Andy Savage. ..thank you for this video...just want to say I arrived in Derby in the winter of 1961with my mum from India...My dad was already here from 1957...derby was a beautiful place and has a very special in my heart lots of memories...my husband and I also ran the baseball fishbar ..which was on the corner of Reeves Road and Cambridge Street from 1979 to 1983 ...great memories. ..thank you again
Hi Andy, thanks for the video of the area, I spent a few hours in the area during the Baseball Days, watching Derby play, it held a few memories I can tell you, sometime I must get back to Derby and visit Pride Park I have only seen it on TV.
Yes Cambridge street has not really changed one bit. There are still a few houses around the ground area that have not taken the window grills of yet !!!
They did. Those streets used to be COBBLED, when I first walked down them. OK relative is a relative term. The streets in worst condition, I think they just laid tarmac straight on top of the cobbles.
I think he BBG was getting a bit dated and not suitable for modern footy, the land at Pride park was a better option and had good transport links. Also its when they were promoted to the Premiership league
@@comedyhunter yh but with the history there, surely with some investment could have remained there. I live close to the BBG, whenever I drive past I feel a sadness in the heart.
It's like the ocean. You now it's still there. Just close your eyes. you can see, hear & smell it. Passing the Blue Peter on the way in, starting to get excited then. Cobbled streets - later badly paved over. House down the left side of Cambridge street somewhere with a woman selling programs out her front window. Listening to Sports Report on the way home, falling off high curbs, a lad in a crowd of adults. It's still there.
'NOTTS' Forest? Sure you're a real supporter? ANYBODY from Nottingham & the East Midlands knows it's Nottingham Forest or just Forest , & it's Notts County...

there was something great walking down those streets to the bbg matchdays!
Thinking of all the history and good times at the BBG makes this video very depressing.....

Yes you can never take away the memories for all who spent their Saturdays here.
For a relatively new housing estate, you would've thought they would have done the roads aswell! The condition of them look very dilapdated.

One of the properties should surely be called ‘Hectors House’!
some of those roads need a major resurface!!
I noticed there is a park area by baseball drive (been there myself) (minute 3.40) was that part of the stadium or is it all houses?
That bit was not originally there its a new park
The road surface is as bad as the playing surface use to be at the Baseball Ground.
What about that time in April 1977 when they had to paint the lines on during a match with Man City LOL, surely not that bad !
Out of curiosity why did Derby move out of the BBG?

@@MHM-og6qj BBG Closed due to health and safety. Mostly made of wood. FIRE HAZARD. So sad. I lived so close for many years.

Great stuff
I love how none of these videos have anything to do with comedy
But this was still interesting
Very sad... like your old school being knocked down.
The clough story must piss you, you had him he left and whent on to do his magic where? Your enemy hurtful but part of football tapestry good luck♥️⚽
IT was Clough & Taylor.
They've only just built them and already the roads are shit.
