I'm just curious, does anyone know the name of the song they used? I remember hearing it on Asetto Corsa, but I couldn't find anything on what the name is.
😃 Hello! I've got a 2016 PlumCrazy Charger Hellcat. Fast, safe, & fun car! In fact, it's so safe at the power level, I have loaned it to someone from work twice.😉
First off, let me say that I drive a Charger and really enjoy it, and also enjoyed watching this test immensely. The Hellcat is an incredibly awesome car, without a doubt, but I'm wondering why this video shows the same vantage point of the speed gun BOTH times? Surely not to save money, or time constraints, one would hope. The second time around, the footage, which seems to be another of another lap, is also shown from the southeast corner of the track; zoomed in a bit, but one cannot see the actual speed on the gun, as it did the first time. I noticed that the arm swing of the speed gun holder was different, but you can see the same trees, bridge, and landscape as the first time; the shadows - at 8:30 AM, the sun would be to the approximate left of the car as it enters the southeast turn - are roughly the same, and the tar repairs to the track are identical, too. A viewing of the Google Maps satellite shot of the track bears out the landscape and bridge theory at the very least, so I don't think I'm blowing smoke here. I certainly don't doubt that the Charger Hellcat can go 204 MPH, but include footage from the northwest side of the track as well, otherwise there will be doubters/haters. I hope these observations don't bring out too many who will say to "enjoy the video and shut up", or "I've got too much time on my hands", but these findings didn't take too much time off my hands at all. I'm sure there are many of us who are tired of seeing incomplete footage or data in the public domain, so why the heck not bring it up, I say. Other than all that, Mopar or no car! Take care out there.
compton3c Nah, I was just bored that day. I just thought it was odd that Dodge didn't show both corners of the track. Did they really think that someone wouldn't notice? Thanks for the kind words, though.
At 190mph my charger hellcat starts to wobble??!! And my friend who owns a challenger hellcat says he had a similar problem. Is this still an issue today?
Thank god Dodge is finally doing these videos, so we can repost them and shut up all the crooked (paid off) magazines and dumb sheeple in the world. Thank you FCA, I'm glad you guys are awake now!!!!! ;o)
Weight really doesn't affect top speed "much"...(just look at the Veyron that weights 4486lbs (only 6lbs less than the Hellcat Charger C&D tested). It does affect acceleration alot, long time rule of thumb was that every 100lbs = .1 and 1mph in the 1/4 mile. It would just take longer to accelerate to top speed.
When you say Dodge combined with the words sedan and fastest production car in the world....just quit it ! I can’t take it anymore. Uncle! Uncle! Whether you are a Chevy, Ford or Mopar fan...these are good times if you’re a performance nut.
+Cezar W The 2015 bmw m5 has a limited speed of 155 mph and a ungoverned speed of 185 mph and has a twin turbo V8 and weights 4450 lbs 50 lbs lighter than the hellcat at 4500 lbs. m5 has 560 hp and 500 ft lb tq compared to the 707 hp and 650 ft lb tq of the hellcat. Your claims don't make sense unless the BMW is modified. Seems your just mad a american car that is cheaper can be faster and more powerful. Yes the bmw is better built in terms of interior and tech that's why you pay more for it.
Stfu fanboy Bmw or any German automakers are fucking expensive for no reason than the badge and hellcat is way faster than your shitty m5 that you will never buy cause it's too expensive.
+brett garnett Bmw motors technology is worth it, all the other I-drive BS is a waste of money and most never use/know how to work it. Germany cars are over priced and your paying for the badge especially Porsche. (Your claims don't make sense unless the BMW is modified) ..why..stock is stock and the hellcat is actually closer in price to an m3 not the over priced M5. A the Euro guys say, Oh if I chip modify blah blah it will be faster" true anything can be made faster if you modify it...but it's not stock and costs even more. If I spend $70K (difference in price with an M5) on a fiat 500 I can get it to out run a veyron.
That will depend entirely on your driving habits and purpose for the vehicle. Also, if you can perform more of the simple maintenance needs yourself, you can save a lot of money down the road.
So they did couple of body mods to the Charger to get the drag down so they could reach 200mphand the they put Zebra wrap on it so people would think its a 100% normal Charger, ye right
That wasnt a normal hellcat they weight reduct it it didnt have a back seat and why they only showed the hellcat driving around the track and not showing the speedometer showing 204 or 202mph all top speed videos show the speedometer getting up to top speed not just showing the car around the track.
