    It's tough enough to hang with a super heavyweight like Georgia over 60 minutes. But, to hang tough for eight overtime periods requires a serious commitment. Georgia Tech played their hearts out tonight. It's just a shame that someone had to lose.

With age we all appreciate good competition more and usually have empathy for others. The longer you been around, the more you've lost. We all know that pain. Great season to both programs.

It may not be much solace for Tech fans but what I saw from Tech was what I've seen from Tech since Key became HC, and not too different from Kirby Smart teams. You're going to be in a street fight. Georgia Tech gave them all they could handle. I think the transfer portal is becoming the great equalizer in college football. These kids don't have to ride the bench anymore as backups.
    Coaches loved having deep benches because not only do they help when your starters go down, but you don't have to face them on other teams either.
    Georgia and Alabama and Clemson have been getting rocked. The SEC is more spread out. There are teams out there who are seriously good enough to beat anyone but have some losses like Vandy, Georgia Tech, Colorado, and Boise St.
    College football is wide open with all these upstarts. No school is safe.
    As an ASU fan, I love how the conferences have changed, as well as how transfers have made it possible to put together good teams if you have solid coaches and no 5-stars.

      It's going to be good until boosters get tired of paying $10 million for rosters without any guarantee of them staying beyond 1 year. Then they're going to push for "contracts"

    • @jcelldogs
      @jcelldogs Месяц назад +6

      I think ultimately saban was the biggest cheater in cfb. The nil and transfer portal ultimately ended his career because he couldn't cheat and pay under the table. But like u said, bama had 5 stars 3 and four deep on the roster and you ultimately had bench rider 5 star players for 2 years and maybe got to sniff the field one year and then off to the nfl.
      Guys can go to other schools now and get the LEGAL bag of money and start instantly. Ole Nicky didn't like the transfer portal either because no longer did a kid have to take the bag and be stuck on the team.
      Does it cause problems with the fan base as these guys are yearly free agents? Definitely, but that's what it is now.
      Notice how fast saban left after they came out with nil. He stayed 3 years because it took time for the rosters to start to level out and he knew it was game over. He couldn't tarnish all those nattys and undefeated seasons by putting up 3 and 4 loss seasons which would be the norm now anyways. The top teams always has like 0 or 1 loss, but now your going to see teams in the top 12 with 2 and 3 or even 4 in a few years. Just like the nfl. A four loss season is a good year.

You had heated rivals...one a dynasty of current times and the other a dynasty from the distant past...located less than 75 miles from each other. There were no fights. There were no incidents of bottle throwing from the crowd. Both teams played their asses off and both could walk off the field knowing they gave everything they had.
