In our Hebbar Iyengar community my grandma used to occasionally make "poruccha" chambdth, which I took to mean as some kind of fried rasam. Thanks to Mami here, I realized that it meant rasam without tamarind, which it indeed was. It was always part of the menu for tiruvadyanam (annual death commemoration)
