    February 2018 I went down to Wallymart to get some Mach 3 cartridges. I cringed when I saw the price so I picked up a Vanderhagen safety razor because the razor blades were $2.50 for a pack of 5. I got home and shaved not knowing what I was doing shaved like I usually do with a Gilette cartridge. Cut myself horribly so I decided to look up how to shave on RUclips and your video was one of the ones I watched. Thx bro I learned alot and actually enjoy shaving now.

    I love a proper wet shave and really love a single edge razor. This one is great but it is not a patch on my Above The Tie which costs more to buy but the Feather blades give 15 good shaves and two passes are enough to give a very smooth shave without any need for touching up. It is the closest shave that I have had apart from a shavette shave at a barber in Turkey which was really smooth.
    I really love this video and agree with everything he said. Good but not perfect shave and the blades do not last for more than 2 or 3 shaves,

    I almost bought the OneBlade But Their blades are coated with Teflon and I refuse to use Teflon Coated Blades. So I bought the leaf and I use a feather for the bottom most aggressive setting and a Gillette Nacet on mildest setting the top, I get a very Nice and close shave this way and I almost just have to do 1 Pass only. For my all my DE razors I use Feather, Gillette nacets, Gillette 7'O clock Yellow, and Other stainless blades, I prefer Stainless blades that way I have the sharpest blade and only need 1-2 passes. I always research my blades and I Never use Teflon because of health concerns, same for everyday life NO Teflon!.

    That seems to be the general consensus with the Feather FHS-10 blades. 2 shaves and they're done. I use them occasionally with a couple of my later vintage Valet Autostrop razors which were discontinued in the 1940's. The Feather FHS-10 blades were made to fit the later Valet Autostrop razor models that have a proprietary pin layout that would match up with the cutouts in the proprietary blade. The original vintage Autostrop blades with the cutouts spelled VELET.
    I love the Autostrops but earlier models don't have that proprietary gimmick, although you can just slide in a FHS-10 in the older Autostrops, they accept an easily modified modern GEM SE blade (despined and clipped at the top corners) The good old USA made GEM Stainless Steel PTFE coated blades are just as sharp but last a whole lot longer than the Feather FHS-10. I can get up to 20 shaves!

    Lol you referenced GEM razor pejoratively when in actuality GEM is the superior razor for unequivocally countless reasons; one being it was actually made in good ol us of a in the olden days of yore before safety razors became massed produced in the 3rd world countries; I’m 43 and just invested in the old fashioned GEM shaving world. I also use a multitude of double edge razors as well as cartridge systems but I’ve always felt I was missing something forever lost in oblivion; thus, the GEM razor came into the picture

    I’ve used the OB v1. Metal version.
    I don’t like the Feather blade.
    For me it’s either to sharp the first time I use them and than to dull on the second shave.
    I do get nicks from time to time, maybe less than others type of razors.
    I use the GEM blade in the OB and then it exactly the suitable sharpness for me, not to sharp and the blade lasts a lot longer and almost no nicks.
    It’s one of my favorite razors.

    • @SinatraLennon
      @SinatraLennon  5 лет назад

      So the Gems do work?!

    • @edyartzi
      @edyartzi 5 лет назад

      In OB V1 your have to remove the aluminium.
      In OB later versions it is a little more complicated but in my opinion the GEM is a much better blade and certainly more affordable

    I got the Core model for free from the One Blade people because I subscribe to financial research from One Blade's parent company. I love the razor. I've cut the cost of replacement blades by watching for specials and I've managed to get my blades for 50% off every time I've ordered usually at the end of the year or around Christmas. So, it's been a winner for me.

    You can probably de-spine a regular GEM blade and use it instead of using the proprietary blades, as long as both blades are the same size (which I think they are). It's quick/easy to do and the stainless steel GEM blades shave very well and are much cheaper and last for more shaves.

    I have a One Blade razor and have had excellent results with it. Mine is the black bakelite version with the steel rod in the shaft. If you moisturize first with water and Proraso pre-shave, followed by a slick shaving soap, it works well. I managed to get three shaves (9+ total passes) before I need to change the blade. I also spray dry silicone on the edge, which actually improves it a bit. But yes, at about $.90 per blade, I use this for special occasions. I also have two Supply razors, which use non proprietary injectors, and have great luck with them. Maybe you could demo one of those. Supply is also an Austin-based company, and you may have demonstrated those already. Great video!!

  • @edyartzi
    @edyartzi 4 года назад

    They should have made the razor around the GEM blade.
    It’s possible to use the GEM blade in the OB razor. There are video with instructions on RUclips on how to do it.
    In my opinion the GEM blades are much superior to the Feather proprietary OB blades.
    I have one in my OB razor that I used for 10 times and still able to give a good shave.
    I highly recommend the Hybrid razor because of the metal head.
    It’s expensive but it will last a lifetime.
    This razor is definitely on a different league.
    It’s an exceptional well designed razor.
