All the Schindler Miconic 10 panels have been removed and replaced with the screens shown on floor 9. They are a updated installation of Schindler's Destination Dispatch. But they still have the same internal buttons and panels. The motors are still the Westinghouse machines from the 1980's install. I doubt they will ever be changed, it would be insanely expensive and difficult to remove and replace all the elevator machines. Plus, the Westinghouse motors are just fine anyway.

This hotel is being renovated, and the elevators will probably be modded in the soon future. This install of miconic 10 had been running for almost 13 years. As from most of the video on youtube shows, Miconic 10 is a little buggy and temperamental. Hopefully this mod improves their efficiency.
You can see the new PORT panels on floor 9. Where the elevator rarely stop.
I feel so sad for these elevators. The system could work forever.

Schindler Miconic 10 to PORT!! Very Interesting!! The Miconic 10's were probably just slap on Westinghouse. What a FIRST!!!!

The Miconic 10 I believe they kept the original motor but other than that it was a total mod.
@@PAelevators actually that's exactly what schindler did with miconic mods. Their was a separate control cabinet wired into the original relay cabinet. Obviously they took out a lot of the relays in order to have the miconic controller as the main controller, and not have the whole system malfunction. In the case of miconic to port, the whole control system would be replaced. The motor I don't think would be replaced in this instance, as the liability involved with hoisting the old motor out and the new motor in, above Times square, is probably ridiculous

Why the heck does the panel says the elevators doesn't stop at 9th floor after 5PM?! Why would that floor not be served at certain time of day if the elevators are installed already?
Honestly I have no idea. It's probably so that people don't go to that floor to try to use the elevators if the lobby is busy

Going to stay here for the first time this December...is the elevator system hard to figure out? Seems confusing.
All it is really is that you tell the elevator where you are going before getting on one.
Well I guess there will be no way to get to floor 55 now unless you have a badge of some kind.
I'll check next time. I might ask for a code when you ask it to go there. It's also possibly possible to use the cabinet's to get there still
49 is the top floor. you probably need to walk up the stairs from 49 to 55
All you need to do now is go to 9 and call one of the elevators, the panels have not been fixed so you can still open the cabinet and control the elevator that way.

@@TechNerdNolan they will be, it is insanely expensive to change out thoes motors. Not just the price of them. But you'd have rip up the building to get them out. Plus they are perfectly serviceable.

I am not sure, I have not ever been up to 47 and gotten out. Those PORT panels I show in the video are on floor 9. I think they were put there to demo the system to the Hotel.

Probably not, their performance is not as important as the passenger elevators
I checked them and they were modded as well. They have the newer keypads and not the touchscreen ones.

What does XX mean?
Non-existent floor maybe, but when the Miconic 10 systems was replaced by PORT, the inside cab's floor indicator now displays as "--" (double minus) instead of "XX".

They are being replaced so that Schindler can more adequately service and maintain them. The Miconc 10's were great, but the PORT will have a much better user experience.

On 47 is some sort of service area, 48 is some sort of restaurant, 49 is a management floor
I kinda don’t like the mod cuz you can’t go to the view anymore
