This is an excellent and very informative video. Thanks for taking the time to post and educate us on typical base oil pressures from the low pressure oil pump (LPOP) on the 6.0L. Great stuff!
Yes i took it off fills up good and the flush valve on the bottom holds it in.i have ipr fitting tool to test for leaks.the dip stick shows good oil level.i goto keep going in more.
Question, I just pulled my 6.0 down, total rebuild. Back in the truck now it fired off after about 6 or 7 attempts to start it. Oil rail pressure is about 700 psi but the message center in the dash say low oil pressure. Could that just be from air in the system or do I have an issue ? Front cover and low pressure pump were in good shape and were reused. 112k on it when tore down.
Keep in mind there are two oil pressures on the 60 there’s a low pressure oil pump switch that either is on or off. That is to say that it either send a signal that pressure is OK or it’s not OK and throws a code. The other oil pressure is from the high-pressure oil pump.pressure is probably the one you’re monitoring and should always be above 500 psi for proper operation.
@@landonhillyard it was a faulty sensor. Low pressure side. Pulled the sensor and put a guage on it, 60psi at idle. 80 at 2k rpm. The truck ran and idled fine, which I knew it wouldn't do if it didn't have oil pressure. Especially since I had 700psi from the hpop at idle.
I have 6.0 no start when cold i got scan gauge get sync.0 icp when cranking my ipr says 14.8 then jumps to 85.but get no icp when cranking the gauge never moves in the cluster.my FICM says 38 to 45 max.on cranking sometimes i get 45 before i crank..
edward garcia verify you have base oil pressure by removing oil filter cap go see if it fills up within 10 seconds.. if it does then you probably have a high pressure oil concern..
Yea what I did so far corrected the aftermarket filters and caps for fuel and oil rebuilt the ficm just the power board myself then changed go plugs and wires upgraded my turbo pipes she starts right up now beautiful idle tons of power.my opinion it was the aftermarket filters for the oil and the ficm.
I learned a lot from my 6.0 by taking it all apart to reassembling it haven’t got to deep into the engine but iam sure now I can rebuild it if I did just need the torque specs for the inner components.but anything on top of the engine block I had removed lol trial and error.i now own all the tools to test a no start from oil pressure test device to fuel pressure test ficm reader just inexpensive tools. For a average mechanic
So 2-3 years did anyone find out where he hooked into to get base oil pressure.. lol.. I love 3 out of 4 of my 6.0... but wife truck will blow the passenger stand pipe middle o ring ever 3 month.. replaced it sunday and was blow out again. it lasted 2 days.. just at a lost on her truck.. any one help. Or seen this before. Not our first time we have tried all the tricks even oil rail installing stand pipe together. Changed oil rail. Oil everything. Lol
A year late, but stand pipes in the past year have been notorious for blowing. Must be a new supplier. Some I know are now just running the outdated stand pipes with 10mm hex with no issues
Where did you hook the pressure gauge up to get those readings ?
Hey primo , where do you hook up pressure gauge to get those
Where do you tap in the gauge?

Spot on brother
So where are you plugging the gauge into?
not sure if any other port but it can be done at engine oil pressure sensor
The dog rounded the professionalism of this video lol
Where’d you hook the gauge up to for low pressure oil pressure?
What about the oil pressure relief valve
Great information excellent video
Heck ya..good video...keep it coming.
Ey Benito my 03 f250 6.0 starts only with a spray of starting fluid and shows oil pressure only when accelerated.. What do you think the problem is?
Did a air test no leaks in the engine .how can you check if ipr is good

Where do you hook the gauge to?
Good question
Do you think low oil level would cause 2004 f450 to die coming back down from 3000 rpm on idle.
Bought the fitting that goes in the ipr port and put shop air in the engine.got a reading on my icp.but. with the ipr wont show icp
What happen if your inside oil pressure gauge doesn't show anything at cranking
Bad low pressure pump

Your ficm is toast
And your ipr readings indicate a high pressure oil leak
Yea what I did so far corrected the aftermarket filters and caps for fuel and oil rebuilt the ficm just the power board myself then changed go plugs and wires upgraded my turbo pipes she starts right up now beautiful idle tons of power.my opinion it was the aftermarket filters for the oil and the ficm.

Speaking of oil, I just bought a 6.0. What's a good oil besides Ford's oil?
locobrown19 schaeffers oil is a good one I recommend
locobrown19 with some rev x oil treatment
Ok, thanks
locobrown19 Schaefer oil for sure!!
Thanks for the video that's good info Benito I'm working on getting my truck in there soon
Thank you so much!! Not a problem we’re always willing to help!!!!
