
YET AGAIN another example of the Masses being held prisoner by a CREATED LIMITATION invisible jail cell 'TIME DOES NOT EXIST, CLOCKS EXIST'. ANOTHER BIG LIE WHICH has been 'CREATED' to keep people IGNORANT is that 'GRAVITY'S STRENGTH is directly based on THE SIZE AND MASS of an OBJECT, For Example According to Newton, Mathematically, 'THEY' have limited our ability to think cognitively AGAIN! The force of gravity depends directly upon the masses of the objects and inversely upon the distance between the objects squared. [ F = G M1 M2 / D2 ] The G in the relationship is a constant that is called the universal gravitational constant, "CONSTANT?" If you have vaguely paid any attention to the universe, You know it's anything but Constant. For the Third invisible Cage 'THEY' CLAIMED that they literally SENT A ROCKET (Apollo 11) Astronauts up to the moon in 1969 and they walked on the surface, ON LIVE TV PROGRAMMING, THE Astronauts called President NIXON from the LUNAR SURFACE TO THE OVAL OFFICE, that’s one hell of a cellphone! Also when the 'Lunar Lander" Lifted off the moons surface, to return to the mothership, WHO stayed back to film it leaving the surface? COME ON MAN WTF! Anyone that believes this B.S. I suggest you do some of your own experiments.
Back to the Future Part II (1989) is my favorite movie of all-time followed by the OG. I’ve seen BTTF 1 and 2 over a 100x. “Well, since when did you become the physical type?”
Mine too!!!!
it's a trilogy, so um... why wouldn't have seen Pt 3 so much too?
Definitely hundreds of times for me. I was 17 in 1985, just like Marty, and have had part 1 on home video since at least some time 1986 or 1987, and got pts 2 and 3 as soon as they got available. The only question is whether I've already seen part 1 over 1,000 times. But since I've never really counted i will never know. To this day it would mean about 27 times a year on average. Seems quite possible. But... I'll never know.... 😄
“The answer’s no, Griff.”
Same! While Back to the future 1 is objectively the better movie, I find myself going back to the second one much more often. I was never really into the third one as much. I don't know why, the movie concludes the trilogy perfectly, but I enjoy it less than the other two 🤷♂️
There's a pretty good reason why Marty has the reaction to being called chicken that he only seemed to get in Part 2-3.
Much like his hand vanishing in the first movie, everything he did in the past affected him and his life, unconsciously, so while he has no memory of the new life where he's well off and has his truck, it'll trickle in the more that timeline is cemented.
With this in mind, we know George is now confident and likely taught his Marty to stand up to bullies and never be a coward, so while Marty doesn't know this, subconsciously he has this new trait of not liking to be called chicken, and has had no time to understand or get over it, which is what he does while in 1885, cementing his new timeline and path forward
Love that!
I've never thought of that! I love it when random people in the internet say something that changes a way you think about something you love
I love you
he was always ''cock fighting''. ..aka Oedipus Rex
That's a pretty awesome statement to understand.
I’m watching Back 2 The Future today with my 12 year old. He’s never seen it and he’s into 80s classics like Goonies, Gremlins, etc.. I’ve literally been saying McFly for 25 years! Classic film❤
And, now, your son knows why he's named 'Calvin'. 😂
I just watched Back 3 the future
The Mr Fusion reactor was a Krups coffee grinder. Also the character "Terry" was played by Charles Fleisher, who was also the voice of Roger Rabbit.
I didn't realize that. Always thought Mr Fusion was a food processor/blender.
He was also in Zodiac as Robert Vaughn
No no no... that's not why Biff put the dusst jacket on the girlie mag. He did it to conceal and hide the fact that he was looking at a girlie mag out in public. He didn't even realize the importance of the almanac at that point in the movie
Fantastic! He doesn't realize the importance until later in the tunnel
omg you are so right about Needles. Even further to your point the lighting in Needles room is identical to the lighting in Mr. Fujitsu's room & if you side by side the shot of Needles & Mr. Fujitsu you can see it's the same room. I just never noticed.
Can i get a timestamp?
Okay. So maybe Needles was being coerced into entrapping Marty. But he didn’t need to call Marty “chicken.” He was well aware that that was Marty’s weakness.
