Hi Brad! I'm a really big fan of yours and I just wanted to thank you for going so in depth about the beat. I used this in my solo at our school's jazz concert in the song "Get It On". The beat was a big hit and everyone loved, so thanks! Just wanted to share my appreciation!
Damn, I've been playing it wrong all the time. Even in my drum cover -.-'.. well, thanks for the new 'Privates with Brad' so I can finally play this thing right! It's a really creative beat.
I found an alternate sticking pattern that helped me a bit... after the 32nd hh strikes - rack tom with right stick followed by snare with right stick , then HH left stick, floor tom right stick, snare left stick, cymbal right stick.... keeps from having to go from HH all the way to floor tom with right stick on 16th note..... not that it's impossible... obviously.... just felt easier to me and thought I'd share
Thank you so much for this. Learned the beat yesterday, and now I have hundreds of attractive women throwing money at me. Must be what it's like for you every day.
yeah maybe i express myself a little bit complicated. im not a native speaker all i want to say is that he plays in 4/4... so the note values are 8ths and 16ths.
the note value depends on the measure, not the speed. and when he counts in like he does in the video, the values are 8ths and 16ths. but hey.. its not that important. i like this creative drumming ;)
i see....i was always taught that the not value depends on the tempo and the relation to the quarter note. No matter what signature he is in the value is still the same in relation to the tempo. And then of course there is cut time, half time, etc. But hey music starts getting really robotic if all we worry about is signatures and note values
It only feels like 8ths and 16ths because of the speed he is playing in this video ... but if you count "1 - 2 - 3 -4" where the first snare strike falls on the 2 you will realize he is actually playing 16ths and 32nds just as he said
i don't even play drums and, not only do i love your cover videos, i even love the instructional videos. they're all just so swaggingly bosstastic.

Dude, you are the MAN! I was able to play this within 10 minutes after watching the vid, thanks for making it so simple.

The highlighting of the drums your hitting surprisingly helped a lot.
This is quickly becoming my favorite channel on RUclips. I'm pretty sure I could say that even if I didn't play drums.
"Cobus method is very expensive and this video is free" I love all the tags. :)
I think it's really cool how you explained this. Real cool
nice! those are some cool drums, turning purple and all!
Over 10 years later I STILL play this most times I sit down at the kit, haha.
Fan Français inconditionnel !!! Plus de (more) cover drum please comme Billy Joël et Queen of the stone edge !!!!
Thats the best intro ever......
Damn, I've been playing it wrong all the time. Even in my drum cover -.-'.. well, thanks for the new 'Privates with Brad' so I can finally play this thing right! It's a really creative beat.
omg, your toms are making me feel tingly inside.
Learned this in about 10mins thanks Brad!
Im going to buy a robe like that haha. That would make me feel so much more confident when Im playing drums haha

You are brilliant.
You explain very well
Love this beat!!
anybody else watching brads videos over and over again, because theyre full of swag, to get him some more views?
this is fantastic!!
LMFAO I love how the drums light up pink like some cheesy 70's video haha
@AdventureDrums you're awesome.
A how to video, where I actually learn how to play the song! Awesome!!
I would pay for a full song based of the intro it's addicting
awwww damn. If I knew this vid would come out, I wouldnt have learned it already...
I miss adventure drums. And now that I'm in the future, I realize that dude sounds like Chris Pratt. Or does Chris Pratt sound like this dude?
Yeppp, I definitely am. The total length of the groove is two measures correct? If that is the case, then there is no way it is 32nds.
The intro song is amazing
Love the tag "Cobus method is very expensive and this video's free doggy"
great video! can you show us how you do 0:47 - 0:49 and the part from 0:59 - 1:02.
thanks
*plays drum beat in class*
Not a single girl was unimpressed that day. Thank you Brad.

It's reallllly advanced!

Yay for linear drumming!
Great share
Hey stupids.....

Thank you so much for this. Learned the beat yesterday, and now I have hundreds of attractive women throwing money at me. Must be what it's like for you every day.
Brad, why don't you say that for do all the exercise we have to do the famous "bucket a fish"?. Anyway I got it!
Easily one of the sickest linear beats ever
I really like the intro soudtrackk LOL
@wakerkid08 probably two weeks. he's awesome.
yeah maybe i express myself a little bit complicated. im not a native speaker
all i want to say is that he plays in 4/4... so the note values are 8ths and 16ths.
I love how he just starts "Hey stupids.." lol
What are the cymbals used in this clip?
Meinl Byzance (hats, crash, ride) and Paiste Rude (china)
I think you mean consistently 8ths through the groove, then 16ths on the hi-hat?
I was more confused bout the Kanye lyric "tell me whats next, alien sex".
what are these beats called?
the note value depends on the measure, not the speed. and when he counts in like he does in the video, the values are 8ths and 16ths.
but hey.. its not that important. i like this creative drumming ;)
haha love the intro
" Hi stupids" !!!
If Napoleon Dynamite were a drummer.
i see....i was always taught that the not value depends on the tempo and the relation to the quarter note. No matter what signature he is in the value is still the same in relation to the tempo. And then of course there is cut time, half time, etc. But hey music starts getting really robotic if all we worry about is signatures and note values
