Hi, I have F11 2012 with CIC, combox and extended BT. Does I need to connect to the oem mic in the roof ? (don't want to remove all :p) or will it be able to take it from the HU ? Thanks a lot for your videos !
Hello, the microphone is necessary for some MMI functionalities, so despite the fact that the process is not necessary, we highly recommend to plug connector from our PnP harness to OEM microphone, as it is not possible to take this signal from head unit, due to design of the head unit.
I thought of a few questions while watching the video:
What is the purpose of the wifi antenna in MMI Prime?
Does the device communicate with the phone only via USB cable or also wirelessly?
Does MMI Prime also support the smaller 10.25 BMW 5 screens (not the 12.3-inch ones)?
The MMI Prime allows wired and wireless connection, for this second the WiFi antenna is needed as your phone will connect through WiFi with the MMI. Yes, the MMI is compatible with 6.5”, 8.8” and 10.2” screens.
In my BMW f10, I only have AUX in the external devices menu so that "AUX front" shown in that video is something coming after connecting the device?
Can you send your car's VIN to our support team? Your car might be equipped with a different head unit type, thus there will be no AUX connector on the MMI harness.

What purpose does plugging in the aux serve? I have seen others do it without plugging in the aux
When we are talking about the MMI retrofit in BMWs with CIC head unit the aux connection ensures the audio signal between head unit and MMI. This way you can play music through the device or hear notifications from the BMW audio system. The BMWs which have never type of head units, have different architecture, thus this connection is not necessary there.

Our MMI Prime supports both CarPlay and Android Auto functionality + is integrated with Rear View Camera (MMI).

Hi, HUD works after the MMI installation. Please be advised that the prompts (such as currently playing songs or Navigation Prompts) will not be shown on the head up display.

Can you still switch off the screen completely?
Yes, if you wish to do that. You can do that via the OEM iDrive settings.

How many hours is the installation ?
It depends whether you want to DIY or add it with our installers, but the average time is 3 hours.
Do you really have to remove A pillar and connect the microphone this way? Can I just hide it near the center console?
Yes, you do have to, because the microphone is in the head liner.
I have an m5 f10 2013 it already has a mic do i have to install your mic?

Ok… none of the wires are coming off “as easily as shown”. I am bleeding and frustrated after 1 hour … how tf do I I remove the wires ugh

Ha Ha welcome to BMW. I will say its the same for many cars too.
Any plug that hasn't been removed in years are usually very hard to pull out first time. Watching videos and then pulling out cables always look easy until you try it yourself for the first time. I do remember doing speaker replacement as first retrofit and could never unplug some connectors. It gets easy after when you get into the rhythm.

THAT is a LOT to go thru for a damn camera that SHOULD be standard!!!! And its a pain in the ASS just because BMW wanted to make it that way, anther reason to say FUCK BMW!!
for some people it can be tough, but if you want to install the camera, then it's the only way. BMW's fault haha