Needles went above and beyond the call of duty, there.
oh I have no doubt Needles jumped at the chance to get one over on Marty and enjoyed every minute of it.@@robbob5302
@@robbob5302 I don't think he was coerced. Just look at that smile after Marty fell for it. It was planned and executed in conjunction to trap him, but I never noticed before that he looked at someone outside the camera's field.
@@mexcore14
I think the smile reinforces my coerced theory. Needles got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. And we see him saving his own butt, by throwing Marty under the bus.
That smile just says “Marty is a sucker” to me.
The boss is letting the little fish go (Needles) to land the big fish. (Marty.)
18:46 The business is named "UniGlobe." And at 18:30 the street has large letters that say "NO LANDING" instead of "NO PARKING."
I came here to say the same thing
Ya with a backwards b, but as soon as I saw at the sign I saw that as well.
@@Yugubugu The B isn’t backwards. It’s a capital B that just has a portion of it missing like the capital E right beside it.
Back in the 80’s this kind of writing was considered ‘futuristic’ and used just about everywhere to denote it.
I’m so glad I got to visit Universal Studios CA back in the 90s and ride the lot tour. It was a big deal to see the town, the clock tower and even the janky Jaws shark in person. Thanks for another legendary breakdown Heavy Spoilers crew!
I was at Universal Studios in Florida in the 90's when I was a kid. I remember riding in the DeLorean.
We might have all honestly gone there at the exact same time because I went on vacation with my family to Orlando as a kid back then, maybe 92-93, and 100% remember all that, as well as this Star Wars ride that was basically just a giant tin can rolling around with people inside of it, and meeting the Ninja Turtles haha 😂
Those were actually Jaws NES games in the window of the shop where Marty buys the almanac, not VHS tapes, Jaws 1 definatly was, I'm not 100% sure on Jaws 2 though. Really enjoyed the vid, the BttF trilogy are some of my favorite movies.
Yup… note the LJN rainbow… thanks avgn;)
Agreed, was gonna say this myself. Good catch!
Biggest clue is that cursed LJN logo... if there was ever a logo that meant 'lack of quality' it's LJN.
@robertmuntz7763
Definitely.
@@GamiCross yup. the nintendo seal of quality and the ljn logo cancelled eachother out.
Very good break down, the attention to detail is crazy. I own all 3 and never could understand why old Biff was in pain after stealing the DeLorean. Nice work.
I couldn't figure that out either.
He broke his cane while getting out of the DeLorean, the top, which is a fist, is found by Doc Brown later in the movie.
Bob Gale in commentary in the deleted scene in BTF2 . He explained that old Biff disappeared from existence in 2015, due to Lorraine shot his middle age counterpart dead.
I just thought he was suffering a heart attack due to being old and the excitement of time traveling was too much for his heart.
@@Karlach_ Wow that was my first theory however the video's breakdown of why is more realistic.
Remember part one where Marty started to lose his hand while playing the guitar at the end? It was because his mother and father did not kiss yet (the bully prevented that on the dance floor for a brief moment) hence he wouldn't have never been born.
Old Biff changed events that were in the past by giving himself the almanac hence changing his life as events proceeded.
Although the question I have is why can't the old Biff still be alive theoretically considering Doc and Marty can exist within two timelines (the bad alternative)
Young Biff should be able to exist in the alternative bad timeline and Old Biff the future timeline. It's not like he killed his younger version.
Derek stated (the comment above) that Lorraine shot the younger Biff hence older Biff dying.
After all these years, there are STILL things I've never seen before or connections I hadn't made. Great video, best trilogy ever made. So cleverly made. Hollywood will never top BTTF
thank you
Just saw part 1 for the Easter Egg. One of my favourite trilogies and had a huge impression on me when I was growing up. The scene with MJ album cover in the mirror is definitely a nodded to MJ's Song, Man in the Mirror. In addition, the Statler family have been always involved in Transport in all three films: Statler Toyota, Statler Studebaker and Honest Joe's Statler which buy and trade horses.
I've not long watched the trilogy back to back so these first 2 breakdowns make so much mores sence. Great stuff one again Paul
I've been watching this movie on repeat recently. It's such a great f'in movie.
The best of the franchise.
This isn’t a movie. It’s a video about a movie
I never noticed that the clock tower was Biff's building until just now.
