Started selling clothing on eBay about 7 years ago using a double z rack system w/ hangers. Thought I was a genius when I saw everyone else using a confusing bin system. I started watching your content from the beginning when you did video calls with Luke as 10konthebay. I watched you go from not having a clue as to what you were talking about, to becoming one of the best sources of knowledge when it comes to reselling clothing. When you finally figured out a bin system using sequential numbers it was a game changer in the bin vs rack system debate. I gave it a lot of thought, balancing the pros and cons of each and finally came to the painful conclusion that your simple yet brilliant bin system was the way forward for me. Now having used both systems for years, I can say that I feel I made the right choice even after your revelation on racks. So thanks Chris, I'm happy for your continued success and growth. I'm thinking of starting a YT reselling channel as I see how much it has helped you connect with the right people and forced you to self analyze everything you do in your business and perfect it.
Way I keep tabs of items by price structure. Lower items slowly over time. And price gets too low, I pull them out of the unsold items and get them donated.
I got three of those Z racks for free, all completely full now with only five clothing items listed, I need to step my game up on that part and that chronological system I will implement when I do, thank you for the info.
I think it just depends on your business model and how you can be most efficient. It is easy to say racks are easier when you have a lot of space and move so much that dust doesn't accumulate. I have a very small home and have most of my current 450+ inventory in bins, but some things on a hanging rack to preserve their integrity until sold. As a visual person I do wish I had the space for racks. Especially for inventory auditing... Love u Chris ❤ Thanks I
definitely agree on it does take more space and when I'm still "new" even though I shouldn't be because I've been trying to resale for years but it's only been a side gig until recently and I love off a dirt road and have a wood burning stove only. so ppl habe said items have smelled like cigarettes bit im not a cigarette smkker and its just because my wood stove. I have just got the point where I now a separate space, not in my home and I think I'm going to do both, still because I libe in a rural area on dirt road so there is ALOT A of dust. I definitely like and believe in the idea of getting things that move faster so I can get rid of older inventory I've had for way to long and just need to donate at this point. love the rack idea but will still use some bins as well.
I live in an apartment, so I still use the bin system, but I have a problem because I want to sell suits or thick jackets and don’t know how to keep them properly. Many times I have to pass those items even they are good deal and will sell well😢.
Wow, it’s crazy to hear you say this you love those bins I’ve been watching you since day one also, you have a way better set up now you can fit a lot of racks
If you have to move, you're screwed if you don't arrange them yourself. I think it only works if you have a permanent space. I'm far away with my bin and sku numbers and it doesn't bother me at all to never look at them. Both systems work according to different situations so stick with works for you.
Totally disagree I e used racks for 7 years and sometimes items gets lost. Only use racks for heavy things like jackets that won’t fits in the bags other than I’m amazed with the bag system. If I have your channel info in 2016 I could have made 50-100k per month instead of 7-10k per month
Even if I had the space I don’t think racks is a good way to store clothing as it’s not protected from dust etc. Tops also get stretched and get those awful hanger bumps on the shoulders and sleeves, which is quite hard to iron or steam back into shape. I only sell my unwanted clothes but it’s a lot of effort to wash, press, take photos and store- all of which I want to do just once and not repeat any of those steps again.

I used to think that, now I think with limited space racks are better bc it forces you to buy faster moving inventory

Do you use dust covers to protect the clothes?
Depends on the state. Moths took over the few pieces I had like this. It sucked!
What about moths? Potential infestations?
Highly recommend not doing this. Consequences are expensive!

What about for small inventory
This does make sense!
great advice!
Even for eBay ? I know you do what not now so you’re changing the process . You still recommend it for eBay ? Sell through isn’t the same
Yeup, speed is king

Great 👍🏽 😊❤
Your opinion.!
Ok, but I’ve been using bins for 7 years and track my inventory dates by SKU. (Month/Year)
That is if you have a bigger space right ?
Do you worry about your items getting dusty?

What kind of racks are you using?
Ops I see you answered already
Do you have issues with numbers falling off
Where is the best place to get the racks that won't fold with 3 shirts hanging on it? Lol. Really, pray tell
