My poor mother bought me a replacement copy for christmas... it's exactly like this fake. It doesn't even fit in the GBA unless you force it, and the startup screen has the copyright line blacked out and it freezes on that.
I was expecting the simple construction from the replica, IIRC the replica would have an issue with the RTC, since it doesn't have a battery and basically uses a chip that essentially save states the game, the clock won't progress forward when the game isn't running.
@@webassasin why tho? I’m just curious. I’m 33 years old. Just recently found all my old shit. I got super fucking excited. Cleaned everything up. LOL everything about the fake copy was the same with the copy I got. Which tbh is fine with me the seller was very honest that it was a bootleg copy but i just wanted to play the game. Ty for this video :)
True. I also find it okay to buy a reproduction or bootleg cartridges since sometimes it is safer to save on them than the original “dying battery issues”.
you completely skipped over the fact that your label has a 20 on it above the nintendo seal thats another way to see if its real. fakes do not have that.
Ik this was like a year ago but will the # next to the seal be in that exact location? Ive seen a lot that look exactly like this except the number is too spaced out or much closer to the Ho Oh
Does the number have to be next to the nintendo seal? Ive seen many that looked exactly like this but either had the numbers spaced out a bit too much or were much closer to the Ho Oh.
this is a pretty late message but it doesn’t quite matter for japanese games. There are many japanese pokemon cartridges, therefore making them cheap to where there is no reason to make fake copies. I live in Japan and I got green with the informational book and box with inserts.
Just beated Lance on a fake cartridge. I bought (super cheap) in Ali express. The gameboy shut off several times during the game, which I overcame with multiple saving every 15 min. However, after beating the elite four, the credits roll, and the game doesn't save. Which means you can't go to Kanto since there is no way of saving the game after beating Lance. If this is an issue for you do not buy a fake copy.
Nice all mine are real then. I knew my red was real as I had it since my siblings were kids. But my yellow, blue, silver, and gold all came from value village lol. It also looks like my Sapphire and Ruby are real so that's cool. There's so many rip offs of the game boy advance games
Bought a blue and red a few years ago not knowing they were fake and worked fine but i just bought a yellow also not knowing it was fake until it restarted my game halfway through. Went to change the battery only to find only half a circuit board with no battery Watched this video and was VERY helpful! At least ill be able to return the yellow. Ps. Turned on my red to check something out in the game i watched online and that just restarted my game as well while i was playing it and have to start over
got myself a copy of it for 20 bucks but with a half ripped of label so i replaced it with a repro and it looks 1:1 the same and i love it how good those repro become in recent years
I got a version of fire red and I still can't tell it ain't beat up but the screw on the back matches along with it being that special screw and the inside also matches with a real copy I can only see the little bit not the inside of it
I have a question: I have a 2nd hand cartridge which has the correct screw. but I cannot find any details on the actual game: Title at the top in yellow is Pokemon, with a subtitle: "Gotta catch them all" and Yellow Edition at the bottom. It also has a picture of Pikachu (I think that's it's name) Is it real or fake?
Do you know if the daily/weekly events work with a replica cartridge and will it be able to trade and battle with other authentic or reproduction copies? I only ask because I have a the original copies of the games but can’t change the battery due to being worried about screwing it up
What I noticed, fakes Pokémon games from red to silver will NOT work in a Gameboy Pocket or an original Gameboy. Authentic Pokémon games will because of how they were programmed and made
All my gbc games have the speckles (the ones that are supposed to), same screw at tye bottom, a manufacturing number but it doesnt have the E at the bottom left
OPINION OF A PERSON WHO PURCHASED ALL THE FAKE COPIES OF POKEMON AND PLAYED THEM FOR HOURS I bought my fake pokemon copies on ebay, I bought all of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation, what I have to say is, I played all of them, pokemon red and yellow gave me a problem right at the beginning, because when I saved the game with pokemons inside the PC and then came back, the pokemon inside the PC were buggy with no name or with strange characters, and when I clicked on them the game crashed, pokemon blue, green, crystal, silver and gold, worked well, I played for hours, but after 20...30 hours of play on pokemon blue, green and silver, I had the same problem with pokemons on PC, pokemons for GBA like ruby, sapphire, leafgreen, firered and emerald worked fine, but in firered the game used to crash, making me have to save the game almost all the time to ensure that I didn't run out of progress, and ruby had a bad connection with my gameboy, I had to press the cartidge to get the game sound, one of the problems that I also have to highlight is that in these games that use other types of chip memory, the gameboy makes more effort to save the game, when I click on the save option, the game kind of goes silent for a few seconds, and then it saves and the sound comes back, in my opinion as a person who bought all the fake games and later bought the originals to be able to play normally, I I think fake pokemon copies are a good option for those who don't worry too much about being fake or not, or if the save gets corrupted overnight, in my opinion, after having had a lot of headaches with this type of games, I recommend the originals more, they are a little more expensive, they require care like changing the battery every 15.. 20 years depending on the quality of the battery, but in my opinion, it's well worth the money.
