As an avid backcountry hiker myself, I really appreciate you taking the time to share tips for new people on tips to stay safe. It’s very important people don’t just run off thinking I’m ok with a day pack. Always enjoy your adventures. Stay safe out there
I enjoy camping and hiking in nature. I love the fresh clean air and tranquility of it all. The only thing I don't like is the parking lot. It's always full of cars. Everyone wants to do the same thing I want to do on the same day as me.
I've been cold weather camping for over 40 years and discovered how good those heat pads are a couple of years ago when my son bought some. I keep a dozen in the car too now in case we ever get stranded by the weather overnight. Great video, subscribed!
Me, before clicking the video: Is this the bear spray trip? Cheebs: So there was an unfortunate incident Me: Nooooo it issss I’m glad you’re okay Cheebs! I don’t know if I could have gone out there with how cold it looks alone, not to mention being sick, the bear spray AND the cold. Love how despite it all you pushed through and taught/showed us all these super informative things! ❤
Just found you😊. My husband and I are training for our first backpacking trip to Point Reye in California. We are seniors, so it should be challenging for us. I appreciate your expertise, which will be helpful to us. Thank you, and please stay safe.
Wishing you good luck and an amazing trip! You mentioned you are seniors, I can only hope I have as much ambition and eagerness to make such an endeavor as I age, so truly good on you!!! Again have the best time, enjoy the views, and stay safe!!!
For 13 minutes and 39 seconds I was thinking I MIGHT know where this was, then I finally saw the pipe! Haha. Very nice. I've wanted to camp there as well. Nice work!
Incredible views. Love the commentary and advice. Great pacing and editing! It is wonderful seeing a fellow solo adventurer out there inspiring others. Happy adventuring!
Great video, very informative and accurate because you clearly have experience, keep up the good work! I would also put your gear in the descriptions, for the gear heads among us(was wondering about the tent😊) .
I love day hiking but have never done a overnight backpack. Overnight camping in winter would be fun but scary. Just discovered your channel a few weeks ago. I am enjoying it. It is only 5 degrees and snowing hard here in Eastern Oregon right now as I am watching this.
Hell yeah! That's what it's all about. Glad you popped up on my feed! I can safely say that I learned more about the pentatomidae family than I have from any other RUclips video. If you ever happen to find yourself in Vermont, let's collab!
We all have hobbies. I like to paint and draw when I go out in nature for hiking and camping. The joy of painting by Bob Ross inspires me since I was a teenager. I also bring books so I can read in the peace and quiet.
The winter views are the absolute best, but I commend you for camping out in it and sharing it with those of us who are little babies when it comes to the cold!
Oh no! That is too bad about the bear spray. Really good tip trailblazing. Too many folks don't know have basic compass or navigation skills. I love a good day hike & cook, but I can see the benefits of bringing a freeze dried meal for a cold overnight. As a matter of fact, now that I think about it, I brought a beef stroganoff meal at Ponca State Park last year. Really good tips on how to stay warm without a fire. 100% agree with you on proper gear. Great job and thanks for sharing!
Your experience really shows through in this video! I'd take a down jacket for the moments when I'm not moving and stress the importance of being on the move to stay warm.
I love all of your videos that I’ve seen. Please keep up the the good stuff.. i think your approach to your videos really inspire people to get outdoors. Thanks for what you do…
Cheebs, I love your videos… I encourage all my friends who backpack and camp to always take a buddy and get some training and carry a firearm. Many do-not not like firearms however they are the great equalizer. Take care
You always make great videos, and I like how you talk throughout your clips! You are always positive, too. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience! Stay safe and keep doing great videos 🙂
It's great to see you cautioning people about what you're doing. I have a kayak fishing channel and my BIGGEST priority in every winter vid where there is potential of ending up in the water is to remind everyone not to do what I do without the proper gear and skill set. Nice work, Cheebs!
Amazing video. When I camp I sleep to the white noise app on my phone and choose “rain on tent”. Very soothing and gives you something to focus on and relax to.
That was fantastic! Thanks, I was filled with both admiration and inspiration. 😊 I can't wait until there's enough snow here to go snowshoeing, not that i have any illusions about camping, but you make enjoying winter look far less painful, some might say easy even. Thanks again, brilliant video.
Thank you for a nice video! I love your little bug info. I have a PhD in biology, but like you I don't work with it, but it's a passion. And it is such a nice thing to always have with you when you are out in nature. Have a awesome day!
I enjoyed watching your video! You looked really happy during the whole experience! Nature has always been my go to place. Never solo camping in the cold. Feel like I don't have the right gear. It would help if I went out and bought some of the right stuff.
Thanks for the edification on Pentatomidae. Fascinating. Once again you taught me something new. Cheers to your knowledge. I did an overnighter in 30 degree weather. But, I used a 4 season tent. It was 8 degrees warmer inside. That helped. Bravo to your fortitude and enthusiasm. Wishing you peace and good fortune. Happy Trails!
Bring another two heat patches with you and leave them inside the socks you'll be wearing in the morning with those socks inside your boots and have them turned upside down for the night. Toasty books feel sweet first thing in the morning. 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for making sure everyone knows safety is first. ✌🏼 I have seen some videos from other content creators that does not place this warning when doing hikes with higher risk. It's easy and not as easy as it seems.
Your site with the water pipe in the background reminds me of Lake Spaulding in the Sierra on the I80 corridor - I did a 24 hour adventure race through there circa 2001. As always good content and inspiring to the neophyte. Well done!
Cheebs, hope your health has improved 🙏. Thank you for being a kind and generous camper. ⛺ The view of the lake and mountains 🗻 from camp was sublime . Be well and take care. 🙂
Engaging content :) I especially like that you brave it right out in the open. Gets cold! I do mostly solo, also. It's a lot of fun, but I know for a woman, it takes even more courage. Camping in the cold is the name of the game, lately. There are heavy fire restrictions where I do a lot of my winter camping, so it's all about the clothing and....contained fires....sometimes. Just spent the night in 25 degree snowfall and a hammock. It was so nice to hear nothing but the snow.
Hi cheebs nice to watch you film how is it going. Camping is interesting and being in beautiful wilderness is the best. God bless you and your adventures.
Love your channel, content, and direction and advice for backpackers and hikers alike. Please continue to make this content. We all support you!!!!! Love it when you share what you're actually using and lists. Actually purchased many items from you list!! Also what tent is that?
it’s currently 10° and I’m snuggled in bed watching this trying to keep warm. I also have a Nalgene bottle next to me full of water that I chug in the middle of the night. I am no way an outdoor person but I love these videos
A good tip to keep warm is to get all of your camp setup done in your hiking clothes. Then change into dry layers when you are ready to cook, eat and go to bed.
Cool spot I’d like to do some of this myself. The wind is a killer I go ice fishing and everything is perfect then the wind sneaks up on you drains the heat right out of you.
Hi Cheebs here is a tip for you when on a trail you can get reflect tape so you shine it with flashlight you can see at night and daylight if you put it around trees
So jealous! Winter forgot to show up in southern Ontario (Canada) this year! Backcountry camping this year is just an exercise in muck and slush. (aka no fun)
Great video! Plus the view - wow. Q1: Do you put your wet gloves, pants, etc. in a bag in your sleeping bag so they don’t freeze? Q2: the hand warmers in your down booties don’t burn your toes/feet? I’ve done two backpacking trips and lots of hiking - lowest temp was about 35 deg. So new to backpacking. 😊 Thanks.
Aren't you afraid of running into a sasquatch? I liked to go hiking and camping when I was younger, never even thought about a bigfoot. That's all I hear and read about now, it sure has kept me out of the woods.....I like your podcasts.....
When I was doing cold weather training in the marine corps up in the mountains of Bridgeport California the MREs we were given were just repackaged mountain house meals and they were phenomenal.
What pipeline or structure are you camping next too? Intresting video. Thanks.
Those handwarmers look like a gamechanger, great tips

