Don't stress too much about lyrics here. Their English songs are mostly written by other people. JK mentioned that with this album he didn't have time to pen meaningful lyrics. So he focused on challenging his vocal skills instead.
I can say as far as the meaning of this song - per JK, all the songs on his album are about love. From finding it to losing it. He didn't write them but did hand pick them. Of course, being a BTS member, there are references that only ARMY would catch like the DNA reference and the wings. I really liked Seven, but this song is everything. Love your reactions and always appreciate you appreciating our guys.
Yea! And he does quick choreo that Jimin did from Dynamite and also the hand lifted up choreo from fake love when he says "no on can deny our love." And when he says DNA he does the hand to arm tap too stylized. Super cool. It feels like a homage to BTS, and MJ, and even Army wrapped in the whole concept of love.
I agree here. Especially about the references and Jake mentioning the 6 back-up dancers, I love seeing that new Army's notice these things too. Great reaction again guys. Love the video's.💜💜
The director of this music video said she was inspired by Romeo and Juliet story, so you can see a lot of references from the movies. JK was her Romeo. As someone already said songs are all about love on this album. There is also live version of this, he just did iHeart Radio performance with the band and he sounds even better live and last night he was on Jimmy Fallon. Thank you for your great reaction.
There are 2 main reasons some ARMY dont like the collabs: 1) Some are having trouble realizing that JK is a grown man. Because he was so young when BTS started, they don't want to let go of that "bunny baby" image they have of him. They see him working with artists like Latto and JH, who are more edgy and mature, as damaging his "reputation" of being the innocent, untouched kpop idol. Which is ridiculous since BTS's discography includes several songs which are raw and sensual. 2) They see it as him "seeking Western validation", which also goes hand in hand with the album being full English. It happened when the 3 English songs BTS put out also. You see a lot of "I miss their Korean songs" comments. They want them to stay niche, because it makes those fans feel "cool" , think they are different because they listen to something outside the mainstream. You see it with any group that evolves outside their genre, like Pearl Jam and Nirvana JK knows exactly what he is doing and where he wants to take his career. He has literally been in the music industry for half of his life. He has said from very early on he wants to be a global POP star, not just a Kpop star. He has the freedom, the ability, and the clout to do that. And hes succeeding, in spite of the roadblocks that the Western music industry is still throwing in his way (putting a fully English song w/ an American feat. artist) into a kpop category).
Exactly. JK has said he wants to be viewed as a global Pop star not just Kpop so his approach with his album is completely different, all the members albums are so different even the style of promotion. I already think of Bangtan as global artists but sadly as you mentioned the Western industry is trying to shove them back in the "kpop" box and using the label to other them. These guys were winning main categories like Top Duo/Group, Top Selling Song, Top Song Sales Artists etc at the BBMA's. JK & many of the other members qualified for nominations in main categories based on Billboards own point system but Billboard purposely created kpop categories this year & ignored their own point system to shove all the members in "kpop" categories. I am still insanely baffled that Agust D was put in Top Selling Kpop Tour category when D-Day is a rap album & he did a Rap Tour. And Agust D became the first rapper in history to sell 1 million copies of an Album (D-Day) in a day. Even Billboard themselves wrote an article titled BTS' Suga Launches at No.1 on Top Rap Albums Chart and mention he made it to the top ten of the Top Rap Songs Chart. They've actually written a few different articles about him being on Rap Charts. How you gonna back-peddle & call it Kpop now?
jungkook is called by korean as legend born in a million years. midas touch. jungkook is always the one sought out by western singers and producers since bts days. jungkook has the perfect rnb pop western vocals. his vocals tone style is pretty much western which set s him apart by other kpop and bts members. he is so versatile with wide range and listed as a singer with perfect pitch alonmg with others big artists like michael jackson beyonce mariah carey/ charlie puth called him perfect pitch. redone of fifa said jk doesn't need editing his voice is so perfect live or not. what is so amazing is jungkook performs live vocals. which is rare. he doesn't use autotune he is the autotune by himself. jungkook always sings live in his weverse live. he does mini concerts
Oh I love the I heart radio. It's so 💜. Just because lm not watching the other performance yet. Still can't move one from the I heart radio. TBH I love the live performance more than the MV.
Please note that there are part of the fandom who does not understand that the features and collabs are what JK chooses to do as part of exploring his musicality. JK is doing what he wants and army supports him 100%. Another thing - this album is all English and he decided to work with others to create the songs instead of him doing it himself. Everything is his choice and I applaud him for being brave to navigate new waters.