+Tomaz Hilton If you had a backpack on your back and a 2 year old child on your chest and you ran against some one who only had the 2 year old on their chest who would run faster?
cool car but dont wana hate but, why not just buy a used cheaper e60 m5 or w211 e63/e55 amg that are both still fast af like the hellcat but cost less and have more luxury?
Why the challenger and charger sold to the public has speed chip that stops it at 185-186mph i love both cars but stop advertising 200mph when the one sold to public stops at 185mph
There's no chip limiting it. There's just nowhere to push it to top speed, save for like Indianapolis or this track if you can get on it. You'd be a fool to try on public roads
True, you'd need about a 3 mile straight and balls of steel;-) The Hellcat challenger can get to 88% of it's top speed within 1 mile from a standing start. I could easily do it on the parkway/turnpike in NJ during the midnight hours;-P
Private people, the best is to take it to a road race event, Silver state, or other 50 mile flat out race on regular roads or Bonneville are the only places you can really max out these cars is a safe way.
so you said at the beginning of the video the testing was done from a factory spec level, tires and all. then you cut away to video of it in test run and it has a roll cage built in and you said custom tires designed? which is it D rips O il D rips G as E verywhere??
The factory version is going to have the custom tires. The roll cage is needed to race on that track at high speeds, They would rather have a lower top speed than someone dead.
The standard Charger isn't exactly a quality machine I would want to buy. A bunch more power doesn't really change that, I would take a lot less power and a million times more refinement. It's kind of a classic american machine, give it far more power than it's chassis can handle, then praise it as some sort of engineering masterpiece.
aufan1000 I'm European, it's not sold here, but I have driven a Charger for a several weeks and it was absolutely no match for the fast BMW or Audi saloons I have owned. Don't be angry that I fail to see a souped up Charger as some sort of engineering masterpiece when I'm used to BMW or Audi standards of quality and technology.....
Comments like this are amusing, but ultimately worthless. Unless you've owned and driven a Charger, you cannot attest to its abilities or cost of ownership. I assure you that the former is very high, and the latter is suprisingly very low. If anyone cares to argue that, be prepared to prove your claims. I owned a 2007 R/T, and now a 2013 Charger SE. These cars are simply amazing, especially my 13.
P Kranz I basically as good as 'owned' a Charger for quite a while and drove it in the environment it was designed to live in, but without having to buy it fortunately :p It's obviously considered a decent car in the environment it's designed to live in and works ok. However I'm comparing it because I can, and it's strange to want to insulate it from standards elsewhere. I wasn't blown away. I actually had problems with the gearbox while I ran around in it, which I think was a common problem with them. I just can't lie and say the Charger is some sort of engineering masterpiece or any sort of a match for the European cars I am familiar with. So while this is incredibly fast and powerful for the cost, I can't say I would like to pay for one with my own money and own one. Have you ever driven an M5? Say even the old E60 with the V10? They are the benchmark for fast saloons. I'm sure this would easily beat it in a straight line, but the M is 10 years old now and it's still a master class in engineering and all singing all dancing ability compared to any Charger I have ever driven. It costs a huge amount more, but it feels every cent of it too, I assure you.
The Charger isn't marketed to compete with those cars, so any comparison you make is irrelevant. No car made today or in the past, using today's dollars, performs as well as the Charger Hellcat. So to say it is rougher around the edges than cars costing "X" amount more is also irrelevant. Driving a car for a week or a month or 6 months is not the same as owning one, so that comparison is irrelevant. The older LX cars had some maintenance issues, but transmission failure was not a widespread issue. The newer LD Chargers have been.much better - in fact, my '13 has had only 1 recall for an alternator problem I don't have, and there has been only one TSB that doesn't apply to my car. The 2014's are just as durable. These are well-built cars, easy to maintain, and affordable. Your high dollar cars can't touch that kind of reliability and affordability. Your comparisons just don't work. Higher priced cars just can't touch the value of this cat.
This is where it all began, 2015, and here we are now, 2023, saying our final farewell to the Hellcat. It was a great run Dodge, you guys made some badass muscle cars. Sad to see these get discontinued, It truly is the end of an era.

So they did couple of body mods to the Charger to get the drag down so they could reach 200mphand the they put Zebra wrap on it so people would think its a 100% normal Charger, ye right
Wrong and wrong again. Congratulations you got zero percent on your test.