Finally ❤❤ been waiting for this one can't wait for part 3 love the vids
here we go babyyyyyy happy you’re doing all of these
Man I’ve loved this movie since I was a kid such a classic and another great breakdown! I never caught it before but the “smoking required” sign had me rolling 🤣🤣 great start to the year Paul!! Congrats on the new home! Much love bro 🤘🔥
Cheers mate, thanks for all your support through 2023. All the best for 2024.

Back to the Future is my favorite film franchise. Thank you for the breakdown and can't wait for part 3.
thank you, should be out at the end of the month
@@heavyspoilers The house that George McFly is peeping at in BTTF is the same house shown in Teenwolf!🐺🏠🎥🎬

amazing research - i have a lot more to watch for when i watch it again .... kudos
I was waiting for this one! Thank you so much! Happy new year!!!
Same to you! All the best for 2024.
I've never heard anyone say that Biff's changed future as a car detailer is actually a happy, improved life for him. Instead of being a disliked jerk forever, he actually becomes nice and likeable.
He didn’t seem to enjoy it much. Having to lick the boots of people he hated.
But yes, he was more likable, even though he was faking it.
Biff in the casino timeline was probably murdered, that is why future Biff was disappearing in the deleted scene..
zz top, huey lewis and the news, flea, chuck berry...what a great group of musicians for the back to the future movies we'll always have to cherish for ALL time 🎸 and that's the power of love!
Love the humor, love your passion, love all the info, just when I thought I knew all about BTTF :-) Thank you for another great video
Can't wait to see more thanks
Say what you will about Crispin, he is a brilliant actor that does not age and I’m still waiting on the Hydrater by Black and Decker.
It will breakdown very quickly
Hydrate level 4 please…….
The way Marty gets annoyed by being called a chicken in this one, but not in the first movie, is because this isn't the same Marty from the first movie, but an alternate version of him brought about by him making George stand up for himself against bullying in the past.
Although that doesn't explain why the old Biff doesn't also change when he returns to 2015 after giving his younger self the almanac, unless this would mean that he would normally be dead in 2015 through that alternate timeline, but I don't think we get any hints or proofs of that.
The only real reason is because sequels weren't planned when the original was made.
Time changes are like ripples in the water.
Old Biff had just enough time to return the DeLorean before being wiped from existence.
Marty's change took time, too, but it was subtler.
@NarwahlGaming Old Biff Disappeared shortly after returning back to 2015
Because Lorraine shot Biff Dead in 1990A,5 Years after 1985A so he was dead in 2015A
@@NarwahlGaming - My take is this. Alternate Biff has Doc Brown committed. Therefore, time machine never gets built. Classic paradox. So, when he goes forward from 1955, he’s back where he started. Doc and Marty end up in alternate 1985 because they hadn’t fixed what Biff did in 1955. It’s also set into motion the events that could wipe Biff from existence (Mad Dog is hung for robbing the stage coach at the end of BTTF3)…although Mad Dog might have had kids before he died. This why I think the alternate scene of Biff vanishing in 2015 wasn’t used…too many questions and no time to address them.
Loved part 2, went more into detail with time travel and the effects of it 👍
Amazing thank you
Fun fact you missed: the old man collecting money for the clock tower was Charles Fleischer, the voice of Roger Rabbit from the Zemeckis directed film.
Nice! Thank you for dropping that, totally missed it
@@heavyspoilers I’m too big a nerd for this trilogy haha.
I love how a seemingly throw away line from the first movie sets up the entire plot of the second one. Doc is preparing to go to the future and he says something like, "I'll get to see who wins the next 25 world series." I know they didn't mean it as foreshadowing at the time, but the makers of the sequel retroactively made it become that. Little details like that make it such a cohesive trilogy. I had come up with a fan theory once in which Marty's uncle Joey is the one who burned Doc's house down and that's how he ended up in prison. But when I looked at the newspaper article in the opening scene, the date the house burned down would have had Joey only being 7 or 8 years old at the time. I guess I suck at fan theories. Another thing I noticed is that Marty and Jennifer should not have been able to be old in 2015 since their younger selves were taken out of the timeline because they were in the time machine. Kind of like when Einstein was sent a minute into the future, he wasn't there until that minute had elapsed. I love this trilogy, but that's one plot hole I've never seen addressed.
