@@brettclurdrums I am as impressed with your video “subdivisions “as much as the drew groove You have an awesome drum channel my friend, love your vid‘s
Man this was my first drum video ever when I started on drumset. I didn't understand (back then) what back beat means. Time flys and this groove it's awesome. Thanks for this!!
thanks for this awesome groove! For me, the drum department is one of the greatest channel on RUclips. i've picked up about 3 lick/fill from here. Thank again!
Dude, if you put this up against any metal drummer, you'd win. Those ghost notes are utilized in a very unique, yet extremely technical way, and your playing is mind-blowing. God, I just can't get over it!
You guys are awesome thanks so much for putting some advanced stuff on youtube. I havent been able to find any other instructional videos to help out with stuff like this. Thanks so much!
Im really close with this one (playing it slowly though), can't get that second part down though. Very tricky but thanks for showing us this awesome groove. Gonna go practice now.
thank you for this lesson!! I remember watching this as a young newbie drummer and just feeling so overwhelmed that I couldn’t play it I wanted to quit (I’m sure you all know what I mean). Now with more than a decade of drumming experience I encountered this again thanks to the Youthbe algorithm and I can confidently say I’m now ready to welcome this beat in my life. Actually could’ve played this 2-3 years in but forgot about it so 😅 I’ll just make this my go-to warm up/sound check beat 🥁
this groove is acually pretty easy to learn when you write it down... and writing it down really was the hardest part.. it took me a good 15 or 20 minutes but i recommend it
you remind me of the old days where all the drummers would pack in to the drum room in band and the freakin prodigy kid would show us somethin tight and we all knew we'd never get it....but thats sick man
I'd pay for toontrack midi loops for EZDrummer made by you just so I could see them mapped out in front of me. Just listening to this is giving me ideas for writing drums so I imagine that seeing it and breaking it apart would blow my mind. I guess I could just listen to it infinity times.
dude !!am from jamaica and !!!! i think you guys are the best!!!!!!!!! ever i mean what are you guys studying man!!!seriously i hope to meet you guys some day man!!!
@DrockDrummer1 ok here goes again then lol, the opening fill is an 8 note pattern made famous by jerome flood LKRL KRLK he plays that twice leading into the main groove which is rlr (open hi hat on the last r)he plays that twice then LlrRlrRllkkrlkkrLlrRlrRllkkrlkrlkrLlrRlrRllkkrlkkrLkrlkrlk mostly played between snare and hats apart from the last rlk rlk rlk which is split between rack tom snare and floor tom peace:)
WOW! my head came so close to exploding just now. Im really glad i stumbled on to this video. i love the groove, So tasty. i dont think im gonna be able to play it just from watching this video..ive been trying it with sticks and a pad at my computer desk and i only get so far before my brain and my hands start tripping all over eachother. i have to see this written out. can you transcribe it and post it on here some how so i can see it? if not thanks anyway ill keep workin it
yoo dude. i really dig ur style and groove ideas. u gotta make more videos cuz im always comin back to check to see if u got more but i always see the same 6. theyre all great though. if u can , should tab some out. aight bro peace
I really love the grooves you guys play. Very 'Gospel Chops' but I find your playing style is very 'clean.' It's really good, mine is a bit messy so your videos help me to tidy up my style to make each note clearer. :) Thanks.
@soldierside365 Won't take a year man! You can learn this thing in just a few weeks! I'm not sure if this would work on the bell of the ride. In the second half of the groove, you have to move your left hand to the high hat a few times. And given the speed at which you need to play this, you wouldn't realistically be able to move your hand to the high hat and back to the bell and maintain accuracy. Maybe if someone had a Zil-Bell? lol
15 years later I still miss drew from the drum department
I haven't been able to stop thinking about this beat for 5+ years now
Dude, same! hahaha
same. I still practice it to this day as a warm up.
Don’t we all Darren
Me too!!

@snoozymoo
At its best! Linear just means that every note is by itself. All of the notes are played in a "line" just one at a time.
I saw this a couple of years back and forgot the name...I'm so glad I found it now! Favorite!! Nice stuff!
very nice groove. very cool that you break it down for us. it makes transcribing much much easier. thanks so much.
