    This is where it all began, 2015, and here we are now, 2023, saying our final farewell to the Hellcat. It was a great run Dodge, you guys made some badass muscle cars. Sad to see these get discontinued, It truly is the end of an era.

      @@becausereasons9777 you are correct, Dodge has ALWAYS underrated their hellcat motors. 707hp in the hellcats have dynoed closer to 740-750hp depending on heat and humidity. I'd like to shake the lawyer's hand who signed off on these cars mega motors.

    Charger Hellcat tested at 11.4 @ 128 for around 65K (Car and Driver). Panamera Turbo S tested at 11.5 @ 122 for around 195K (Car and Driver). No sedan has ever been tested quicker than this Hellcat. You want more facts, this Hellcat beats the Porsche to 170 by more than 5 seconds! Panamera 0 - 170 = 28.2. Hellcat 0 - 170 = 23.1. The RS7 is not quicker or faster, even with it's AWD, I've checked. The Panamera has the quickest run of 11.5, out of all the foreign sedans. Everything I have said is the truth, go look for yourself. Searched the 3 main magazines for my times. Sorry to ruin your day with facts, fanboys. Hellcat FTW.

      Thanks man, and for those Eurofags that will argue about quality...well I've been in a Panamera S and Turbo several times, the interior wasn't all that special for a 180K plus price tag and the handling was alright but not better then a Mustang BOSS 302....the Charger Hellcat is definitely a steal at 65K.

      I rather buying a hellcat Challenger over a Charger and you going to compare a Charger with Panamera Turbo I would buy the Panamera. Best American cars are the ZR1, GT, Viper and the GT500

      But it's not something you call great progress, stock 2006 M5 delimited will hit 200mph and that's almost 10 years old...@luis Hellcat is cheap in the states, but no in the rest of the world... Everything domestic we buy here is 20% cheaper then in the US. And everything we import is 20% more expensive.

    I wanted a Hellcat, but knew it was totally unnecessary and I'd just get into more trouble commuting with 707HP. The Daytona 392 is fairing perfectly fine for my needs. Great car.

    Dear Dodge
    Would you be so generous to provide me with a charger hellcat?
    Reasons:
    #1 I've never seen one in europe
    #2 I'd kick my rich friends ass (rs5) with it
    #3 I'd test the hell outta it on the german autobahn
    #4 This would be also a pretty nice advertising
    #5 707 hp
    #6 It's a Hellcat, so it's probably more unique than a ferrari in europe
    #7 Shopping or doing daily things with 707hp, hell yeah
    #8 I'd take more care of it than of my own girlfriend (assumed that i have one)
    #9 My father would finally give up his opel corsa (55hp) from 1999 (that thing doesn't even have power steering)
    #10 I would have a smile on my face that would last forever
    Yours faithfully
    Edmond

    Since I'm on a roll with this pesky fact finding mission, the Hellcat also got better fuel economy than the RS7, while costing half as much. 130K for the RS7 versus 65K for the Hellcat. C&D averaged 9 MPG with the RS7 on their recent test and they averaged 13 MPG with the Hellcat on their recent test. I thought Euro cars were more fuel efficient than American cars? I am pretty positive that everyone who replies will have something silly to say since you cannot win the argument with facts you don't have. Hellcat FTW!

    "There is no difference between the car we're testing today and the car you can buy at a dealer" The full roll-cage determined that was a lie

    • @Bronywithguns870
      @Bronywithguns870 9 лет назад +6

      You gotta think about it this way: these guys knew they were gonna go well over 120mph and they were going by drag standards which means if they have under a 10 second quarter or hit a certain speed, a roll cage is required. they have to take safety into account hence the racing harness and the roll cage. Those are the only modifications added to the car so those arent going to be included in the dealer models obviously

    • @richeerich561
      @richeerich561 9 лет назад +10

      You DO realize a rollcage is added weight.. Right?? Meaning the production car that comes without one will be ever slightly so faster.. Just sayin'.

    • @JerseyMikeP
      @JerseyMikeP 7 лет назад +1

      Weight really doesn't affect top speed "much"...(just look at the Veyron that weights 4486lbs (only 6lbs less than the Hellcat Charger C&D tested). It does affect acceleration alot, long time rule of thumb was that every 100lbs = .1 and 1mph in the 1/4 mile. It would just take longer to accelerate to top speed.

