Many years ago I suggested this to a good friend. She had a closet that they really weren't using , just off of their living room. It just had some books and not much else in it. She took my advice, and it worked out perfectly. She could work, and still be able to be involved with her family, without being cooped up in a separate room, and close it up when not in use. tfs 💗

really great use of a closet. I am looking forward to the days when I can downsize from a full study to just a desk nook (being a teacher I still need a full wall of materials and books and I don’t want that in my living or sleeping area

OMG, I have 8 of those plastic drawers! I have them in a bookcase behind my desk, they replace a drawer cart I had that was scratching up the floor, and they are awesome--strong and they look really nice, which is good because the bookcase does not have doors. :)
(I cannot have an office in a closet because I live in a Manhattan apartment, and the last thing we have is a spare closet!!!)

Absolutely love this! My closet is only 48" wide. Will it be wide enough to do something like this? Also, what size shelves did you do to create your desk surface?
Hi Amanda! If it's EXACTLY 48" wide you can fit a 36" Elfa Freestanding solution in. The Elfa Freestanding Frame is about an inch larger than the size of the shelves. My "desk" surface is 16" deep which is kind of shallow, but they make 20" deep desktops!

I made my first "office in a closet" back in 1983...................It's not a new concept................it worked really well in the days when we had enough closet space. Now, in 2021, when very few people can actually afford to purchase/live/stay in a house with closet space, when most folks are made to purchase condos.................closet space is at a premium and I cannot imagine anyone turning a closet into an office. That would be insane. Instead, people should be scanning /filing everything digitally. Not only for office papers..............this should apply to eveything from coupons to photographs.................If you don't want to do the photos yourself, there are companies out there that will put all your photos and movies on a digital system that takes little to no space and is easy to store.

Yay! Ochem was my FAVE! My spiritual beliefs are intensely personal and I do not discuss them in public and have always kept that stuff close to the vest since I was little. My parents made sure that I was able to choose and keep an open mind in terms of spirituality which I am very grateful for. I am of the belief that as long as you are not harming others intentionally, I embrace you with open arms, kindness and compassion 🥰

The untangling of the electronic cords absolutely would have pushed me over the edge. What a great job you did. I say this from the bottom of my heart, you are amazing. Don't you need a light in your office? I would think the light behind you would cast a shadow on your work. I really like your handwriting on the labels. I use a label machine for all of my labels but I wish I could print as fancy as you do.
There is a light in there that comes on automatically but I also have a couple of table lights for when I speak to people or record there ☺️ (this also isn’t my handwriting, it’s a cute script font!)
