I have been dealing with this for the last 6 months. It has done it at least 11 times during our travels. Arrowhead Mercedes in Peoria AZ have had it in the shop for a total of 6 weeks and can not get it to replicate so they won't do anything. I have a 2018 sprinter under a 2019 Forrester River Motorhome. I have been in contact with a dealer in Loveland CO and they said they would be glad to fix it. There is also a Tech in New Jersey who will be glad to fix it. Arrowhead Mercedes in Peoria are just not willing to deal with it. As I understand it there is a plate in the transmission that basically does not tell the engine it is in park. I guess I will have to drive the 14 hrs to CO and get it fixed.

Hi Robert, we're having the same problem here. Dealer can't duplicate the problem. So what was the problem with yours?

I have the same problem with my 2019 Dynamax Isata 3 with 2017 Mercedes Sprinter 3500. I had my RV at dealership for 3 days and could not duplicate intermittent start issue. I picked up RV drove it home and guess what. RV would not start when drove 24 miles home and turned off then tried to start. Would not start until set for approximately 25 to 30 Minutes then started. Dealership says only way they can fix is to duplicate the intermittent starting issue. I guess it will be a few more trips to dealership so they can duplicate.

In a case like this you should disconnect the battery for a minute or two. After that try to start. Sometimes glitches happens in the communication between key/engnition switch and the immobilizer of the vehicle. By disconnecting the battery you reset everything. To disconnect the battery on the Sprinter is very simple, the connection is to the right of the gas pedal under the dashboard. Press on the top of the connector and pull the cable off the pin.

@@Dima-jq3mj no. Mercedes vehicles have these problems. But that is the least thing that can fix it.

Hello all , The problem was a "Safety neutral switch" hope this was helpful

I've offered similar solutions to Mercedes Benz of Oxnard. They refuse to replace anything.

has the problem returned? I had the dealer change the safety neutral switch, and it solved it for 6 months, and now the problem is back.

The first thing you do, is make sure you are in Park & your foot is on the brake. It's in Park, but I can't see your foot very well. It doesn't look like your right foot is on the brake, but maybe your left is. If this is correct, try a second key. It may have a bad key. If the keys are good, they need to look at the fault codes & see if the system is recognizing the key. Or there may be a problem with the shift lock cable. You put your foot on the brake, but the shift gate doesn't know it. This problem is not hard to fix. Mercedes has a logic tree to diagnose the problem. You just don't have a competent mechanic.

yes... I noticed his foot is not on the brake pedal. you can see the right foot and the pedal... But I do know I have a customer with the same issue. He is just probably frustrated at this time.

It is a P and not a D. D would be all the way down towards the driver.