  • @secretariat224
    @secretariat224 9 лет назад +1

    First off, let me say that I drive a Charger and really enjoy it, and also enjoyed watching this test immensely. The Hellcat is an incredibly awesome car, without a doubt, but I'm wondering why this video shows the same vantage point of the speed gun BOTH times? Surely not to save money, or time constraints, one would hope.
    The second time around, the footage, which seems to be another of another lap, is also shown from the southeast corner of the track; zoomed in a bit, but one cannot see the actual speed on the gun, as it did the first time. I noticed that the arm swing of the speed gun holder was different, but you can see the same trees, bridge, and landscape as the first time; the shadows - at 8:30 AM, the sun would be to the approximate left of the car as it enters the southeast turn - are roughly the same, and the tar repairs to the track are identical, too. A viewing of the Google Maps satellite shot of the track bears out the landscape and bridge theory at the very least, so I don't think I'm blowing smoke here.
    I certainly don't doubt that the Charger Hellcat can go 204 MPH, but include footage from the northwest side of the track as well, otherwise there will be doubters/haters. I hope these observations don't bring out too many who will say to "enjoy the video and shut up", or "I've got too much time on my hands", but these findings didn't take too much time off my hands at all. I'm sure there are many of us who are tired of seeing incomplete footage or data in the public domain, so why the heck not bring it up, I say.
    Other than all that, Mopar or no car! Take care out there.

      I'm pretty sure it's the YUCCA Arizona test track, the Chrysler Chelsea track that the 1970 Daytona were the first to do 200mph is shorter.

      Private people, the best is to take it to a road race event, Silver state, or other 50 mile flat out race on regular roads or Bonneville are the only places you can really max out these cars is a safe way.

    +Cezar W The 2015 bmw m5 has a limited speed of 155 mph and a ungoverned speed of 185 mph and has a twin turbo V8 and weights 4450 lbs 50 lbs lighter than the hellcat at 4500 lbs. m5 has 560 hp and 500 ft lb tq compared to the 707 hp and 650 ft lb tq of the hellcat. Your claims don't make sense unless the BMW is modified. Seems your just mad a american car that is cheaper can be faster and more powerful. Yes the bmw is better built in terms of interior and tech that's why you pay more for it.

    • @hingholo8027
      @hingholo8027 8 лет назад +8

      Stfu fanboy Bmw or any German automakers are fucking expensive for no reason than the badge and hellcat is way faster than your shitty m5 that you will never buy cause it's too expensive.

    • @JerseyMikeP
      @JerseyMikeP 8 лет назад

      +brett garnett Bmw motors technology is worth it, all the other I-drive BS is a waste of money and most never use/know how to work it. Germany cars are over priced and your paying for the badge especially Porsche.
      (Your claims don't make sense unless the BMW is modified) ..why..stock is stock and the hellcat is actually closer in price to an m3 not the over priced M5. A the Euro guys say, Oh if I chip modify blah blah it will be faster" true anything can be made faster if you modify it...but it's not stock and costs even more. If I spend $70K (difference in price with an M5) on a fiat 500 I can get it to out run a veyron.

    so you said at the beginning of the video the testing was done from a factory spec level, tires and all. then you cut away to video of it in test run and it has a roll cage built in and you said custom tires designed? which is it

      The factory version is going to have the custom tires. The roll cage is needed to race on that track at high speeds, They would rather have a lower top speed than someone dead.

    Why the challenger and charger sold to the public has speed chip that stops it at 185-186mph i love both cars but stop advertising 200mph when the one sold to public stops at 185mph

      There's no chip limiting it. There's just nowhere to push it to top speed, save for like Indianapolis or this track if you can get on it. You'd be a fool to try on public roads

    • @JerseyMikeP
      @JerseyMikeP 7 лет назад

      True, you'd need about a 3 mile straight and balls of steel;-) The Hellcat challenger can get to 88% of it's top speed within 1 mile from a standing start. I could easily do it on the parkway/turnpike in NJ during the midnight hours;-P

  • @GT-OD
    @GT-OD 9 лет назад +1

    That wasnt a normal hellcat they weight reduct it it didnt have a back seat and why they only showed the hellcat driving around the track and not showing the speedometer showing 204 or 202mph all top speed videos show the speedometer getting up to top speed not just showing the car around the track.

    • @GT-OD
      @GT-OD 8 лет назад

      +Tomaz Hilton I know that but still the back seat was missing allowing less weight in the rear of the car.

    • @TomazHilton
      @TomazHilton 8 лет назад

      +O'Dhalsim Scruggs ok but your point? that only matter on a racecourse. still with the back seats, the most of the weight is in the front.

    • @GT-OD
      @GT-OD 8 лет назад

      +Tomaz Hilton If you had a backpack on your back and a 2 year old child on your chest and you ran against some one who only had the 2 year old on their chest who would run faster?