1. And another thing from the first part: how can Doc from 1955 identify Martys brother on the photograph ? ("look they cut your brothers hair !")
2. Docs death in 1885 : why can 1955 Doc see his own grave, he doesn't disappear from the timeline ? 1985 Marty almost dies as they parents do not kiss.
I can actually address two of the three plot holes.
Marty and Jennifer couldn't have been in 2015- That's one of those abstract things that's hard to visualize in time travel stories, but it's not a plot hole. At that point in the story we can assume that they would have gone back to 1985 eventually and lived their lives until 2015. They did that, technically, it just wasn't the same one that they left because Biff interfered, which changed the timeline. If that hadn't happened they would have gone right back to the night they left.
Doc's death- This is also not a paradox, because the Doc that died in 1885, is the older Doc from 1985. Doc lived an entire lifetime, like anyone, he just spent part of it in the past. Dying in the past is not what triggers the paradox, it's creating a timeline where you never existed. If the younger Doc from 1955 had gone back in time and died, then the Doc in 1985 would disappear, and the events of the whole trilogy would have never happened (because he wouldn't have built the time machine for another 30 years). For that reason, the 1955 Doc never travels through time in any direction. Only the older one from 1985. Does that make sense?
It's been a while since I've watched the movie, so I don't remember the context of the line about Marty's brother. I need to watch these movies again. It's been too long.
@@stefankrautz9048I can address both your plot-holes.
1. The explanation for why doc knew that was Mart'y brother in the photo can simply be because doc saw that it was a family photo, and Marty was in it, so he assumed that that was probably his brother.
2. The reason why 1885 doc's death doesn't affect 1955 doc, is because that doc is actually 1955-doc's future self, not his past self. That is his future self from 1985 who just traveled to 1885, it's not like it's 1955-doc's past self. That's why he's not affected.
Loving these
This is exactly what I needed after a stressful day, just amazing.
10:23 I never thought this line meant that the weather service controlled the weather, just that they could predict when rain would stop down to the second. Having gone back and rewatched that scene now I do think you might be right.
Go back and watch the first one to when Doc I believe was talking with the cop or one of the scenes in the town square involving the setup for the DeLorean, there is someone that goes by in the background on a bike with a hat and coat similar to what Doc wears in BTTF2 and unless I'm just seeing things it kinda looked like Doc style hair sticking out from the hat.
The funniest part of this movie was when she hydrates the pizza in like 5 seconds and Marty's son yells out "IS IT REEADDDYYYY???" LOLOLOL
I love the Back to the Future movies, thanks for the breakdown.
BTTF 2 really took the franchise to new heights in terms of the complexities of time travel and had enough staying power to still be referenced to this day 30 plus years later. We actually got power laces in a shoe once and Nike released a collectors edition of the future shoes.....but NO FREAKIN HOVERBOARDS YET!!!! This is not the future I was promised.
Remember that one Lexus tried to convince us they were going to make?
Where’s the 3D holography this movie promised us?! Heck, even 3D TVs are nonexistent anymore, so that technology is probably still decades away.
@@Dark_Mishra Oh, all that 3-D tech is being horded by Canadians.......those crafty Canadians....ohhhhhh I'll get you back someday!!!
I’ll be livid until Hoverboards are available. There’s no reason with technology we don’t have them yet! Pure laziness by Lexus, Mattel, etc 😉😏
This future SUCKS. Let's go back and try again. 😄
That line about Rich Biff being on a certain list earned a like button smashing lol
This is my favorite movie, I love it so much as this takes memories back from my father… I love it even more thanks to you. I really appreciate this video. I will see what else you have out there.
This is a tidal wave of information on one of my favourite movies.❤
Was waiting for this. Hot take, but this is my favorite bttf movie
It was my favorite as a kid, but BTTF is my favorite as an adult.
When you were referring to spotting the Back to the Future II versions of characters in the first movie- there's a much better possibility if you watch the bit when Doc Brown is explaining that he can't be warned about the future there's a bicyclist in the background that comes quite close to what we see Doc Brown wearing in the second movie. It's about an hour and fifteen minutes in.
I just rewatched back to the future 2 today and this video uploads too, very interesting 🤔
Never knew about that hoverboard accident omfh that's DARK
BTW PLEASE COVER PART 3 ASAP❤❤❤❤
Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen is my favorite iteration of Biff. But my favorite example of Biff is the small scene in part 2 wherein Biff steals a rubber ball from a group of kindergarteners. I'll leave you a link in the comments to use at your discretion.
