    Heavy 7 string guitar riffs require heavy 7 string guitar tuning, my friends! In my opinion, one of the best 7 string guitar tunings out there is a variation of what you know as drop tuning for the electric guitar. Your 7 string riffs & those 7 string metal guitar riffs will thank you later!

    I love the idea of having a standard 6 string tuning WITH THE DROP A. It's like having the best of both worlds and you can play both. That's just cool. I can rip around in E Standard...... then slam the dropped A and get HEAVY! 🤘🎸
    Really like your channel Ryan. Good stuff. Good humor and tons of insight, inspiration, and knowledge. 🤘 Take care man. 🙂

      I have a 1982 Ibanez Destroyer II with a 24.75" scale that I tune to drop G#, intonated perfectly due to the stock bridge having so much adjustment room haha, I normally use custom Stringjoy 68-12s but right now I'm using custom D'Addario Chrome flatwounds gauges 65-11.5

    I tune my 7 string down to E1, like a bass. Try that for heavy. And no, the strings are not floppy. I altered my guitar to make it work for me

    Half Step Down Tuning, I use that too because of my Vocal range so that the High Notes are less of a Strain on my Voice. The Great Stevie Ray Vaughn and also Jimi Hendrix used that tuning too which creates a Bluesier sound.

    Hiya Ryan, I'm getting on a bit but finally trying to learn guitar and love really low metal. I have bought two guitars a 6 and a 7 string Ibanez but what size of strings would you recommend I start with for them? Really enjoying your site 🤘. Ian across the pond 😁

      It might need new batteries, but if it has an input jack make sure the volume knob is turned up all the way when you use an audio cable to connect the Guitar to the input jack on the tuner

    Can you tune a 7 in Drop B?

    • @IAmHappyToBe33
      @IAmHappyToBe33 4 месяца назад

      Of course you can. But you would need to tune up those first six strings a whole step which is F# standard and leave the seventh as is (B). Depending on the scale length you'd need to consider lighter gauge string set like 9s or even 8s. 58-60 for your lower B string if the scale is 25.5 or even 56 if it's 27".