BTS Loves and respects Michael Jackson a lot, and every time they can in their videos they show their respect for Him, I have never seen that any group from the USA that shows as much Admiration for Michael Jackson as BTS does, they are our Angels 💜🫰
Es el temazo del año! Si la hubiera sacado a primeros de año habría batido récords en las plataformas. Es tan buena canción y JK le ha puesto tanta alma con su voz y su baile, que me deja estasiada cada vez q la veo y la oigo! Es buenísima!
The dancers are the top choreographers who come up with choreography for idols music. The had the top of the top dancing with Him!!!! How cool was that!!!!
It's funny because a lot of people have mentioned Bruno Mars and The Weekend as possible inspiration, along with MJ. And I think the through line is really that Bruno Mars, The Weekend and Jungkook were all inspired by the era of music that MJ very much dominated. So while it's not impossible to suggest that JK was inspired by the more recent artists, the cultural impact that MJ had is what has inspired artists for decades since his time as king of pop. I also think that the notion of a global popstar that connects people through their music but also transcends their music and becomes a global personality/idol as well is something that very few pop musicians actually achieve, and JK has mentioned a lot that its something he hopes to achieve. Truth be told, he's definitely already there in the eyes of a lot of people. MJ is definitely among the musicians in history that reached that, despite his complicated history as well. Also in recent history, not as many pop musicians have been great dancers or incorporated choreography quite as much as has become valued and executed to a high standard in the KPOP industry- again another factor that only those transcendent popstars throughout history incorporated.
The whole album is fire. Im not saying this as Army but generally as a music lover. JKs has tried new things with his solo album and each of the tracks r mindblowing in its own way. No matter what music taste u have u r gonna love atleast 2-3 of the tracks.
This reaction was everything!!! So good and you guys are hilarious. I already loved your personalities but this was really fun, you were so into it. Golden is a great album with each song taking you through the stages of a relationship, each with a different sound. I have to echo other comments, the live performances of this song are awesome. Hope you check them out and we’d love to watch them with you!! 💜
Wait until you see him do this live!!! It still blows my mind that he is even better live. This is an homage to MJ. Total 70's-80's vibe. Reminds me of Heartbreak Hotel by the Jackson 5. Being Gen X it is so nostalgic for me. I love it. Like others have said the songs on the album are about love. The evolution of a relationship. Many people think the song has a dual meaning. About actual love and then the woman in the mv representing ARMY. This song has tons of references to other BTS songs. Cant wait for more. Great reaction you guys. 😘💜🫰🏻 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Right?? This song is so insanely good. I was completely overwhelmed by how good I thought it was right away and that was after having very high expectations. JK is a performance genius.
The songs he chooses to do keep getting better, and better. His talent and musicality have grown so much just in the last 6 months. It's amazing to see and to enjoy. Good reaction. See you soon.💜
I haven't been this excited about a song after hearing it since I heard Michael Jackson 🔥 JK is 🔥 Global superstar 🌟💜♾️💟✌️🔥 " I'm f..kin digging it bro" 😂 me too 🔥🌟👏💜
I really love your reactions - this one was on point too. JK really has created a masterpiece with this song, his album also. I’m so grateful and proud of him. Thank you for reacting. 💜
BTS did say that they have that afterglow feeling after a very satisfying concert seeing their fans having a good time. For all the members their fans are their second priority…. Their first priority is their group.
This song hits on many on their previous songs, black swan etc… but he did say it was about love & loss. I think it does have a double meaning. Afterglow can be the euphoria after a concert when ur glowing and glistening with sweat. Just take wat u want from it. Where ever it hits you! Thats what I love about there double meaning songs. Plus he does a lot regarding ARMY. He is leaving for the service and he will still be with us! 😊💜😍
1st JK says his album is about the universal language which is Love. High the lows ups and downs of it. This song has number of references to BTS..the 6 backups and with him is 7 like BTS.. wings fake Love. Couple of dance moves from their songs... The DNA reference. You can here Bruno Mars yes and could be but I think I saw Bang PD said it a bit homage to MJ. That's why there is so many moves like his and even JK sounds like it some. I've seen litterly tons of reactors mention how he sounds and dances like mj whicj he does but I've heard reference to Bruno Mars as well. This song and album is truly a master piece. Doesn't matter if he didn't write it. Most important is how it sung and that was JK all the way our Golden Maknae is a grown Man. Thanks for your reaction it was great
Lol, I keep writing but I love your reactions. It's both. It's a love song for everyone out there. The director used some visuals from Romeo and Juliet. You can enterpret some lyrics sexually for sure. But, also as usual, he adds his love for BTS and ARMY just for the people who would know to find it. He makes references to Fire, Run, DNA, ON, Black Swan, and Dynamite.. if you can pick them out. He's also on the stage center with six dancers (he is the center in BTS) and the girl (ARMY) is watching them perform. He didn't write it but he did want that general theme. And, definitely a lot of MJ! It's so damn good. I'm so proud of him for how well he did. Watch the iHeart and Fallon live performances. JK is a perfectionist. There are many songs that are love songs but also dedicated to their fans. BTS does that a lot!!
