This is insane and totally inspiring. I think the most amazing part of the model is the fact you managed to make a part freely rotate around another without it touching the print bed using those tiny little tabs that broke free with the first use of the key. Holy crap I am 100% stealing that technique! :D

I wish more videos would be made on tips and such for coming up with mechanisms and such for the designing of them process.

That you engineered it to print in place is amazing.
You have a lot of design and cad skills that I don’t, so I don’t want to sound like I think I know more than you, but I work in game design and I’d say there are a few things to be aware of when designing puzzles.
    1. Red herrings rarely produce positive feelings. If they’re used in a particularly creative way or give some benefit to the player (such as extra time or a hint to make up for the time lost on the red herring) then they’re not so bad. In the example you showed where one position works and one position almost works, a good number of people are going to assume their printer left some unintended artifact on the inside and they’re going to force it.
    2. Variety is the most important thing. You could argue that your puzzle box has several distinct puzzles such as the gear teeth/key (that’s a really good idea by the way) and the twisty maze. To a lot of players though, they’re just turning the large key in several different ways. Especially if they got caught by your red herring near the start, turning that large key will just have them paranoid that they’re going to run into another time wasting trap.
    3. It should be easy for the player to avoid repeating the same wrong solution. Maybe a marker or numbered dial on top of they key, and numbered bands along the side to help players keep track of which positions they’ve already tried would help.
Anyway, I can’t exaggerate how impressed I am by your designs. Your dedication to printing in place is amazing too.
    Keep up the good work.

Could you do a review on the Monoprice Voxel. There are none as of now and it seems like a great printer. I might get one. For $400 it has: Touch screen, 50 micron z precision, fully enclosed, heated bed, decent print size, wifi ability, removable plate, and a camera! I dont know weather or not to get it though. It is from a reliable company buy I have a good printer already.

For most things I like my parts a little tight fitting unless it's a spot that I can't sand. If it's too tight I sand it and if it's a moving part that rubs another part sanding helps it move smoother.

Oh boy this was tough to print. It would always curl up on the thread and eventually the head would ram into it, missing steps and create layer shifts.I think it might be my insufficient cooling, I put fans up but it didn't fix it. I managed to fully print it pretty well by using an insane 2mm z-hop. Unfortunately both thread were seized and the free spinning thread part on the pin was fused strongly to the pin. This again mostly due to z-issues, curling and droop. I had to cheat and look at the file to understand which parts are supposed to be separate. I was able to break everything loose but because of only 5% infill and two outer layers the pin broke. I glued it with some toothpicks and now the puzzle is actually usable. Nice job designing this! :)