Perfect timing to watch this while I'm bundled up on the porch in an ice storm😊 Winter vibes 💙🩵🌬
Ski and snowboard season for many people this time of year too. I like to go camping and hiking in the winter. Different hobbies for different folks.
Love these chill videos 😌
Love your videos. I have not camped in the snow like that. I am going to have to try it. You really rock.
Hiya from the U.K ,I'm loving your adventures across the pond, keep them coming OK
I love that we get to go on adventures with you. So much fun. Thank you for sharing.
can't overstate how much I've been loving these camping vlogs!
Many people enjoy hiking and camping in nature. I do this every weekend. Nature calms me down.
For 13 minutes and 39 seconds I was thinking I MIGHT know where this was, then I finally saw the pipe! Haha. Very nice. I've wanted to camp there as well. Nice work!
Where is this?
My question as well. Cheebs used to live in Colorado, but where is this??@@betsyclarke185
My favorite parts of all these videos have been you pointing out all the bugs and critters and talking bout them, also those lil tips from warming up
Beautiful spot. Even better Sunrise. Keep on trail blazing.
Cheebs, I watch a ton of camping and wilderness RUclips videos. You have a wonderful mix of charm, wisdom, and great energy. Brava!
I love your channel and appreciate you taking the time to educate your viewers. Nice job, Cheebs🙂
Awesome trip! The top was scenic, but the trail itself seemed to be just as pretty!
Such an enjoyable video to watch. It was funny, educational, and an all-round good time. Keep it up !!!
Another great video, Cheebs! I have been enjoying spending my time with you. Thanks for sharing your Dash!!! - Davey.
Incredible views. Love the commentary and advice. Great pacing and editing! It is wonderful seeing a fellow solo adventurer out there inspiring others. Happy adventuring!
You're an inspiring woman . Thank you for sharing .
Love your upbeat personality!

