I want to thank you Paul for explaining the use of bot in Tiletum. Thanks again !

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for this video, great job 👍
I think there is a mistake at 2:17:00. You can't use a contract point to take a ressource. You can take a contract point to exchange a ressource.

1:44:58 I don't think that's a "move your merchant anywhere" action. I think it's just move your merchant one space. Move your merchant anywhere is incredibly powerful and normally costs a crest and 5 food.

      I think Alex is right.
You make the same mistake at 2:08:00 with your merchant et your architect (move 1 space, not anywhere).

Hello, at 2:00:00 you awarded yourself and the bot 27 points each but I think it should have been 18 points as you only had two “sets” of crests and contracts. The rule on page 28 states “points for each “set” of 1 contract and 1 crest…regardless, Great playthrough! Really enjoying this one!

I think Paul receives 27 points because he has three crests on his player board (two in his houses and one in his storehouse) and three fulfilled contracts as well (for a total of three sets). The Cardinalbot, as per p. 4 in the Solo Rulebook, only counts the ACTIVE crests on its player board (i.e.,the ones in the houses), but not the crests in its supply. It seems the Cardinalbot should've scored 18 points then for only two sets of crests and fulfilled contracts.

10:08 Says it on Page 3, part 7.
Leave two of the unused dice (color doesn’t matter)
out, and place them near the Cardinalbot’s Player
board; these will be referred to as the “Cardinalbot
dice,” and they are never mixed with the ten dice in
    play.
You put 2 of each coulored die in the bag (10 total, 2 of each colour) DONE. The cardinalbot uses 2 dice that were not placed in the bag. Pretty easy to understand. Dice in the bag = being used.

Thanks for doing this! I was curious about the way the bot worked, and it did seem very clever but like you I would never choose to play with a complex bot. The solo mode in AFfO is about my limit on automa 🙂

Question: would the solo become a lot easier if I would write an app for it?

Thanks for the stream, although you did seem to struggle with the AI on this one. I'm quite happy to play a complex bot, but not just for the sake of making it complex. I can play Golem, Terracotta ARmy, TMB solo 4-handed, and Root with 3 bots, so should be able to manage this one. I do feel like the automa from Automa Factory seem to be missing something, but they do generally replicate interactions, whereas David Turczi's modes do try to mimmick the human player as much as possible, although the cardinal does seem to need to cheat quite a bit in order to streamline the decision space. I've decided to buy this (should come next week), just for solo play.

You can play Terracotta Army solo? I sold that game off because I couldn't understand the solo rules at all. It was horrific. Tiletum is far easier to understand than TA. I even talked to David Turczi about it, and he said that TA was rushed and he couldn't put in enough testing.

Hey Paul! Where do you think Tiletum ranks for you in the T series?

Not sure. A good question for one of my live Q&A's though.

I played this solo 3 times, and I will never play it again. Even in the third time, I still had to check the rulebook over and over again. If that happens, it means the solo mode is not good. It is terrible IMHO, and I play solo a lot. For instance, just played a solo game of Wayfarers of the South Tigris, which is a more complicated game the Tiletum, but the solo experience was smooth, easy to understand and manage, and very fun.

I would be the same. But I know people who love this solo mode and think it flows easily (not me! :) )

@@gobot90 It's an enigma. I recently played his solo for Marrakesh, and again, very confusing with so many loose ends.

    • @gobot90

@@shaifalayYup its the loose ends that are esp maddening. And compared to the bot for, say, Dune Imperium, a game that really isnt that much simpler at the end of the day but is such a breeze to run and always gets you basically the same results as the Cardinalbot-a competitor who is always a few points ahead or behind you.
The one thing I will say in his defense is that area control/area movement must be especially difficult to design a bot for- Im left equally befuddled when I try and play Scythe against the Automa, whose byzantine movement protocols get you, once again, a bot who pretty much is always just ahead of you or just behind you in scoring…and yet takes more than half of the time spent playing.

    • @shaifalay

@@gobot90 The Scythe automa is a great example on how to do it correctly. With the Scythekick app is even more simple. In general, the Automa factory knows how to do great automas.