It's so people wouldn't see the new design and leak it.
That wasnt a normal hellcat they weight reduct it it didnt have a back seat and why they only showed the hellcat driving around the track and not showing the speedometer showing 204 or 202mph all top speed videos show the speedometer getting up to top speed not just showing the car around the track.
+O'Dhalsim Scruggs Rollcages actually ADDS WEIGHT.
+Tomaz Hilton I know that but still the back seat was missing allowing less weight in the rear of the car.
+O'Dhalsim Scruggs ok but your point? that only matter on a racecourse. still with the back seats, the most of the weight is in the front.
+Tomaz Hilton If you had a backpack on your back and a 2 year old child on your chest and you ran against some one who only had the 2 year old on their chest who would run faster?
When will I get a Dodge Challenger??! 😔😔😒 damnit man.... Lucky those guys out there they have it.
My god! any1 saw the wind trying to keep up with the wheels 😂
cool car but dont wana hate but, why not just buy a used cheaper e60 m5 or w211 e63/e55 amg that are both still fast af like the hellcat but cost less and have more luxury?
Awesome car, awesome video. Go Dodge//
Now 9 years later, we have speakers as exhaust for our "hellcats".😢
DeeeaaaaaaaM !!!
Why the challenger and charger sold to the public has speed chip that stops it at 185-186mph i love both cars but stop advertising 200mph when the one sold to public stops at 185mph
+supermotardmario ok please show me and stock hellcat hitting 200 (NOT ON A DYNO AND NOT A VIDEO FROM DODGE)
+ColdBloodkilla I'll try sometime. Only got to 170 so far
+Sam Bigar thanks meanwhile my v6 mustang hitting 121😂😂 (im going to get a v8 one day)
There's no chip limiting it.
He's like a bought the whole car I'm gonna use the whole car
Cool Dodge Charger
what track is this!?!? looking for some place to take my cat
I'm pretty sure it's the YUCCA Arizona test track, the Chrysler Chelsea track that the 1970 Daytona were the first to do 200mph is shorter.
Private people, the best is to take it to a road race event, Silver state, or other 50 mile flat out race on regular roads or Bonneville are the only places you can really max out these cars is a safe way.
I love my charger
Dodge didn't have to lie to us about the top speed. They could've told us it goes faster. Why would they try to keep that from us?lol
mpg?
That dodge for you
Where is this track?
At what elevation?
Never found an elevation...but it's in Michigan. The Arizona track has Big elevation changes (500
so you said at the beginning of the video the testing was done from a factory spec level, tires and all. then you cut away to video of it in test run and it has a roll cage built in and you said custom tires designed? which is it
D rips
O il
D rips
G as
E verywhere??
The factory version is going to have the custom tires. The roll cage is needed to race on that track at high speeds, They would rather have a lower top speed than someone dead.
unlike NASCAR
The standard Charger isn't exactly a quality machine I would want to buy. A bunch more power doesn't really change that, I would take a lot less power and a million times more refinement. It's kind of a classic american machine, give it far more power than it's chassis can handle, then praise it as some sort of engineering masterpiece.
Translation of Matt : "I can't afford this car and I'm extremely jealous of people that can" his "refinement" is probably a Nissan Altima-lol
aufan1000 I'm European, it's not sold here, but I have driven a Charger for a several weeks and it was absolutely no match for the fast BMW or Audi saloons I have owned.
P Kranz I basically as good as 'owned' a Charger for quite a while and drove it in the environment it was designed to live in, but without having to buy it fortunately :p
It's obviously considered a decent car in the environment it's designed to live in and works ok.
They did this on my birthday
0:21 goofy flyby
Probably be slightly faster without the rollcage too yeah?
Do they say 203 for the redeye for legal reasons
Awesome ❤️
4500 pounds sedan going that speed C'mon you got to repeat that
It just takes the same length of road, temperature and humidity.
the fastest old Mercedes e-class ever.
Bill Barnews exactamundo
that awesome i"m fan of dodge
Great. Car
This is the only 4 door muscle car you can get.
Sick
Oh gawd and I do the v6 rebuilds for Chrysler which means I get a discount.....oh gawd
its scary to think this is know the lil brother to the demon
I just hope they don't put an electronic speed limiter on it.
Oh hello dodge how are you