Yes, it's a great character moment. It sounds like he's playfully teasing the kids, and then suddenly he turns unambiguously nasty. It faked us out by pretending to humanize him briefly.
You want your ball ? ... GO GET IT !! .. ( laughs and walks away ) ..
it's the best@@penaltybox9097
Very good man, idk if you missed it or was just waiting to add it to part 3, under SS Strickland's name on the sign above the door it has the word discipline, the same word his great great grandfather tells his son to remember in part 3. Either way i can't wait to watch you breakdown the last one, it's my favorite. I've watched all 3 at least 40+ times, they are my comfort movies.
Agree. Just watched part 3 last night for heck of it. It’s wild how comforting all three of Back To The Future’s movies are.
This is brilliant work. Well done! I can't wait for BTTF3, as it's always been my favorite in the series.
Thank you 🙏
First thing I see upon coming home. Thanks Paul, you're a cool dude.
Just to point out that is the Jaws for the NES in the store front window.... not the movie on VHS.
Thanks. Came here to say that. Nice catch. LJN logo in the left hand corner 🤓
This is an awesome video! I always wondered why Biff was in such pain when he got back to 2015. I thought he had stabbed himself with the broken part of his cane! 😂
Nice just watched this yesterday
Good video I really enjoyed this vid
i love the old school movie breakdowns better than the modern movies lol guess its the nostalgia
The quality has something to do with it 😉! Back To The Future is incredible example of how - practical effects, attention to detail - and - story connectivity - are what make movies great. All 3 Back To The Future movies, have those 3 elements mentioned, as key priorities. I love all 3!
11:45 Doc used Western Union, not the United States Postal Service, to deliver the letter to Marty in 1955 from 1885.
I’ve gone cross-eyed with all these Easter eggs but “Smoking’s Required” is one of my favorites.
This movie is truly a masterpiece. So well done
You may know this, but didn't seem to mention it. So I thought I'd say it here. They weren't trying to predict what the future would really be like. Many films at the time depicting the future showed it as being really bleak. They wanted to create a bright and colorful future filled with things that they'd want to see (like flying cars and hoverboards).
Also, I mentioned this on your first video, but Red Thomas isn't the homeless man according to the filmmakers.
Am I the only one who noticed the MASSIVE plot error where the old Biff would NOT be able to return the time machine to 2015 since he changed the past by giving young Biff the Almanac? The bigger problem with this is that they actually leave Jennifer in the "bad" future because they know it wouldn't exist anymore if they go back and change time (just like Biff did). There's even the scene with Doc explaining this on the chalkboard. This always bugged me as a kid. Otherwise, there were tons of new things I never noticed in this video.
Pretty sure most people notice that. It’s discussed in time travel lore whenever that topic comes up. You’re also right.
44:23 lmao you just know Biff would be on that island with Kevin Spacey, Chris Tucker, Trump and Clinton. What a crew
I remember watching the first one as a kid and I had my mind blown that there could a continuation of a movie especially one I loved so much. Then I go see 2 in the theater and the preview for 3 was in the beginning of 2
"I disagreed with the ending, it shouldnt have been about money it should have been love .... and then they refused to pay me $1 million for the 2nd movie can you believe it like oh my god I love money"
Looking forward to part 3!
Love terminater in there asking 😂why all the time😂. I love your channel! I just recently found it and the presentation and amount of knowledge you have.... i learned alot thanks!
Thank you
You missed your reference to doc in earlier videos. The scene actually appears in BTF, go back to when Marty writes the letter and watch the background. You will see the stand-in riding the bike wearing the same clothes as he does when Doc is incognito in BTF2.
I love Back to the future part 2 because I love how they went to the year 2015 and in 2015 it's really cool that they have all the stuff that we don't have to this day.
We used to be so hopeful for the future
I think you must be my favorite channel. Paul your the man, very funny commentary.
Thank you 🙏
Looking forward to part 3 👍
A big plot hole I noted, when old biff goes back to the 50s to give himself the almanac, he is then able to go back to the same version of 2015 and drop the DeLorean off for doc and Marty. Old biff should have been In a 2015 version of the hell scape they created in 1985 leaving doc and Marty trapped in an alternate 2015 to the one that old biff went back to.