JK said the album is about love the different stages about a relationship that everyone has experienced from the start of dating, to the highs then the lows when things fall apart. There are 2 live performances [ 1 ] IHeartRadio with a live band, [ 2 ] On Jimmy Fallon. 💜🔥💙
I think Army really loves collabs but we are pretty vocal if they just don't work. Collabs I loved: Eryka Badu, Anderson Pak, Coldplay, Meg the Stallion, Lotto, Halsey. Collabs I could do without: Snoop 😭😭😭, Sia, Jack Harlow. And JK has said the entire album is about the ups and downs of a romantic relationship. This song is about romantic love. 💜
JK didn't write any of the songs, but he said he picked each song becsuse it struck him deep when he heard them. Yes you can deep dove with the lyrics still. He said that the woman respected ARMY to him, that we will always be together. You missed the first shout out, the Left and Right we control, the deep like DNA, the standing in the Fire, and of course the black wings...as you said , he had six dancers with him. Take ot as you like, but i feel he may not have written the song, but he was a genius in his forethought to pick this song that hit so many of the groups buttons, all in one. His love of MJ was also just right out there!! I believe MJ would have approved of this 👍 But, I'm just an old lady thats seen a whole lot of music, so this is just my take of it.😂😊 🫰💜💜💜
Love always your reactions to BTS ,JK's song's are soo good, All members album are good and amazing...thank you for your reaction, please react also to V's tiny desk concert live.
Jungkook is a GLOBAL POPSTAR! I don’t know your name, but the brother with the red headphones…..your facial expressions are on POINT with every beautiful thing Jungkook is doing! Love your reactions! 💜
I think this particular song is about the love and strength of BTS members with each other and army as well as more of intimate relationship with someone else. 💜
The Michael Jackson influence isn't "a little" here, I don't think...lol. It's pretty much OUT THERE. (Several classic MJ moves in the choreo.). Also, this song was written and produced by the same guy that did SEVEN with JK. He said that he recorded SEVEN the first day and Andrew Watt played him a few other songs he had and JK said he loved this one and would prepare it overnight and record it the next day. The next day tweaked SEVEN and recorded Standing Next to You. Understand that JK does NOT speak English fluently. He's working on it, but it's not easy for him to do - so learning the lyric pronunciations, understanding where to put inflections and emotion, etc. overnight...and then recording it one day? That's insane. For context, V shared on the SUCHWITA episode last week that it takes him THREE days to record a song. Also, for JK's songs, I'm not sure delving too deeply into the lyrics is so much the point since he didn't write them and specifically said ARMY shouldn't take them as autobiographical at all. He picked songs about love because it's a universal theme that everyone can relate to, and he hoped listeners would feel comfort from the songs.
He personally selected them, arranged them in order, and said on t.v. programmes that the album represents the golden stages of his life, which he does not want to lose. So there is a part of autobiography in it....
@@jerzymysiak Since JK himself said that ARMY should NOT take the songs autobiographically, I won't make that assumption. I believe it was in an article written by an ARMY for The Atlantic from her interview directly with JK, if I'm remembering the source correctly. Also, JK said that the album title represents the golden stages of his life. I don't believe he said that the actual SONGS do. He did arrange them in order, but only in the stages of A relationship - not HIS relationships.
The jimmy fallon performance is a must Personally i liked jh verse in 3d after few listen not everyone dislike his verse actually it's subjective The whole album is so good
I really love this song! I've had it stuck in my head for days now lol. For me colabs can be a hit or miss but I have no problems with them getting to work with artist they like. I really like their colabs with Coldplay, Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion, Steve Aoki, The Chainsmokers, & I'm sure I'm forgetting more that I liked. The only thing I really don't like is all these negative articles recently from western entertainment media criticizing JK for having colabs & attributing his success to the other artists but they would've found something else to criticize him for if not that, they don't like foreigners coming in dominating the charts or rather they don't like not having a piece of the profit pie that most artists signed to American labels provide. I've learned a lot just from being fans of these guys about the symbiotic relationship between Billboard, American record labels, & entertainment media or journalists and the environment they have cultivated. They don't like people who disrupt their system.