Great share! 👍 so glad i found your channel
I just stumbled upon your channel. Good vibes so I subscribed.
It's so cool to hear that you studied entmology. I really love bugs and like to spend time during the warmer seasons to find and identify them.
We all have hobbies. I like to paint and draw when I go out in nature for hiking and camping. The joy of painting by Bob Ross inspires me since I was a teenager. I also bring books so I can read in the peace and quiet.

I love all of your videos that I’ve seen. Please keep up the the good stuff.. i think your approach to your videos really inspire people to get outdoors. Thanks for what you do…
So many useful tips! And really helpful to see camping trips don’t have to include super long enduring hikes, thanks!

Great video. Reminds me I have a winter backpacking video to upload. The boiled water trick is key! Cheers
I appreciate people with good energy... strong girl 👏👍🤗 solo is the best
love your content, going to start solo Camping as well in the next months. Perfect conditions and nature here in Austria 😊
Beautiful and the views are nice too.
I love your videos you explore the coolest places

Great video as always, Cheebs! Love the outdoors content! those views looked amazing!! 💛
Your sunglasses totally rock by the way!!🤙🏼🌲🌲🌲☀️
I used to run a sporting goods department (Walmart) and I tried all the backpacking meals, Chicken and Dumplings was one of the good ones :)
Nice tip to bring an extra pair of gloves. I have been thinking about doing that for my AT through hike this year.
Love your videos. Keep up the content and may your channel continue to rise.
Your site with the water pipe in the background reminds me of Lake Spaulding in the Sierra on the I80 corridor - I did a 24 hour adventure race through there circa 2001. As always good content and inspiring to the neophyte. Well done!

Hi cheebs nice to watch you film how is it going. Camping is interesting and being in beautiful wilderness is the best. God bless you and your adventures.
wow very interesting experience friend
Great video. Just a tip I use, you can pour hot water directly into the oatmeal packet and eat out of there. No cleanup
another wonderful inspiration to get out and go hiking
Sympa et utile. Merci !
Fab video, I love winter camping ones.
Great video Cheebs! Much love and respect from a fellow Gamer/Backcountry hiker in PNW! 🤙
If only I could meet a girl like you..:) I'm more of a mountaineer myself, but I think you channel and its content are awesome!
Great Video! Thanks for sharing!
Enjoying your videos

Thank you for sharing you're experience with us 😄
Good tips, i see that you have a lot of experience. Good one for drying socks is to put them beneath your base layer for the night.
30F is -1.1C. There are very very few people I have seen on YT who would even contemplate winter camping without a fire or heater. Kudos to you.
Great tips and very nice overnighter.
it’s currently 10° and I’m snuggled in bed watching this trying to keep warm. I also have a Nalgene bottle next to me full of water that I chug in the middle of the night. I am no way an outdoor person but I love these videos

Experts don't change base layers.
Good tips. Thanks!

Strong word of advise never block your hearing when you're out in the wilderness.
Hi Cheebs here is a tip for you when on a trail you can get reflect tape so you shine it with flashlight you can see at night and daylight if you put it around trees
Youre such a Good Vibe ❤😊👌
Chicken and dumplings are my favorite backcountry meal!

good luck and be great and don't admit your mistakes.
When us guys catch a cold, we order delivery pizza and don't leave the couch. Cheebs goes camping in the snow. 👍
These views are so beautiful!
Aren't you afraid of running into a sasquatch? I liked to go hiking and camping when I was younger, never even thought about a bigfoot. That's all I hear and read about now, it sure has kept me out of the woods.....I like your podcasts.....
Nice out camping 👍💯
what a nice video so relaxing
When I was doing cold weather training in the marine corps up in the mountains of Bridgeport California the MREs we were given were just repackaged mountain house meals and they were phenomenal.
Glad someone else realizes handwarmers on major arteries helps warm blood flow, don't think I've ever known anyone else who realized this lol
Great video Cheebs!
