I appreciate your dedication to these videos, but I think barely mentioning variation was a mistake in this one. Most people don't fully understand the difference between magnetic and true direction, and that their compass and map are going to show different directions.
I agree. I was trying to find a balance between the basics and a few tricks that are useful for skiing but more emphasis on magnetic declination would have been important. Like I said, I hope people who may not be familiar with the basics will seek proper instruction rather than watching a youtube video and running with it. Thanks for the feedback.
Why would a GPS watch interfere with a transceiver? Isn't GPS just receiving signals, not sending any out? (Or is it the Bluetooth connection of the watch to your phone that can interfere)
I love the commitment of sticking to these videos!
Glad you like them!
Nice job on explaining knowing how to use a paper map.

W.r.t. map scales.
I prefer 1:1, but they're hard to carry
Yeah. They tend to be difficult to deal with especially when it's windy :D

This excellent article is probably the best of many I have read on the subject www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en_EU/stories/qc-lab-beacon-interference/