BTS's songs can be always interpreted in diff ways even if BTS has some particular meaning. As RM says: everyone adjusts the lyrics according to what they are or were experienced in their own live and it is fine.
you’ll notice in a lot of their solo work that they have 6 people with them in some way or other :’) jake’s bias crisis is happening in front of our eyes lol
Love the reaction! The whole album is quite diverse, different genres, and as others said, all songs are about love, from finding it to losing it. He also did 'Standing Next To You' live at iHeart radio (which is so so so good, a rock vibe with a live band) and he did it live on Jimmy Fallon with the dance crew (unreal performance). I hope you react to the live, too! Thanks for a great reaction!
4:55 i kinda get what you say about throw back album. To me album is like a great collection of pop styles, especially of male pop styles, from 80s till now. JK always loved pop, and here he just decided to try all pop genres he could 😆
Your reactions are very good! As a suggestion, it would be cool to watch the MVs of the 7 members of BTS to get a sense of the different individual styles and understand how they mix and interact with each other in the group. Here are some suggestions: Suga: Daechwita, Haegeum, Life Goes On RM: Lonely, Wild Flower, Still Life Jin: The Astronaut, Super Tuna V: Rainy Days, Show Dancing Jimin: Set me Free, Like a Crazy JHope: Arson, More About JK have you already watched it☺️
I'm a first time viewer of your channel, are one of you guys US Air Force? Because I saw the EOD flag with the badge and thought that was pretty cool coming from a fellow Air Force vet (medic) who also follows K-Pop closely (wasn't stationed in S. Korea, but nearly was!).
I hope you guys listen to all of the songs on the album. JK is planning to do a showcase on the 20th and perform all of the songs live. More than likely, it will be available for live viewing. Also, keep in mind that JK has been with the other members of BTS since he was 13 years old and he emulates them a lot. He didn't go quite as far as RM and have an album with 10 songs and every song a different genre, but he didn't stick to the same vibe for all of the songs, either. The album, listened to from beginning to end, tells the story of a relationship, so no matter what stage you are in, from the beginning to the end, after breaking up, you can relate to at least some of the songs.
Don't stress too much about lyrics here. Their English songs are mostly written by other people. JK mentioned that with this album he didn't have time to pen meaningful lyrics. So he focused on challenging his vocal skills instead.

@@bl00dFairygosh I just love this song😫
It also mentions Left and Right that he did with Charlie Puth. The Wings are a reference to Black Swan.
Discovering them is the greatest thing ive ever done in my life. Gosh i love them
I agree here.
She was inspired by Movie Romeo and Juliet where Leo DiCaprio was a Romeo. Even scenes are homage to the movie
There are 2 main reasons some ARMY dont like the collabs:

They want them to stay niche, because it makes those fans feel "cool" , think they are different because they listen to something outside the mainstream. Este era el nivel de musicalidad que muchos esperabamos de Jk, simplemente es la voz de oro.

Some of us understand they are his choice, but still dislike the verses. Harlow was so beneath JK it was sad.
This is a brave new world for him . On his solo journey away from the other 6 for the very first time in his life practically & BAM!! He slays it!😊
BTS Loves and respects Michael Jackson a lot, and every time they can in their videos they show their respect for Him, I have never seen that any group from the USA that shows as much Admiration for Michael Jackson as BTS does, they are our Angels

Yes. I agree. I thought the same too but now I realize everyone basically was inspired by MJ.
Jungkook said he chose the theme ofvlove because its universal, but that doesnt mean we should take the lyrics as autobiographical.
JK is JK baby! He is incredible! Prince of POP 💜

BTS does that a lot!!
also Left and Right
JK said the album is about love the different stages about a relationship that everyone has experienced from the start of dating, to the highs then the lows when things fall apart. There are 2 live performances [ 1 ] IHeartRadio with a live band, [ 2 ] On Jimmy Fallon. 💜🔥💙
I love your reactions, not exagerated but honest and fun. Thank you☺
Great singer great dancer this jungkook❤ they all are so talented with their own color and différent style .