It is beginning to transform around them all, that's why he feels so bad, since he will be dead by 2015 in the new altered history, and is about to disappear from existence, when the alteration is complete.
@@anderspemer358 I saw that, but does that then mean the whole reality of that 2015 will disappear from existence too? I'm probably asking a lot from a short movie lol.. They can't fit in absolutely everything.
@@FlyinRaptorJesus Not disappear, when they leave in the car for 1985, which turns out to be 1985A, 2015 is reasonably just about transforming into 2015A. In the deleted scene where old Biff fades away, he does that mere seconds after they take off. Uhm.... then it cuts to them in the car doing the actual travelling back in time.
Doc tells Marty when they then head further back to 1955 to get the book back from Biff, that they can leave Jennifer and Einstein in 1985A, it will revert back to normal 1985 around them as soon as the mission succeeds, and it must be the same with 2015 changing into 2015A.
I always thought the same thing
It takes time for everything to change. Old Biff came right back to where he left and he wasn’t gone long at all. He himself, started to fade away, but everything else takes time. Ripple effect.
18:56 That's not VHS, that's the NES version of Jaws. You can see the Nintendo logo seal on the bottom right and you can see the JLB rainbow logo on the upper left plus you can also see the games tag line in the white boxes stating "This time, there is no escape"
I'm glad I wasn't the only one that caught this one
I don't have a delorean, I had to wait the long way for this one. Worth it!
INSANEEEEEEEE DETAIL
This is definitely my favorite of the three. My main issue has always been how Biff even knew how to work the delorean to begin with and why he even cared to bring it back after he was done hooking up past Biff.
That's not even the silliest part of that scene. Biff changed the timeline, so if he had gone... back to the future, he wouldn't have gone back to THAT future. He would have gone to the version of 2015 that followed from the 1985 where Biff is filthy rich, killed George McFly, and burned Hill Valley to the ground. He couldn't have brought the DeLorean back to them if he wanted to.
No matter how I try to parse it, with the rules of time travel established in this series, this whole movie definitely doesn't actually make any sense. Doc and Marty should've been stuck in 2015 until Doc built a new time machine because there is simply no way for old Biff to bring back the DeLorean to the timeline he originated from after handing over the sports almanac.
I tried to think about it in terms of Old Biff managed to return to his proper timeline due to returning before young Biff had a chance to make any changes, since young Biff didn't take the almanac seriously until after attempts were made to steal it from him, but those attempts only happened because of the past changing in the first place which didn't become apparent until Doc and Marty returned to 1985, before they had a chance to attempt to steal it from young Biff which means at some point young Biff would eventually actually take the almanac seriously and the past would change without Doc and Marty's influence.
As there was no way not to immediately alter the future by handing over the sports almanac, Old Biff shouldn't have been able to return to the same timeline he came from and Doc and Marty should have been stranded till a new time machine could be made. With the hyper futuristic technology of 2015 I'm sure making a new time machine would have been easy enough and not taken very long but it still should have been necessary as from Doc and Marty's point of view the DeLorean should have just disappeared without a trace and never returned. After a new time machine is made then the plot of the story could more or less continue as is without any of the major mechanical time travel problems the movie currently has.
Also, I very much love this movie, the whole trilogy is amazing, but some parts require me to shut my brain off to actively enjoy.
@@paulwright774 Those are just the problems with a non-multiverse theory of time travel. It simply doesn't work, and the only reason it exists is so the first film has an action with consequences for Marty (not existing)
That 2nd paragraph actually makes the most sense as Biff didn't do anything with the book until AFTER Marty and Doc went back to retrieve it, potentially, he just threw it away or lost it driving down the road, Marty and Doc had to go back to try to steal it but failed somehow on their 1st attempt maybe? Yeah, my parents always told me that if you think about Sci-Fi too much it ruins the fun lol @@paulwright774
@@ASpooneyBard Doc is just speculating that is how time travel works. He has not actually observed it happen himself.
What you show as Jaws 1 & 2 on VHS in the window of the antiques shop is really Jaws for the NES... you can see the rainbow LJN logo in the upper left corner as well as the golden seal of approval from Nintendo in the bottom right. Maybe you can hire me as an editor. ;)
Yup, I noticed this, too.
Ive seen this movie a zillion times and learned new things seeing this video! I had NO IDEA the girs stunt doublel on the hooverboard actually crashed fell for real in the crash scene!
Yeah! Thank you
We need a breakdown of The Crow…it’s a classic
Actually, Red the bum being Red Thomas the previous mayor, is actively denied to be the case by the Bobs.
And alright, maybe it wouldn't be very nice that a previous mayor goes that much downhill.
Apparently MJF ad libbed the line calling the bum Red when Marty had returned to 1985 in part 1.
I guess I would want it to be the same Red, too, though...
I always misheard that line as "Bret", didn't realise he was calling him "Red", but seems pretty undeniable looking back at that scene
Might be misremembering, but I thought he called him Bret under his breath at the end of the first one too...
Red and the Bum are played by two different actors. And if Red was old in 1955 he’d be in his 90s or deceased.
It’s also a nice touch at 11:32 that one of the “community” signs is Neighborhood Watch.
can't wait for the part 3 breakdown.
45:00 To be specific, the claim was that the DeLorean spun out, rotating on its axis so fast that it passed 88 miles per hour, even though it wasn't moving anywhere, so that's what caused the accidental time jump.
That's what I'd always assumed... who in their right mind thinks that it would just arbitrarily start writing the years it traveled without any previous hints that was a thing?
I can see that. I’ve always viewed it as: if lightning struck the DeLorean - but - it wasn’t traveling 88mph - and - wasn’t set for specific destination - then it would get thrown to some random unknown point in time.
The time circuits kept malfunctioning to destination of 1885. When the DeLorean got struck by lightning - the time circuits defaulted to 1885 - thereby throwing Doc to 1885. Marty said “you don’t want to get struck by lightning”; was basically Marty reminding Doc that if that occurred, he’d be tossed to a random time unknown.
*Spoiler warning*
Fun fact: Walter Scott (the Stunt coordinator) appears as a cameo in all 3 movies, in the first movie he's the jeep driver Marty holds on to when he is skating his way to school. In the second movie, he's the driver of the futuristic Jeep Marty hooks on to. And in the 3rd movie, he's the conductor on the train when Clara Clayton pulls the cord on the train
18:42 never saw those guys before, the "future hippies" crossing the street, and the sign says "uniglobe" travel. great vids man!
Can't wait for part 3
I've always marveled at how fast Marty can run at the end. The first film establishes that Lyon Estates is approximately two miles from the courthouse. Doc-1955 is dancing around celebrating the effective transfer of Marty-1985 back to the future, then Marty-1985a shows up at a dead run. He ran approximately 2 miles in approximately 2 minutes.
Couldn't the lighting strike the DeLorean before BTTF 1 Marty was sent back to the future? What time did the Western Union guy show up?
What about the DeLorean travelling to 1885 without being at 88mph?
@@glauciob.4762 - it was lightning. The DeLorean (and train in BTTF3) - were catalysts used to time travel - time travel could occur if said catalysts got struck by lightning. Marty said - “you don’t want to get struck by lightning” - was essentially a reminder to Doc that if he (and DeLorean) got struck while in the said DeLorean - Doc would get thrown somewhere random in time unknown. But, the time circuit kept malfunctioning to 1885, so when it got struck it sent Doc to 1885.
@@jayw3512 if so, why did they have to accelerate to 88mph when receiving the lightning at the first movie?
If you have to replace an actor, just have another character comment on their change in appearance and have the character in question respond by saying “I have been eating beets”. It works because nobody ever eats beets more than once, so nobody knows what happens if you actually eat beets regularly.
one of my favs and you cover it let's goooo just like T2
For me it's ten am this video was posted one hour ago, and I think it's wonderful someone is thinking about back to the future ❤
👀B.2.T.F. breakdown in wee while+new subscriber here mate🏴
I love that you said "Electric Boogaloo"!!! I do that all the freaking time!
Same! Annoys my wife!
Honestly I only watch this channel for old movies, but it's nice mindslop that is well put together.
GREAT SCOTT! I painted Doc Brown on my channel, love these movies! Nice video.
Can't wait for the invincible breakdowns this year!!
Great
I was always intrigued by the Laser Discs in the alley where Doc and Marty first landed in 2015.