Jk pulling MJ moves (Off The Wall era). With a drizzle of Justin Timberlake and sprinkle of Bruno Mars! Perfect dish for me!
I suggest that you watch the official mv choreography version which was just released by HYBE Labels. It shows more how Jkook pays homage to MJ.
I love Jack Harlow rap in his own music and 3 D song whith Jungkook is amazing. Standing next to you is another level 👌
I believe MJ would have approved of this 👍
But, I'm just an old lady thats seen a whole lot of music, so this is just my take of it.😂😊
🫰💜💜💜
If you look closely some of the dance moves and poses he does are call backs to other bts choreo and I love jk for that 💜
It was an homage to MJ
Like the moves in Dynamite
Love always your reactions to BTS ,JK's song's are soo good, All members album are good and amazing...thank you for your reaction, please react also to V's tiny desk concert live.
Jungkook is a GLOBAL POPSTAR! I don’t know your name, but the brother with the red headphones…..your facial expressions are on POINT with every beautiful thing Jungkook is doing! Love your reactions! 💜
I think this particular song is about the love and strength of BTS members with each other and army as well as more of intimate relationship with someone else. 💜
You can get an after glow after massive success/ glow up.. Double meaning, they shows 7 limo going into the building
all the songs in this album are about love
Gracias por la reacción a Standing Next to You, grande artista y con un gran talento, congratulazioni Jk.
The jimmy fallon performance is a must
Personally i liked jh verse in 3d after few listen not everyone dislike his verse actually it's subjective
The whole album is so good
The producer says this video is supposedly like a Romeo and Juliet theme.
You guys should really checkout the album 'Golden'
Already released
Everything has more than one meaning
its all about the afterglow to me in this song.
oh, I love it
It’s a love song- emotions & physical. I think he said the album covers the whole experience of a relationship
Borahae! 💜💜💜
Next " standing next to you LIVE BAND PERFORMANCES" 😉😉🙏
As RM says: everyone adjusts the lyrics according to what they are or were experienced in their own live and it is fine.
you’ll notice in a lot of their solo work that they have 6 people with them in some way or other :’)
jake’s bias crisis is happening in front of our eyes lol
Thank youfor your reaction to JUNGKOOK💜
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 MJ would have been so proud.
Nostalgic vibes 💯
👏👏👏👏👏👏💜💜💜💜🇦🇷 Argentina
Great reaction☺️ You should definitely check out his live performance at Jimmy Fallon!
It’s fire🔥
You need to watch the performance video that just came out today! Beautiful!!
Army in the area 🙋🏻♀️🥰💜🇧🇷
Love the reaction! The whole album is quite diverse, different genres, and as others said, all songs are about love, from finding it to losing it. He also did 'Standing Next To You' live at iHeart radio (which is so so so good, a rock vibe with a live band) and he did it live on Jimmy Fallon with the dance crew (unreal performance). I hope you react to the live, too! Thanks for a great reaction!
After glow the fame
This song reminds me of MJ's Smooth Criminal.
The song is about love just like seven and 3d, not about anything else, golden is jk solo album & he wanna show all about him and the theme is love 😁
4:55 i kinda get what you say about throw back album. To me album is like a great collection of pop styles, especially of male pop styles, from 80s till now. JK always loved pop, and here he just decided to try all pop genres he could 😆
IMO this is one song you don’t need to analyze the lyrics 😊 This song is to showcase his vocals and performance. Just bask in all that is JK!
Iluvmybiasjk💜💜💜💜💜💜
Your reactions are very good! As a suggestion, it would be cool to watch the MVs of the 7 members of BTS to get a sense of the different individual styles and understand how they mix and interact with each other in the group.
Here are some suggestions:
Suga: Daechwita, Haegeum, Life Goes On
RM: Lonely, Wild Flower, Still Life
Jin: The Astronaut, Super Tuna
V: Rainy Days, Show Dancing
Jimin: Set me Free, Like a Crazy
JHope: Arson, More
About JK have you already watched it☺️
the song is def hommage to MJ
This whole reaction was "IS IT SEX OR FRIENDSHIP?" 😭😭💀💀💀💀😭😭
JK is our GLOBAL POP STAR😭😭😭he wanna be pop star and now he did it😭😭😭😭im super proud😭😭💜
The choreography version shows off the dance a little more and helps you focus on the song with less distractions, if you guys are interested!
One of us was in the Navy and the other is EOD in the marines
This song OMG = song of René and Angela : I love you more
